Even though the spunky redhead always went out of her way to help people, perhaps her vigilante work had gone a little too far. She had seen a poor young boy almost get robbed by a group of no good teenagers and was quick to come to his defense. Luckily the kid had gotten away without a scratch but the same couldn’t be said about her. Even though she had put up a pretty good fight she had still been left injured. As Barbara caught a glimpse of someone walking by and had weakly called out to them from her spot on the ground. “ A.. little help here? “

Nikon was off work when he heard the small voice, turning quickly and running over to help the other up. “Did someone hurt you?” He asked, definitely concerned that whoever had done this to the other was possibly still lingering around. “I’ll help you up and to a doctor,” he explained, hands gently reaching out to support the other up so she could walk on her own with just a little bit of assistance. He could honestly carry her, but he wasn’t going to cross that barrier if it would make her uncomfortable.

She still didn’t seem entirely convinced by his answer but she wasn’t about to pry or badger him about it. “ Of course. “ she replied, as soon as he requested the seat, making  room for him to sit down. “ Are you sure everything’s okay I could always try and help? “

Nikon took the seat gratefully, taking a deep breath. “I don’t feel well,” he admitted though he shook his head. “But, I’m not sure why. I don’t get sick often, though.” However, such a statement was ridiculous considering anyone and everyone could get sick no matter what.

Nikon had managed to get himself to the dance, content with being by himself for a good portion of the night. But, when he saw Clara, he had the urge to approach her. However, he stopped himself from doing so until he just couldn’t resist. It was like an invisible pull he couldn’t explain away. “Clara,” he said softly. “You look so pretty,” he continued, licking his lip slightly as he was trying his best not to be awkward. “Are you having a good time? Has anyone bothered you? I’m sorry. Did you want to dance with me? I know I’m not supposed to ask, but I thought I would try.”

     Alec started down at the sheet music in his hand, lips pursing slightly as he scanned over the same particular line he had been for the past few minutes. The moment he listened to Anyway by Kerrigan & Lowdermilk, he knew that he had to do his own rendition of the song and had someone adjust the song to fit a key more suitable for his voice. He took in a deep breath and set the paper down before beginning to sing. He was halfway through with the song when his voice cracked, teeth clenching and squelching any sound. This was why he had decided to take a break from his career in the first place, not because he needed an escape. His fist collided with the nearest wall out of frustration. He was a perfectionist to a fault. He stared down at his knuckles at were now bleeding before he noticed he wasn’t alone. “Uh… do you have a bandaid by any chance?” There was no way he was going to address his little outburst if they hadn’t seen it

Nikon had noticed a small voice from a short distance, curiosity causing him to draw closer. However, he hadn’t expected it to end as dramatically as it did. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a few bandaids he’d slipped into his pocket earlier in the day. He reached out to gently take the other’s hand in his after unwrapping one of the bandages. He easily placed it onto one of the bleeding knuckles. “Are you okay?” He asked softly, easily taking charge of taking care of the other though he was probably over stepping boundaries with the stranger.

     After the death of her parents, escapism was one of the only things that held Lucy’s family together. While most of her siblings had moved on their lives and matured leaps and bounds, she still found joy in playing pretend. That was the main reason she had opened her shop in the first place. The space was meant to look like a normal spare bedroom, rather plain with a wardrobe in the far corner. But through that door was a room that could be decorated to play into the fantasies of any child as much as possible. Usually, it was parents who rented out the room with a wishlist in hand, so it was a surprise when someone walked in who appeared to be just a tad bit too young to have a child. Though appearances were sometimes deceiving. She perked up as she walked over to greet them, “Hi! Can I help you?” She was hoping they weren’t actually lost and wandered in for directions.

Nikon wasn’t exactly sure what the shop was or what it was for, he just needed a small space to take a breath and step away from the crowds. He was swimming in his own thoughts when the other addressed him, internally panicking on how he should go about speaking. He didn’t want to appear rude and say he was only popping in for a moment, nor did he want to say he had no idea what this place even was. But, ultimately, he wanted to look interested so as to not let the other’s efforts go to waste. He clear his throat slightly. “What is this place?” He asked softly, motioning to the space. Perhaps not the best question, but he could listen and perhaps the woman wouldn’t mind explaining it to him.

Audrey had turned to the stranger as soon as she felt the tap upon her shoulder. “ Oh I wouldn’t know but I don’t think so… “ She began. Her expression had quickly turned to a concerned one however when she saw him, clearly struggling. “ Oh my god, mr are you alright? “ she asked, filled with genuine concern. She had been wounded enough on her own to know when someone was needing of assistance. 

Nikon had wished that the other wouldn’t notice something off about him. Honestly, he’d hoped she’d even lie and say that the temperature did see off. “I’m fine,” he said, shaking his head despite his answer. He felt more and more lightheaded the longer he spoke. “I didn’t sleep well last night. My mind must be playing tricks on me,” he said. He was already tired from talking, never talking so much. Or, at least to someone he didn’t know well. “Can I sit?” He asked, pointing to the seat.

Nikon couldn’t stop his shaking, the chill of the air feeling even colder with how his body was trying to deal with the concerning wound he’d attempted to take care of himself. He had first aid training and figured he’d be fine patching up the minor stab from the night prior. But, what he needed was to rest, which was something he wasn’t doing. There’s was a small sheen of sweat on his brow despite the cold weather. “Excuse me,” he said softly, tapping someone’s arm very lightly. “Would you know if there’s a problem with the thermostat? It’s feels like the same as outside.”

