ok. so. this gave me a lot of difficulty. there are 4 or 5 different scrapped story ideas that i got a few hundred words into before getting stuck. many of them featured the requested body horror/coming back wrong. but unfortunately none of them stuck. i can @ my intended recipient if i ever finish them, but i don't know when thatll be, because naturally a bunch of real life things came up.
anyway. made this one because I liked the dark shadows n whatnot. it doesn't have anything to do with the original symbolism and meaning but. oh well i think it looks pretty sick.
well now im EXTRA late but i never expected to be able to make 1 thing a day HEHE. another bit of writing for @skizzlemanweek !

As the van rolled up to the house their next job was at, Skizz, Scar and Grian all stared out the window apprehensively, looking a little bit like dogs put in time-out. Hunting ghosts was bad enough (though they generally enjoyed it), but with a storm like this raging outside? There was no way they’d be getting that perfect job pay tonight.
“This is the right road, yeah, Skizz?” Impulse asked beside him, taking a tentative glance at the map on his friend’s phone as the van slowed to a stop.
“Yeah, this is the one,” he sighed. “I still don’t get why we gotta do this today, you know.”
“This family’s house is haunted, Skizz,” Gem reminded. “I’m pretty sure they want that thing gone as soon as possible.”
“We could do a better job if it was quiet outside though,” argued Scar, “And we aren’t even the ones doing the, what’s it called- the exorcist-m! We just tell ‘em what kinda ghost it is!”
“We’ll be fine, quit cryin’,” Impulse waved them off and killed the engine, looking through their equipment.
Grian walked up to the front of the van, passing Gem who was gathering up a video camera and a tripod. “Well, Gem, looks like I’m staying in the van with you.”
An offended cry came from Skizz outside, “No you’re not, G, get your butt out here!”
“Yeah!” yelled Scar, “If we gotta get all soggy, so do you!”
“You guys are so dramatic,” Gem sighed, tucking the electronics in her jacket to shield them during the short walk to the front door. “We’re gonna be inside like, the entire time.”
“But there’s a GHOST in there!” Skizz pouted indignantly, unlocking the door and heading inside anyway.
The investigators got to work scouring the little house, which was admittedly quite cozy. Were they not here to hunt ghosts, the rain tapping on the windows probably would have been relaxing.
The warmth soon faded, though, as Gem waved the thermometer around and felt a cold chill upon entering a larger room. “I found it,” she informed over the radio.
“Where?” Grian asked.
“Right here,” she clarified.
“Where is ‘here’?” Impulse questioned.
“Here!” She smiled at Skizz, who was just rounding the corner into the room.
“Oh, it’s in the livingroom,” he chuckled.
As their friends filtered in and began setting up their equipment, Skizz noticed a fireplace set into the wall.
“Ooh, I wanna light the fire, dude!” He bounded over, patting his pockets but finding only his flashlight and an EMF reader inside.
“I got it,” Impulse walked up beside him, lighter in hand.
“Man! I forgot my free lighter,” Skizz lamented, “I’m gonna go get it before a hunt starts.”
He giggled at the sound of Impulse’s voice getting quieter as he rushed for the exit, scolding him for “forgetting his free lighter like an amateur”.
When he finally reached the door, however, it slammed shut. He somehow managed not to cry out in surprise, slapping his hand over his mouth (and nose, which had smashed right into the door). He scrambled to hide behind a conveniently placed stack of boxes in the corner of the room, suddenly thankful for the sound of the rain that obscured his heavy breathing.
The hunt felt like it lasted forever - longer than usual, even - but Skizz somehow managed to survive. He definitely heard choking from somewhere though, and he was pretty sure he heard Scar yell something like “It’s all over!”, so he was pretty confident not all of his friends could say the same.
“Who died?” he asked his walkie-talkie, shining his flashlight into the kitchen. The light passed over Impulse and Scar’s bodies, which were almost stacked on top of each other.
No response from the radio. He stepped into the next room and all but tripped over Grian, whose hand was wrapped around a planchette.
“Oh my god, all three of you?”
He may have laughed, just a little bit. But it was mostly out of shock, okay?
A fork flung itself in his direction, missing by a mile. He definitely laughed that time.
A sudden clap of thunder made Skizz yell, then run to the front door and wrench it open. He refused to get trapped in there again. The wind blasted rain into his face, but he fought against it and rushed to the van (a bit cartoonishly, the way his shoes slipped on the path a couple times).
He stood at the top of the ramp and caught his breath for a moment. When he looked up, Gem was sat staring at him with wide eyes.
“Skizz, what happened in there?”
He stood up straight, water dripping from his hair, and looked her in the eye.
“Let’s G.A.G. demon.”
“Yeah, okay,” she circled it in her journal while Skizz shut the doors, and three clipboards landed on the desk.

