Devon had stopped texting because he was driving, and speech to text through his car only got him so far when he needed to pay attention to the busy roads as he got close to the hospital. Seeing Cameron standing outside waiting, he pulled up as close as he could get and stopped, making sure the doors were unlocked. With the other man inside, he smiled, looking at Devon as casually as possible too. “You’re okay,” he replied with a soft chuckle. “I’ve got a change of clothes in the back if it really bothers you, but it doesn’t bother me. I’m excited about the drive-ins, I really like it there. Especially with you.” His lips pulled into a soft smile and then he turned to look at the road ahead of him, moving out of park so that he could start heading out towards the outdoor theatre. “I missed you.” He licked his lips. “You don’t have to thank me, I like spending time with you. You don’t have to sleep on the couch either, if you don’t want to. I have plenty of room in my bedroom. I’m comfortable with you, you could stay in my bed if you wanted.”
Devon’s response to his attire made Cam laugh, and he tipped his head back to rest against the seat. “You really are sweet. I don’t recall ever meeting anyone quite like you before. Thanks for overlooking that, for not minding. I know some people do. I like the drive-in too. Even when you physically go in a theater, you’re at risk of distraction and interruption. I’ve been in movies with people who wouldn’t stop talking, who kept getting texts...It’s maddening.” Hearing Devon’s sly remark about liking the drive-in with him made Cameron’s heart skip a beat. “I know I’ll really, really like going with you too.” His cheeks flushed and he started playing with his hands in his lap, unsure of if he should say anything further about that particular topic. “I missed you too, Devon. I’ve really enjoyed spending time with you. You’re different, in the best of ways.” When Devon offered their bed to Cam as an option, Cameron felt his heart skip a beat. It had been a long time since he’d shared a bed with anyone, and the prospect of Devon being the one to change that made him feel things he wasn’t sure he should be feeling, in case they were one-sided. “Thanks for that, Devon. I’d really like that, if you would.”
