Fugaku canonicaly has the Mangekyou (in the anime, anyway), but we’re never told who he lost to obtain it, so I snuck in this explanation for the comic instead :3c And yup! I originally wanted Itachi to be like his mom, but then I realized, wouldn’t it be way more hecked up if Itachi’s peaceful nature is more like his dad’s original personality, and it was actually Mikoto who started the uprising?? sickk i love it
YEAH! I haven’t elaborated much on Sakumo’s samurai days, mostly because it’s not relevant to the comic and I haven’t developed the saumrai world as deeply as I have the shinobi one, but Sakumo probably met a younger Mifune in Rain, yeah. Originally I planned on Tomoe being Mifune’s brother, or, at the very least, related to him, but then I discarded it because involving more unnecessary characters quickly gets convoluted. Plus, I like hearing people speculate as to who Kakashi’s mom really was with such few context clues. She really could have been anyone :’)

We poured a lot of effort into it! As I was saying over on my personal, I felt it really achieved the mood I’ve been trying to strike with this whole adventure... something along the lines of ‘scream loud enough and make this shithole beautiful’, as I so eloquently put it over there. After the kids endured so much suffering at the hands of the game, I wanted to give them a chance to actively improve the situation the game put them in in a very striking, visually obvious way. I’m glad it resonated with people.