DAY 1 PROMPT : Calm / chaos (kitchen)

“This guy wants something, what’s he want!?” Skizz yelled across the restaurant floor, all but throwing a plate into the sink where Jimmy was already washing up, the chef perfectly dodging the resulting wave of water in a practised motion.
Tango wordlessly screamed at the ice cream tubs in front of him and the bowl of strawberry and vanilla in his hand, unable to make the dash back to the customer to ask what they ordered. “I screwed up the ice cream, what does he want!? One of each?”
“He wants- yeah, one of each,” Skizz glanced over his shoulder at the customer whose patience was rapidly waning.
Jimmy leaned over the sink, unable to do anything but watch from the kitchen. “No, that’s the other guy, right?”
The server skidded across the floor, neapolitan in hand, but it was too late - the customer gave him a sharp look and reiterated their order: strawberry and chocolate.
Time stood still for a moment, Tango’s face falling in despair. “We lost. It’s done.”
Jimmy mournfully agreed, but Skizz still took a moment to catch up in between sweeping and gathering dirty dishes. “Wait, wait! It’s the guy on the left who was ordering? Come on!”
As Tango made a final mad dash to the ice cream, Skizz cheered, “You gotta believe, dude!”
All eyes were on their faithful server, hoping against hope that he could make it in the nick of time…!
Tango fell flat on his face before he even reached the counter and the customer stormed out.
A chorus of “no”s rang through the restaurant, all three of them bemoaning the imminent loss of the franchise they had worked so hard to build. But alas, one wrong move in one restaurant and the whole chain is done for by morning. That’s just how it is in the culinary world.
“My baaad,” groaned Tango, “Sorry.”
“No it’s not, dude,” Skizz tossed aside his broom and jogged over to put his hands on Tango’s shoulders, “That was impossible. Those guys gave you no time!”
Jimmy clambered over the kitchen counter to meet them, echoing sympathies and complaints about how impatient customers could be.
“And by the way,” the cleaner continued, “What are they even mad for? We gave them extra ice cream! Who doesn’t like free ice cream?”
The chef muttered, “I mean they might’ve been allergic to vanilla, but yeah.”
Skizz crossed his arms. “Ice cream is stupid,” he decided. “Who gets pizza, ice cream, and potatoes!?”
His coworkers laughed, knowing full well they had decided as a group to start selling all three of those things. Their reaction seemed to satisfy him, a smile settling on his face as he walked over to the now-abandoned table.
“Well gentlemen, we may have failed, but the worst is yet to come. Check this out,” Skizz picked up a bowl and presented it in both hands, “We got a lotta ice cream to use up before this place gets shut down.”
“And pizza!” Jimmy added helpfully.
“And potatoes,” nodded Skizz.
“Good, ‘cus I don’t wanna look at ice cream ever again,” Tango complained, though he couldn’t hide the smirk that lingered on his face - and when Skizz shoved a spoonful of vanilla towards him yelling something about incoming stomach aches, he couldn’t bring himself to push it away.

i have weird nebulous boundaries when it comes to shipping minecraft characters representing real people and i generally tend to prefer QPR at most but a hard line is i am extremely uncomfortable with RPF so none of that around me thank you 👍
