Dog Tooth Calcite
It's in more of a blade crystal shape than a true tooth shape.

Merry Christmas my fellow rockhounds! I got some new specimens for the holidays.
First up, some beautiful Vanadinite. Its luster is incredible.
And next is some Hemimorphite. Amazing banding and that beautiful blue color takes my breath away.
Blue Kyanite. Finally got my hands on this specimen, I've been wanting it for weeks now every since I saw it. I love how it has quartz growing off of the kyanite crystals.
Something I've had for a while, and never knew where I got it from, it was just in my collection. Very gemmy garnet in matrix. It looks black, but is just an incredibly dark red color.
Got another specimen today! This is Barite, Wulfinite, some Druzy quartz patches, and the matrix rock being Orpiment. This specific piece is from the Getchell Mine is central Nevada
Vanadinite Crystals in Matrix from Mibladen, Morocco!
Haven't posted in forever, however I got some new specimens to show y'all.
First up is Amazonite! I've wanted amazonite for forever. This baby also has quartz and what I believe to be mica or black tourmaline.
Next is tourmalated quartz. I just couldn't help but pick this little guy up.
Got this a while ago, some Celestite. Just look at that rich light blue color.
And lastly, a gift for my mom, Amethyst. This specific piece is from Brazil.
This radiant Sodalite mineral rock. Tenebrescence is the ability of minerals to change colour when exposed to light.

Sleipnir’s footprint
The canyon of Ásbyrgi is a horseshoe shaped depression of 3.5 km long and 1 km wide that formed during numerous jökulhlaups of the Jökulsá river. Jökulhlaups occur when a volcano under the massive Vatnajökull glacier heats up and melts the ice that lies on top of it. Tephrachronology, the dating of tephra (any volcanic material ranging fom ash to volcanic blocks) depositions of volcanic eruptions places the last of these flooding events around 2500 year ago, during an eruption of Hekla. The canyon is located in the north of Iceland, about 50km from the harbor town of Húsavík and close to the southeast corner of Vatnajökull glacier.

The Sacred Emerald Buddha
Carved in Thailand during the last decade from a huge 3,600 carat piece of rough emerald from Africa (most likely Zambia), the representation of Siddhartha Gautama is one of the largest carved gems in the world. He was depicted in a standard mudra (position) that is traditionally associated with an admonition to his family members (the sangha or priesthood) to stop quarrelling among themselves.