With so much weighing on her mind for the past few days, Addison had decided to spend the night working on one of the many crafts she had saved to one of her Pinterest boards as some source of distraction. She was proudly displaying one of bright pink and green bracelets with a golden printed name scribbled across the band to the other, a bright smile on her face. “ So, what do you think ? Are they lame or totally awesome ? ”

A small smile graced Nikon’s lips as he looked at the bracelet and nodded. It was rather nice considering he’d never been one for arts and crafts. “Pretty,” he said softly and simply. He recognized the girl from around and knew she was rather nice. “All by yourself? For business?” He asked, sure she could be the owner of some sort of jewelry boutique.

Nikon didn’t show up for work for the first time since he started, feeling overwhelmingly sick the moment he woke up. But, as night overtook the small town, he needed to go out to find something to eat considering nothing he had at home was at all appetizing. Which was strange considering Nikon was never a picky eater. His eyes nearly glowed red without his knowing as someone passed by. He could hear something with them, something that made his practically salivate like a dog. He reached out and grabbed their hand without much of a thought, apologizing quickly for his uncharacteristic behavior. “Sorry. I don’t know what came over me.”

Clara was neither old enough to drink or someone who enjoyed indulging in underage drinking and yet here she was, drunk off her ass in the least graceful way possible. She managed to make her way outside the dance hall where the masquerade was being held, sitting down on the slightly damp grass as she pulled her mask off. It took her a few moments to realize that someone was standing nearby, probably wondering what the hell she was doing right now. She let out a sigh and pushed back her presently messy hair, “I promise I’m not usually like this.” She muttered, feeling the need to defend her sloppy behavior. But, did she really owe a possible stranger any explanation? No. “Can I tell you something? And you promise you won’t tell anyone else?”

If Nikon was being honest, and he always wanted to be, he’d been wondering just which mask was hiding Clara beneath. One wouldn’t think it would be hard to spot someone just because they wore something covering half of their face, but with everyone obscured it was. He decided it was time to get some air, the crowded room suffocating him and making him uncomfortable. He didn’t think he’d find Clara out here as well. She didn’t look like she was doing well considering she was sitting in the grass and her hair was more than out of place. He carefully came up to her and nodded, sitting down next to the girl to listen patiently.

he liked dancing, it was a simple enough answer but it still made her feel a bit on the suspicious side. not of him, of course, but of fate possibly stringing them together. maybe it was the universe forcing her to outgrow her own whimsical imagined life. she felt her throat tighten slightly as he extended his hand out toward her, a bit hesitant before she met his touch. It definitely wasn’t the first time they had danced like this, but it was in a way. her hand slipped onto his shoulder, a nervous smile spreading across her lips as she began to move to the rhythm of the slower song that was currently playing over the town hall’s sound system.

Nikon was happy that the other had decided to take his offer, feeling drawn to her as he always did when he found her nearby. But, words had always failed him when he saw her, though words had always been a tricky thing for him. He just hoped that Clara didn’t mind. He carefully and elegantly danced with her, mindful of their surroundings. But, the more they danced, the more he forgot about anxieties that closed his throat in situations like these. “You look really pretty,” he said softly. He hadn’t complimented anyone willingly before.

though she considered herself a city girl just by nature, there were some benefits of living in a smaller town. for example, if she lived anywhere else naomi would definitely be stuck finding a new way to relax. well, she could always still go get wasted in a bar, or come up with some petty revenge plot, but she’d have to backup for when those didn’t work. she’d miss the feel of the road underneath her back, and the light from the nearby corner store. she didn’t know how it hadn’t gone out of business. every time she was here it seemed empty. then again she was fairly certain it was past midnight at this point, but there was still some alcohol in her brain so she didn’t trust herself to go and guess the time. she had just taken a drag from her cigarette when she heard steps nearby. naomi did not bother to look up. “if you’ve got something to say you’re going to have to lie down with me.” of course given the hour and location it could also be a murderer, but she figured she’d handle that issue if it came up. “i only talk to road people right now.”

nikon was on his way home late at night when he spotted someone laying in the road. his immediate thought was that they were hurt and needed help – resulting in him quickly running over to check on them. he blinked a few times, however, when the news broke that the girl was fine and purposefully laying in the road like this. it made him a bit uneasy just to leave her like this, feeling as though he would be partially responsible if anything did happen to her and he hadn’t done anything. he chose to sit down rather than lay. “you okay?” he asked, not sure what else he should do or say. he couldn’t force her up, but he wasn’t going to leave her alone.

Nikon had never really felt the urge to seek how social interaction. He was quite the introvert and watching other people interact was enough to satisfy him. But, that didn’t mean he never got lonely, because he did. During those times, however, he simply told himself that he was being foolish and he needed to get over it. And, over time he did. Today was one of those times, but the talking himself down was proving less than successful. He’d just gotten off of his shift when he noticed someone with far too many bags for someone to carry. He stepped forward and offered his hand, open palms showing he’d no ill intention. “Would you like help?” He asked, meaning if they needed help carrying their bags and that he would do so and carry them all the way to their home, car, or alternative destination.
