I think wout is either having an early mid life crisis or a delayed gay awakening. Either way he finally understands how much he loves his matje

i think he got a new therapist and dealt with his teenage trauma and embraced his bisexuality at this point 😭 he does 😭😭😭 like these last couple of years have been one crazy statement after the other... i wouldn't have believed ANY of this two years ago, believe me.

every joke aside, i do believe that those big injuries that made him think about retirement shifted something in him. during the whole cx season he said one nice thing after the other, and it all culminated in liévin with those crazy quotes. then started the road season with clasica jáen and a whole ass interview about how he came to accept their differences and results and accepted everything, then he started opening up to the idea of a dinner post retirement. all things that matje had mentioned way before and fell into the void lol i think he's appreciating every little thing now, without comparing himself to the others, let alone to matje. It's about the journey, and matje was such a big part of it for him. The biggest part of it.

He probably sees it all, now. And he loves it. And in any way, rpf lenses out, i'm sure there's real affection for matje.
