but what if they hugged?? What if they touched foreheads??? What if they cried together????? What if they laughed together???? What if they loved each other SO DAMN MUCH??????
every other case Watson is like "can I come along? unless I am nothing but dead weight to you. In which case I brought a hammer for you to beat me to death with." and Holmes always replies something along the lines of "You are my bestest friend and if you came along that would make me the happiest man in the world. Pack your gun." peace and love. also what is wrong with them.
Gorgeous little musical :') Gorgeous little love letter to Watson as a character honestly. I absolutley loved it and I can't believe I'm just discovering it now!
i'm going to reblog this every day untill everyone (or at least every one of my sherlock holmes mutuals) watches this
but also, allow me to convince you with this adorable banger that will put a smile on your face for sure...
(the lyrics are in the description ;) )
"it was worth a wound—it was worth many wounds—to know the depth of loyalty and love which lay behind that cold mask."

hi guys, idk how many of the old moots still remember us, but @dontbotheraziraphale and I are running a tiny little gofundme and it would mean the world if you'd take a second to go check it out and share it <3
It's so insane to me that so many straight male Sherlock Holmes fans see him as this super badass Masculine Hero who's so cool and Manly and immune to Silly Little Feminine Emotions when in reality he is, and I say this with all the love in my dykey little heart, A Faggot.
Straight men are really out here fantasizing about the Heroic Super-Masculine Toughguy Adventures of a guy who plays violin, builds pillow forts, loves puppies, has a scrapbook, keeps bees, and whose two main hobbies are solving puzzles and taking his boyfriend out on dates. Like I think they've literally just made up a completely separate character in their heads.
It’s crazy to me that people read Sherlock Holmes’ obsession with Irene Adler as romantic when it is so clearly the same kind of obsession that gay men have for Lady Gaga
How straight fans imagine Holmes looks at Irene’s picture: Oh god, what a woman! She has captivated me, body and soul, and I am filled with lust for her
What he actually thinks when looks at her picture: omg yasss queen slay
I’m seriously considering making a small zine that talks about reading Holmes as queer and then slipping them into all of the copies of Sherlock Holmes at the library. Literally just for fun. Should I do this
If anyone wants to help me with this, this is what I need:
- Your favorite textual evidence that supports any reading of queer Holmes (any flavor of LGBTQ)
- If anyone wants to contribute some art to the zine that would be really cute
- If anyone wants to beta read, I would definitely appreciate that
- if anyone has a favorite essay or article that talks about reading Sherlock Holmes as queer, please leave a link to it
I’ve already started writing and I can tell right now that the biggest issue will be fitting it all into a tiny zine 😅 there’s just so much to say
forever mourning how granada holmes never adapted the three garridebs. diabolical. unbelievable, even. 'if you had killed watson you would not have made it out of this room alive' but in brett's frightfully intense and low, biting, hissing voice. the violent, wild stare versus the gentle hand on watson's knee. all of that precarious control getting flung out the window. the humanity of it. gritting my teeth can you fucking imagine.
I wrote a fic that...kind of rectified this? Building on what they tried to do in combining Three Garridebs and Mazarin Stone, anyway. Holmes returns from the Highlands to learn that Watson was injured during a case without him.
(And yes, I put that line in there!)

I see so many appreciation blogs for Brett's Holmes but where is the appreciation for Burke's Watson? :(
The man was wonderful! Absolutely brilliant acting, insanely lovable portrayal of Dr Watson, the facial expressions, the tone of his voice, the everything. His Watson doesn't feel like a bumbling sidekick or a strictly professional partner. He feels like a steadfast friend who cares deeply about Holmes, watches him carefully, learns from him, and is inherently intelligent in his own way.
He's so sincere. I think that's what really gets me about Burke's Watson, his sincerity is disarming.
beginning to arrange Watson's Sketchbook for print and I would like a WORD with the miserable creature who drew so many of them incredibly low res, in wildly varying styles and line weights, neglected to name a single file, AND made a bunch of comics that have no clear page breaks
It’s 175 pages long btw
Designing covers is hard but I think this is the one…using one of my first Holmes illustrations and with a typeface that references some of the original collected editions:
"Sherlock Holmes and the Mysterious Friend of Oscar Wilde" by Russel A. Brown, a Stonewall Inn Mystery (1988, Published by St. Martin's Press)
hey irregulars does anyone have a boot/recording of The Secret of Sherlock Holmes? I can only find the audio is that all that exists? Thx in advance darlings
