I want to see someone make a video essay covering a horror project that doesnât actually exist. Not in the sense of an in-universe coverage of something thatâs treated as actually existing in the narrative (catastrophe crow, resignation incident, and some Minecraft args come to mind), I mean a full in-depth analysis and explanation of a horror project that you cannot find anywhere else and cannot watch. Your only way to experience this story is to have it filtered through someone elseâs perception of it.
Some people have already brought up Sagan Hawkes and his dinosaur video, and while I do love it, it falls into the same category as the prior mentioned ones, where it treats its subject matter as an extant piece of media that was simply found.
I mean a video more in the style of a summary or analysis of a piece of internet horror, something thatâs acknowledged as being fictional, but doesnât exist. Imagine a Night Mind style video with an in-depth dive and short clips of something that you canât find anywhere else, with someone already explaining it for you and distorting your perception as a result.
Wouldn't the fact that you can experience the story through the deep-dive video mean that the video became a vehicle for the storytelling, and thus, that media exists?

you might think the worst type of adaptation that can happen to a fandom is a bad one. but in truth, i find that's rarely the case. usually the world at large doesn't pay attention, the fandom unites around the piece's badness, and otherwise continues along as usual. hell, if the adaptation is so-bad-it's-good then it really can evolve into quite a nice treat, once the sting has worn off.
no, what you actually gotta look out for is the mediocre adaptations. the pretty but soulless adaptations. the technically-competent-but-misses-the-point adaptations. because there will be enough folks who think that the new Adaptation is Good, Actually, and no matter how politely you word your disagreement, they will resent you for saying as much.
It really says something that a lot of monogamous people consider polyamorous and aromantic to be "opposites" but every polyam person I know took one look at aromantics and said "they're just like me for real"
Poly folks x aro folks in the sense that "alloromantic heterosexual monogamous people view love and sex as an entirely different entity than me, and that makes life kinda strange"

I kept forgetting my nighttime antidepressant so I set an alarm where the sound was a recording of me saying "HEY. TAKE YOUR FUCKING PILL" because I thought it would be funny. It was funny about three times, and then it started making me mad and I'd dismiss it right away to make it stop. So I handed my phone to my partner, who made another recording sweetly saying "Okay Shira, it's time to take your medication" and now I don't get mad anymore and I take my pill. The "compassion over punishment" camp has gotta get something wrong one of these days
Two conclusions to be drawn from this picture:
1 - the geese in the background show that the fake coyote doesn't deter geese
2 - the fact they needed to put up a sign implies that the fake coyote did deter humans
huh. so i just found out "Torment Nexus" was invented for that one specific meme. i genuinely thought it was from an Orson Scott Welles novel. my ignorance is an unending source of surprise and delight
