   ❛ I thought maybe it would be nice if… ❜ His words hung with mystery, in the air.

「 I apologize, I -」Her heart stirred for a moment, almost catching on to what he was asking. It was a thought that had been swiftly banished, however. For to her, it was utter nonsense. 「 I do not think I understand what it is which you ask of me... 」Regardless, she carefully continued to set the homemade tea onto the table space between their seats. Whatever had been on his mind, Jade was certain that it was important. For him to call upon such a vague acquaintance was something of a surprise, in her eyes.

“Not at all, I was actually just finishing up.” Connor said, trying to reassure the girl. Truth be told, he had been meditating for quite some time now and really needed the chance to stretch his legs. “Is there anything I can help you with?”

  「Well, since you ask.」 She had been holding something by her side, and raised it into view. It was a vest of some kind. By the looks of it, it had been made of Kevlar or something similar. 「I was wondering if perhaps you might know how to repair a Graphene Vest...I truly have been notoriously unkind to it.」There was what seemed to be a hint of shyness in her tone, though the reason was rather mysterious.

Connor sat in the center of his team’s room, legs crossed and eyes closed. His hands rested on his knees as the redhead breathed in deeply and exhaled. Breathe in. Breathe Out. Breathe in. Breathe Out. Such was the rhythm of his meditation. He could feel the tension leave his body as his mind became calm. He really had to thank Shanyin for giving him some pointers on the subject. Yes, with his mind clearing of distractions, he could focus on–

Knock. Knock. Knock.

Connor’s eyes shot open at the sound of someone knocking on the door. It was probably nothing, he thought as he closed them, settling back into the calm he found earlier. Maybe they were looking for one of his teammates. Plus, it was a good chance to see if he could maintain his focus while distracted.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

Realizing they probably wouldn’t stop anytime soon, Connor got up and opened the door.

“Yes?”

   With the second knock, there had been a moment of hesitance. when he opened the door, the source of her hesitation had been confirmed. He seemed rather preoccupied. With a small wince, Jade slowly recoiled her her fist back to her side as she frowned apologetically. “ Apologies, Connor is this not a good time...? “

“I see…” She seemed to agree, nodding at his truthful words. “..yes, weather is certainly potent…” Nuramasa referenced herself to past events, recalling freezing temperatures in the mountains of Atlas. “It seems such a simple concept though, it’s hard to believe the idea might escape some…”

“Well, conventional thought seems to be overwhelming force is the key to victory.” Connor said, shaking his head. “Personally, I believe the best victories are the ones that use the least resources to get the best results.”

“…” In serious fit of thought, she began to rap her fingers against the table. “Perhaps the generals who choose brute force might not only seek military victory? I dare not take these as my own words, but…between emotions and intellect, emotions are far easier to influence. Not to mention, those of heart seem to far outnumber those of mind. Through acts of bravery and shows of grandiose strength,  a courageous and daring commander would crush another more reserved adversary in a battle of morale, and even numbers.”

“I’m not disagreeing with that fact, good leaders require both. But what I meant was that using everything you have at once is not the best strategy.” Connor closed his eyes and hummed. “In retrospect, I probably could have worded that much better.”

"You are correct in that, then." Seeming serious at first, her demeanor eventually lifted into a higher spirt as she offered a kind chuckle. "Though, I suppose the best strategy would be the one with a worthy cause behind it, hm?"

She makes a mental note - or rather - she creates deep etches within her mind. “Of course, of course…I can hardly believe such a feat had slipped my mind..” She smiles towards the other, before furrowing her brows in honest curiosity. “..Was it the General’s strength that drew your admiration?”

“It wasn’t his strength, but rather his intelligence that drew me to the general.” Connor said. “See, many accounts of the battle tell that the general’ and his forces were poorly equipped and their supply route was cut off. But he warded off those forces using knowledge of the terrain and weather to his advantage.”

    Tapping her fingers, she continued to offer a request. “Might you have the time to elaborate on this General? Knowing that he escaped my mind is quite unsettling…I’d like to remedy that with your help, if you would be so inclined?”

“Well, it’s been a while since I read the biography. But I do remember one particular feat from his military career. It was during the Battle of Vytal, where the general held off enemy forces from all three other kingdoms simultaneously.” Connor said.

        she was a mute, huh. She didn’t seem quite friendly, though there was no need to judge one person by its appearance, even if Sapphire did have a tad bit of hatred toward humans and faunus’. The room was silent, it was as if they were in a very extreme intense conversation, but in reality, it was more or less awkward ( for her, at least. ) & she tried to put a smile on, keeping it friendly there was no need to be harmful or rude at this hour. even though these were the hours where as Sapphire was the most fragile she could ever get.

‘ why are you here then? ’

    Pesky. The woman seemed either insistent furthering the meaningless conversation, or she was attempting to force Asura to divulge her true purpose. Gambling for the former - and the most likely scenario - she obliged to the other’s curiosity. Taking careful steps forward, hardly making a sound, she approached the nosy stranger.     Her hand lifted to her spare blade, and fingers loosely coiled around it’s hilt before drawing it’s rough steel blade. It gleaned and screeched as it was unsheathed, reflecting the bright moon which cast menacing shadows across the halls in which they stood.  Once the blade was fully drawn, she flipped her grip and held the blade upside down - then...oddly enough - she began to shake the blade. 

    Rattle rattle rattle!

    The hilt was loose, and in clear need for repairs.

   “Hm?” Well, that had certainly drawn her full attention. The words following her hum were practically dripping with an energetic curiosity. “And? Have you found any particular figure in history you admire?”

“One of the generals from the Great War…” Connor placed his bookmark between the pages of his book before closing it. “I think it was one of Vale’s finest. General Azure, I believe.”

   “General Azure?” She racked her brain to establish some sort of connection. The name was familiar, and the war even more so. Yet...somehow her memory failed her. How disappointing... “I am familiar with the war, though this General escapes my memory for some odd reason...”     Tapping her fingers, she continued to offer a request. “Might you have the time to elaborate on this General? Knowing that he escaped my mind is quite unsettling...I’d like to remedy that with your help, if you would be so inclined?”
