Alena KOSTORNAIA (RUS) set two new world records in senior ladies’ figure skating at the Grand Prix Final 2019 in Turin, Italy. Kostornaia scored 85.45 in the Short Program, breaking the previous record of 85.04 set by herself at NHK Trophy 2019. Despite placing second in the Free Skate to teammate Anna SHCHERBAKOVA (RUS), Kostornaia broke the combined total record score of 241.02 previously held by teammate Alexandra TRUSOVA (RUS), earning a total score of 247.59 due to her large lead after the short.

Kostornaia became the 5th lady after Mao Asada (JPN), Yuna Kim (KOR), Evgenia Medvedeva (RUS), and Alina Zagitova (RUS) to win the Senior Grand Prix Final after winning the Junior Grand Prix Final the previous year.
