Noctis tensed as the door to the closet creaked open, flinching from the beam of light it cast upon his huddled from, ducking his head to hide away from whoever had found him in his arms. The teen barely resisted the urge to whimper, still overwhelmed from the confrontation that had the young prince fleeing to his room in the first place.

“How do you get so many of these done?” Noct mumbled, tongue poking out slightly in concentration as he carefully wove a braid into Aranea’s hair. 

He’d been shocked she’d agreed to even let him, so he was making sure to take extra care not to pull the strands. As much as he loved his own hair played with, there was undeniably something just as soothing as playing with someone else’s.

The smell of smoked fish soaked through the brown paper bag, not that Sidus minded, but he was more concern with being caught with said bag. Tiny echo's accompanied his careful footsteps, eyes ever vigilant as he snuck into the back of his brother's enclosure. "Noctis, hey Noctis. Got you something."

On a fun note, I love getting to write Noct just being a little shit. Teasing the boys, messing around with his warping and being a general menace. 

On the more serious side, Noct is surprisingly enjoyable to write bc of his emotional complexity. He goes through so much shit in canon and doesnt really get a proper chance to process it. I like writing that processing aspect even if i secretly dont think i write it very well. I try

He has a lil list of all the types of fish you can catch and marks down what he’s caught and every time he catches a new species he compares it to the list and marks it off. He lowkey has a goal of catching every fish out there. 

He also likes to pick up random things that catch his eye. Usually things like lost jewellery or neat shaped rocks and shells.

Howling winds shook the old aquarium, as if it was made of carboard. Which, Sidus knew wasn't true. However, the creeks and moans that shuttered through the building could convince him other wise. But now was not the time for that. "Hey, Noctis," voice echoed though the exibit's back room. "Did Shaun remember to feed you?" Kneeling at the edge of, his nose was suddenly assaulted by strong smell of chlorine. "Noctis?"

A high keen came from the corner of the tank, the mer in question curled around himself in a pathetic looking twist of limp, dull fins and scales. Noctis chirped at his brother, a new pitch the other hadn’t heard from him yet but that clearly signalled distress.  

He didn’t know what the human had tipped in his water, too nervous of his stomping feet and angrily mumbled words to peek his head above to listen in, but it clearly had made him sick. Had he tried to poison him?
