He’s really pretty! I like how facet and glimmer make his colors stronger, so he’s less pastel and more candy colored.

‘S weird how the site is so big now, but it feels like I’m having a much harder time finding unusual color combinations than I did a year or two ago.
I think it’s the obsession about doubles and all the people talking about “ugly” color combinations. While there are some color combinations that certainly don’t work, I think all the strong talk about it has made newer players a lot more cautious about dragon breeding.
People don’t breed interesting colors anymore. They breed ‘safe’ colors that will sell to newbies who want pretty dragons or other people who collect those color combos. Its why I’ve honestly had so many gene projects and why g1s will probably become even MORE valuable in the future. People stop breeding dragons with super wide ranges to get strange colors/color vomit in favor of smaller, more controlled, ranges. Not saying that’s bad. But when everyone is breeding triple caribbeans with triple seafoams… there isn’t a lot of variation.
A few people breed interesting combos still, but it’s still few enough that last week I paid 250g for a coatl in colors people would have turned up their noses at a year ago. (Worth it.)
And y’know, I think this is why we’re getting genes with so many variations on their accent colors - it gives people like me who are stuck in the double color rut new considerations when we’re planning out breeding pairs.
‘Course, it could go the direction of smaller comfort zones and we end up with lots of people with pairs of even tighter ranges than we have now, but…
What counts as an interesting combo? I have some that are similar ranges, but breeding doubles has never really been my aim, as I find mixed blends much more tastier. I’m vaguely trying to hold off on some projects until the new colors are actually added, but here’s a current project.
