Jabber Stabber Wokerrrrr
Happy pride month to Zanka Nijiku and his 6-foot lightskin handsome masochistic psychotic ring lover chem connoisseur violent crackhead emoter freddy krueger kinda singer with great hair a broken arm and sick swag raider baddie of a boyfriend Jabber Wonger
I don't know if it's been said or headcanoned before, but doesn't Bro Santa seem like he's dressed in a Chicano style? Idk if anyone has headcanoned him or Dear as Mexican American or from somewhere else in Latin America, but his style looked familiar to me, and I finally remembered what it was reminding me of.
Premonitions of a black version or Noerde but instead of a comb she has a pick and a Afro
I’m honestly so exhausted by this whole Gachiakuta situation because it feels like we’ve moved way past the original issue and into “what is the “acceptable” way for Black fans to express discomfort” territory.
I already acknowledged that not everyone sees the issue — and that’s fine. But some people do see a problem, and their feelings are still valid. Not everyone is going to react the same way to something.
It now feels like some people are less angry about the criticism and more angry that Black fans spoke up at all.
The situation completely escaped the fandom and became culture war discourse. Now there are people who clearly never cared about Gachiakuta using this as an excuse to dunk on “wokeness,” liberals, POC, or Black people in general.
Rapid fire to get through points
I’ve seen people reduce the entire situation to “this is why creators shouldn’t draw Black people,” which is an insane takeaway. I’ve also seen people act like fans were trying to make her kill herself over this, when one of the first mentions of suicide I personally saw was someone saying, “If I were in this situation, I would kill myself.” And that was in response to someone just saying it the situation made them uncomfortable.
I’m not dismissing that harassment probably happened. Once thousands of people are talking about you at once, even good-faith criticism can feel like one overwhelming hostile wave instead of separate conversations. But a lot of people also collapsed every form of criticism into “hate” or “harassment,” and those are not the same thing.
People acting like everyone was obligated to accept the apology are confusing me. Apologies are not magical reset buttons. People are allowed to still feel hurt. People are allowed to reject an apology. That does not make them horrible people.
What also made this worse is her closeness to the fandom. When creators are emotionally “close,” and fans see them as “one of the good ones,” criticism starts feeling personal. Then discussions stop being about the actual issue and turn into emotional defense campaigns. At the same time, there are obviously people using this situation to push racist talking points.
I reject the idea that “everything would’ve been fine if people just stayed quiet.” That’s not a real solution. That’s just asking Black fans — in this case specifically — to silently sit with discomfort so everyone else stays comfortable.
Yes, there were absolutely people acting in bad faith on all sides. If this situation stressed her out enough that she wants to distance herself from fandom spaces entirely that probably for the best . I’ve seen people say she might kill off Jabber or even step away from Gachiakuta because of this. If she kills off Jabber, that’s her story. I’d personally think it’s a childish response, but it’s still her choice. If she walks away from the series entirely, that’s also her choice. None of that suddenly makes good-faith criticism invalid or turns critics into “bad people.”
At the end of the day, my biggest issue is still the harassment toward Black fans and the way people used this situation as an opportunity to be openly racist while pretending they were just “defending the creator.”
I still like the characters. I still like the ideas in the story. But this whole situation has been exhausting and, honestly, mishandled from almost every direction. I don’t think this fandom is ever really recovering from this. What frustrates me most is that there were absolutely ways this could’ve been handled better, even if there was never going to be a perfect outcome. Which is why every time I see people joke that Kei Urana needed better PR, I genuinely hope she didn’t already have PR involved, because if she did, they completely fucked this situation up.
Edit: Apparently an animator for the show came out calling people critiquing her slurs, they started calling Zeno Robinson jabbers va slurs, and are slinging any slur they can think of even if it not cohesive at anyone black they can find so truly honestly fuck it all.
jabber art dump
Figure skating/(YOI) AU Zanka would basically just be Yurio from Yuri on Ice. He’d have Yurio’s temperament with Yuuri Katsuki’s self-esteem.
Bonus Addition: Jabber is basically Otabek with Victor Nikiforov’s skill level, plus a little more emotive range because I have an agenda to push.
I know in my heart of hearts that Enjin was a axe body spray warrior if it existed. Like in the future he smells of cigarettes maybe maybe a cologne he or Semiu bought (cause she told him he can’t keep smelling purely of cigarettes), but younger him either sweat, axe or both. When he passed it was a cloud of axe to where you felt like you needed to cough.
OMFG, if I see one more post saying “oh, Gachiakuta is becoming the MHA fandom,” I’m going to lose it, because the truth is that once a fandom gets large enough, there are always going to be really weird people in it. That’s true for both fandoms. And it’s not even that those people are the majority; they’re just the loudest, or they get the most attention.
Then people sit there asking, “Why do they keep showing up? Why do I keep seeing them?” while constantly interacting with that content. The algorithm is literally built to show you things based on engagement, and people keep extending those creators’ five minutes of fame by giving them attention.
What also annoys me is that this is starting to be used to dismiss genuine concerns and critiques (like it currently is w/ the whole jabber video )because once again, people focus on the loudest extremes instead of looking at the general average, making critiques with actual nuance and understanding. But nuanced conversations don’t get engagement, and one could say me responding out of frustration, furthers the spread of exactly what I'm complaining about. So I guess just fuck it all
I need to rant about this. I might take it down later. With the whole Kei Urana/Gachiakuta Jabber situation, I honestly don’t think she’s racist. I think people on the internet tend to jump to the furthest ends of a black-and-white scale instead of being willing to sit in the grey area. That being said, I do think there is ignorance she has surrounding certain topics, whether that comes from growing up in a more homogeneous country or simply not being taught about certain issues idk.
