          for a brief second, surprise flashes across teddy’s features at how harsh nadia replies, but as quick as it came it’s gone and replaced with an easy lopsided smile. it’s always been easy for him to shake off most anything, to keep his issues drawn close to himself – but the enmity within her voice still leaves him rattled more than he expects to be. he isn’t sure what he was expecting her to say, but it certainly wasn’t that. whatever. a part of him wonders if it’s well-deserved – he had been the one to end it after all. but time hasn’t left him bitter ( he wonders if she is ). ❝ couldn’t think of anything better to say to you, ❞ he says with a shrug. and that is the truth. he’d wanted to say ‘hello’ before he talked himself out of it – he’s thinking he might come to regret that now. the longer he stands in front of her, the more uncomfortable he becomes, and he wonders if it’s obvious. it’s been a long time since someone has spoken to him so bluntly – and a longer time even since it’s been from a person he’s cared about. ❝ that actually stung – ❞ he admits, punctuating each word with a nod of his head. the verbal blow struck hard – he’s rattled. ❝ well, ❞ he draws out the word, ❝ if you’re going to leave now, i’ll take the last word. you look good, nadia. time’s treated you well. ❞

       ❝ really? couldn’t think of anything better? poor you. maybe you should turn back around & go give your attention to someone who might actually want to give you the time of day. i’ve got people to see & people to talk too. so if you don’t MIND. ❞ she hisses, wanting nothing to do with this entire conversation. any time she sees him across the crowd in a public place she can’t help but feel SOMETHING. that something being a feeling she never wanted to feel again. this entire conversation happened to affect her in so many different ways. she was annoyed, sad & maybe still a little bit broken from their relationship.  ❝ good, i’m glad i could hurt you. although, it’s not enough. ❞ she shrugged, biting her lip as she peered over at him --- taking in his entire appearance.  ❝ could say the same to you, theo. ❞ she admitted, her cheeks turning a slight shade of red as she blushed at his comment.

          teddy sees her and it’s like he’s in high school again. his heart has begun to race, and his mind floods with memories of him and nadia. honestly, he can’t figure out why he’s surprised that she’s there – he’s the one who’s out of place anyways – but still he’s staring and maybe he should look away but he can’t. it isn’t like he’s hung up on her. maybe once he would have said that he was, but too much time has passed and all he ever feels when he thinks of her is maybe some wistful nostalgia. another minute passes ( or maybe it’s five ) but finally teddy makes up his mind to say hello. he figures it’s better to bite the bullet sooner rather than later – odds are he’d be seeing her again throughout the night, and he’d rather that he be the one to say something to her than have it be the other way around. he takes a deep breath before walking towards her. reaching out, he taps her on the shoulder, saying, ❝ long time, no see, hasn’t it been ? ❞

        tonight had gone just as she had expected, another BORING & POINTLESS gala that she was forced to attend. she would very much rather be somewhere more worthy of her time. her thoughts were RUDELY interrupted when she heard a familiar voice speaking to her. a voice that easily could’ve broken her heart all over AGAIN. she had to force herself to turn on her heel & give him the attention he clearly seeked out. furrowing her brow, she couldn’t help but wonder why it was that he was choosing to speak to her NOW. they haven’t exactly talked since their break up ; years ago. she couldn’t help but laugh, it wasn’t really a laugh that someone would think of as a funny filled sound, it was a laugh that happened to be laced with hate & betrayal & maybe a hint of sadness as well.   ❝ seriously THAT is the first thing you say to your ex girlfriend? ❞ she teased, rolling her eyes in annoyance.  ❝ well hello to you too. i have somewhere to be so if you don’t MIND, i think i’ll give someone my time that i can actually stand to look at. ❞
