I remember reading this story that women’s position tended to shift from active participants before and during the war, to passive victims after the war ended. Women’s struggles, particularly those who became the leaders were actually constant and bitter during the war. Just a couple of examples, women risked their lives to deliver message, money, or even weapons. They did (of course) domestic works such as knitted and sewed the fighters’ clothes, or cooked as well for the armies. But ironically enough, after the war, doesn’t matter it was revolution or independence, women were seen as the top of the list of things that need to be restored to their original places (home), to protect values and culture, they said. My biggest question now as an adult, why did I never even think about having wings, tail, superpower, or at least invisible robe growing up as a kid? Like, why? Being adult is so boring.