There’s a level of care that has to go into creating characters from racial or ethnic backgrounds different from your own, especially when you’re heavily drawing inspiration from those communities' aesthetics as well. I don’t think she intentionally does things to be racist, but people from the communities being referenced are still allowed to have concerns about how things are portrayed and what gets endorsed by the creator. A creator’s endorsement can make people feel like certain behavior or interpretations are acceptable, even if that wasn’t the intention.
To hit all my points, I’m just going to rapid-fire them:
I don’t think the apology was very good — not in a “it wasn’t good enough no matter what” kind of way, but because the phrasing felt more focused on the emotional response of the audience than directly addressing the main concern people had.
The main concern seemed to get the shortest acknowledgment, while a much larger portion focused on something that wasn’t the central issue for most people. I understand the defensiveness behind that, but it still felt misplaced.
People — especially Black fans — reevaluating past moments or interactions through a different lens after this situation is normal. Even if harmful intent was never there, people naturally become more guarded once trust is shaken. Those who no longer want to engage with the media aren’t automatically being dramatic.
Kei Urana’s response to criticism feels very human, but still worthy of critique. It comes across as protective and defensive, which is understandable emotionally, but if you treat every criticism like an attack, you can end up pushing away people who are genuinely trying to explain concerns in good faith.
In the end, do I think she’s a horrible person? No. Do I think ignorance around certain topics unintentionally offended people, and that the response has made the situation worse? Yes. Are there people taking things too far on both sides? It’s the internet, so obviously yes. Are there also fans who idolize her to the point where they think she can do no wrong and end up coddling her? Also yes.
One way this whole situation has felt to me is like pointing out a concern to a parental figure, only for them to respond in a way that doesn’t fully acknowledge the issue, and then having everyone around them comfort them while acting like you’re unreasonable for still feeling hurt or dissatisfied.
I also honestly think creators should keep a healthier distance from fandom spaces. Fandoms are naturally places where fans interpret media in their own ways, create headcanons, discuss criticism, and build their own perspectives. Constant creator involvement can make things messier, especially when creators start directly validating or shutting down interpretations in emotional situations like this.
And to the people — both Black, non-Black, and pretending to be Black — saying “I don’t see the problem,” okay, but some people do, and their feelings are still valid. Not everyone is going to react the same way.
And to the people saying, “It’s not that deep,” when is it deep enough? Does something only matter when it’s blatantly hateful and impossible to ignore? Or is it “never that deep” because acknowledging uncomfortable flaws in media you enjoy is unsettling, and it feels easier to dismiss than to engage with critique?
EWWWWWWWWWAHHHHHHH GROSS FEELINGS >:((((
Potentially my final musical/movie/ whatever AU Gachiakuta x Death Becomes Her with my personal narratives to push
Jabber as Helen ( he would make more sense as Madaline, but I love Helen and I love Jabber, so sue me)
Follo as Madaline (he got one taste of being the center of attention and could let go)
Zanka as Ernest ( I want them to stress him out)
Semiu as Viola van Horne ( partially because of Michelle Williams playing her on broadway, but also just because pretty women)
I saw an edit of Gachiakuta to the final song of Into the Woods, and as a theater loser and a being deep into Gachiakuta, I started thinking about an Into the Woods AU and where the woods would be. The straightforward answer is that the Sphere is the village and the Ground is the woods, but I think
the “village” would be just a group of people groups, Raiders, Cleaners, Canvas Town, all these separate communities connected. The woods are no-man’s-land between those places, the unstable spaces outside structure and safety.
And honestly? I think the Sphere fits the giants better. It’s this distant power looming above everyone’s lives, shaping everything while feeling unreachable from below.
Also, to complete my loser rant, here are who I think the characters would be in " Into the Woods
Amo: Little Red Riding Hood
Mister (ewww): The wolf
Zodyl: Jack
Tamsy ( as a more fucked up): Rapunzel
Enjin + Jabber: the Princes
Zanka: Cinderella
Goka +Hyo: stepsisters
Kyoka: Stepmother
I couldn’t think of anything else I'll probaly figure it out later
I don’t know why, but with every fandom I have a favorite character, and I’ll ship them with whoever I want (within moral reason). But then there’s always one character I mainly ship them with, and that character can’t stray, they have to stay loyal. Meanwhile my favorite can do whatever the hell they want.
I know that baby jabber had insane Pica. Like the first 4 years of his life he wasn’t allowed outside without supervision because anything he saw he didn’t know about went straight into his mouth. His mom was constantly yelling, “jabber get the bug out of your mouth!!!”
I like the idea that people outside the Raiders think Jabber doesn’t give a shit about his health or hygiene because of how much he poisons himself, but he’s actually really strict about that shit. He tries his best to eat as well as he can on the Ground, makes his own teas and shit with health benefits, cares about his skin and hair care, and runs a strict program on that shit. And there are times where Raiders try to do or get something he deems unhealthy, and he’s like
Jabber: Hell no that’s not good for you
One of the raiders: You poison yourself get high and have stayed up for 36 hours straight for fun
Jabber :Yeah, so
Sometimes it annoys me when people are having conversations about Jabber, and someone suddenly comes in and is just like, “ Yeah, and he would smell like absolute shit.”
Like, I know Urana said he would smell bad, but I don’t think she meant “literal diarrhea” levels of bad. I always interpreted it more like “middle school boy” bad; multiple layers of clothing in a hot climate, constantly moving around, sweaty, and musty because of the environment he is in.
But some people act like he bathes in sewage or something. It’s not that serious, it’s just annoying when people are trying to talk about headcanons or analyze his motives and somebody jumps in with “yeah and he smells like absolute garbage.”
