A… talkative drunk? Who complains a lot. Well, gets a laugh out of her and she shakes her head. Of course he is. Why does that not surprise her?

But then he tacks on that last bit, and her head cants to one side at that, her own brow furrowing a bit.

“Emotional? MY brother?” she questions in obvious disbelief and with more than a little curiosity.

She decides right away that she likes the bartender. Not only is he easy on the eyes––hey! even if he’s older than her brother, she can still look!––but he’s funny, too. 

“The only reputation my big brother seems to have around here is for being overly stressed and barely keeping OTS running and in one piece.”

[ Well, being the best engineer in the outpost, too, but. That’s not anything funny. She’s actually pretty proud of him for that. ]

“C’mon. Do you realize how much I’ve missed out on in ten cycles? As a younger sister, I have been robbed. How can I tease him when I don’t know anything recent?”

It hadn't been all that difficult. After all, she had never kept terribly much of her own. She never had much use for THINGS. Some favorite clothes. Her tool kit. A few other sentimental items. That was all it took for her pack up. It took even less to leave. As much as she loves her parents and her younger brother, she refuses to call Galma her home and she refuses to get caught up in everything that it is and to avoid it was becoming more and more difficult by the day.

She had spoken with her parents, and Father had been reluctant. Mother had hedged. We should discuss this more soon, and we should first speak with your brother. 

But she knows what that means. It means that they would prefer to keep her close and soon might never come. It was just a matter of finding a reason as to why.

So, leaving a recorded holo-message on her bed, off she went without so much as a backwards glance and how freeing that was! To know that Galma was behind her and Black Spire ahead!

By the time she reaches the Outpost, she’s all smiles and pent up energy. It’s so amazing! It’s so much nicer and cleaner than Galma and her smiles are met with other smiles rather than scowls and there are old women weaving baskets and vendors selling all sorts of things and no one had even tried to steal her duffle bag or pick her pocket (yet) and––! She instantly loves it! 

She greets everyone who so much as looks her direction, practically bouncing on her feet anytime she stops to look at something in one of the many stalls.

At length, however, the market given at least a cursory exploration and a few pleasant exchanges of conversation––as well as a snack obtained from a fruit vendor––she turns her step toward her destination.

By the time she gets there, she’s absolutely beaming and beyond excited. She’s going to get to see Malta here at Black Spire! She asks someone standing outside admiring some disaster of a YT-model––though she doesn’t say anything to them about that because it might be theirs!––if he knows her brother and if he’s working today, and the old Weequay grins and laughs and tells her that he’ll send him her way.

With that assurance, she turns her gaze back to the ship, trying to decide what had been so interesting about it.

Exciting news! I have finally gotten my muse page sorted. Brief descriptions have been added and all of the characters are posted. This has included an update of removing Salju who may now be found at @lightinhersmile and the addition of Anya Malikon, @spirekept‘s younger sister (their creation for Malta’s backstory/family but they’re allowing me to write her!).

If anyone has any questions or something is off with the muse page coding, just let me know as I sometimes fumble a bit with this.
