Since it's pride month now, I've just been thinking about my experience as an aroace person, especially one in a openly homophobic country too.How there are so many queer people around me who fear to share about who they love or who they don't.About how even people in the same community exhibit so much internalized homophobia and bigotry to others.About how asexual and aromantics are dismissed and told by people in the same community that they'll "grow out of it".I think about how bisexuals and lesbians in my life have dismissed me and told me that my aversion to sex and men will pass and if not,then I'll just become a lesbian even though I've never had a crush or sexual attraction to any gender for 6 years.I think about the level of transphobia in my queer peers;how some of them openly talk about how "disgusting" it is even though they themselves face opposition for loving the same gender

I think about my country and how the act of loving a person can cause such turmoil that the church rejects bills to even allow queer communities and events to exist without fear of being targeted by the police.I think about the future of young people in this country, one's who witness violence and harassment against a man who was just wearing a skirt.I think about how they will see this and think of it as normal.

I think about the young queer people in this country who fear to speak aloud of their love,who live in isolation and loneliness.Who other themselves because of it

I think of a time, hopefully in the future,in which I can attend a peaceful pride parade in this country or go to my lesbian friend's wedding, wearing traditional attire and smiling,with family and friends there celebrating in joy.I think of a time in which this won't be a sin to them for it will be love💓💓

This is going to sound very "oh my steak is too juicy,oh my lobster is too buttery" to the masses of danmei fans whose favs haven't been adapted yet(SVSSS 🤕) but when it comes to MDZS,as much as it has multiple adaptations of the same novel,all of them just... don't do the novel justice?Okay,maybe not justice but they do fundamentally change a lot from the original source material because of 🌈censorship 🌈.

The untamed to me is just straight mdzs propaganda and I barely consider it even an adaptation of the original novel cuz what they did was take the characters and the general plot and changed EVERYTHING else.They took most of the things in the novel as suggestions and made their own fanfic;like the whole thing with yin iron,the weird relationship between JC and WQ,them making class conscious LWJ CHIEF CULTIVATOR!! making wangxian leave each other at the end like don't pmo

The donghua IS better but censorship still exists(they did feed us with he whole wangxian wearing red).The censorship interfered with a lot of the pacing like the way Guanyin temple scene just felt rushed in the donghua and plot structure was organized(S1 covering book 1 and book 3,S2 covering book 2,S3 covering book 4 and 5)

I can't say much for the manhua and the stage play cuz I haven't consumed them that much but I did hear the manhua's censorship was barely any.

I'm still SUPER grateful for any adaptation.It isn't common for a danmei to be adapted so many times but I do wish ONE could have been fully loyal to the source tbh

About to reread Purple Hyacinth.Kinda nervous guys since this story literally changed my life 4 years ago but I can't remember anything that isn't lauki and the apostles(I think?)

Forever convinced that no matter what, Jin Zixuan is in fact, the BEST man of all the mdzs men. This man started off being described as rich, spoilt, and uptight, as opposed to the Yunmeng boys and also possibly the Lan, and yet he is first punched for being a teenager and not wanting an arranged marriage with a girl he was pretty sure liked Wei Wuxian anyway, and then for standing up for a servant girl whose credit he (wrongly) believed was being stolen by a highborn woman, and he still manages to listen to his wife so much he is a) kept out of his father's murder plans despite being the principal son and heir, b) invites the boy who punched him multiple times to his son's celebration and delivers said invitation, and c) actually dies de-escalating something he needn't even have bothered to involve himself in. For a story which appears to put selfless service to others above all, the spoilt rich boy sure does die doing so, because he had the good sense to appreciate a virtuous woman and it worked spectacularly for him. Jin Ling's inherent goodness has very little to do with Wei Wuxian, and everything to do with the type of people his parents had been.
