Immortality, consciousness, and actuality
Consciousness as the only reality
The concept that i struggled with the most in nom dualism was that there is no creation or that nothing exists, and I’m sure that is also where most people who struggle with understanding this come from.
Well first let’s talk about consciousness/awareness/all that is/ “ “/ or whatever you wanna call it. Even tho until now in science and philosophy we cannot say what consciousness is, theres no doubt that you’re conscious all of the time. However in advaita vedanta, consciousness is the only reality, and nothing else exists, but how? Well, you definitely experience reality you can for sure say it exists, but AV never denied that.
Well most of you probably know the analogy of “the rope appears as a snake”, but generally that didn’t cut it for me lol. So look at this other analogy, there’s a table, you can see it, touch it and you are 100% sure its a table, but what is actually the table? Its wood, the table cannot exist without wood, matter of fact the wood never became the table, the wood is only shaped as a table. So even tho you can see and touch the table, there’s ONLY wood.
Here’s another one, there’s ice, i can see that its ice, feel that it’s cold, but it’s only water that took the shape of ice, the water can evaporate, become liquid again, freeze, and take the shape of whatever thing it’s in. But is there anything but water? It’s only water taking different shapes, there’s no deny that the water appears as different things, but there is only water.
That same way consciousness is the only reality that appears as the many, is the only thing that is, nothing else is.
So now that we have established that consciousness is the only reality, that every experience and object is consciousness and nothing else, what’s next?
i would say consciousness lol but generally, if we are talking about what effect does knowing this have on us? Well first of all, information alone isn’t enough, this can only be understood through direct experience, even thinking is an experience but believe me, taking someone’s words and not doing anything with them, thinking about it, asking yourself questions; is as useless as talking to a brick wall.
Anyhow, you will at some point if not now realize that your desires, struggles, frustration, helplessness, etc, don’t actually exist.
Immortality, afterlife, and reincarnation
So to talk about this i need to incorporate time in here, however, again, nothing exists independently from consciousness, therefore if there is time then its simply YOU observing time, which is the basis for these 3 concepts.
Again, all is consciousness; therefore… no one ever died. Well, again and again, there is no denying the experience, but what is an experience? Consciousness appearing as something but never really becoming that thing. So through the body you see it, but the body is also experienced. Through the mind you think it, but the mind is also experienced. So if I am consciousness, it’s impossible to be unconscious; that would only be another experience I appear as, right? So that “death” is merely an appearance of a body dying, and an illusion of thinking you are that body.
So no one died, dies, will die.
2. Afterlife and reincarnation.
“What happens after we die?” Is the most famous question of all religions, philosophy, and science, yet no one has an answer. Because, darling, it’s only what you think it is. So what, is everyone right? Yes and no. If I were religious, for example, and my body died and I assumed I would experience an afterlife (totally unnecessary), I would meet angels or be judged and thrown into hell or heaven and be there eternally, but is that true?😆. Hell no, again that’s just what it appears to be!!! So fundamentally, everyone is wrong but right in the sense that that is what will appear to them; that’s all. Anyways, if you think there is nothingness, then that would also be another experience; how can there be nothingness without consciousness to be conscious of nothing?
Now for reincarnation it’s the same thing, actually by establishing the first point of consciousness being the only reality im only repeating myself, so you think you will be born again? Sure, you think you will shift? Sure whatever, because actually it doesn’t matter, and it shouldn’t because thats only consciousness experiencing itself again, but well isn’t it fun? It sure is.
So after all that talk, yes baby nothing exists. Me, you, this world, universe, everything??? Consciousness. No matter how i think about it, it’s so romantic, theres nothing but consciousness and “we” are consciousness so “we” are one appearing as different people. Truly twin flames do exist lol, I mean again, we all are nothing but one. Not just humans, but EVERYTHING. It’s romantic, beautiful, and most importantly spontaneous.
You can ask me anything you want, and hopefully you take your time to think about this, ironically enough.
