It had to do with Japanese cuisine. For example, green onions/scallions are used in a lot of dishes (while not one-to-one, the best comparison that comes to mind is herbs like parsley and basil in a lot of western cuisines)
The original quote might make a bit more sense for some: ā[Kunikidaās] ranting adds spice to my daysā¦theyāre like condiments. Like the scallions on top of your ramenā¦thatās what he is. A scallionā
Personally, Iāve always taken it as Kunikidaās ranting/anger makes Dazaiās days more interesting/not bland (but Atsushi can be a substitute if Kunikidaās away)

I have a NEED for more fics that depict Dazai as being someone thatās inherently slightly unsettling.
Not scary or threatening or intimidating but justā¦off. Itās an aspect of his character that doesnāt seem to appear in a lot of fanon. Heās just so WEIRD in canon.
No matter how charismatic/charming/endearing/amusing/enthusiastic he presents himself as being, there is always SOMETHING in his eye ā some small, unnameable thing ā that triggers a sense of discomfort in the other person. Itās seen time and time again within canon.
He just canāt help it. Whatever it is, itās always lingering within Dazai internally and can be seen in his gaze.
Itās so so interesting and Iām so sad I never see anybody else talking about it.

The pair spent the next few moments staring at each other in silence so heavy and noxious you might think it was a stare-down between the grim reaper and a demon. A single word rang in Moriās head over and over like an alarm.
Miscalculation.
You misjudged the situation, he told himself. You failed to pick the optimal solution. You shouldnāt have chosen this child to help you. Dazai is unpredictable. He can be sharp, but in a dark, twisted way. Heās observant. Heās cold and calculating with no equivalent even in the Mafia, where the most evil reside.
