Coraline nodded she sort of guessed that “Unforunately forests are hard to track down by the look of them, i mean not unless it’s something creepy like that forest in japan or the red wood forest.” Coraline said shrugging a little bit 

“Hey maybe you should come ghost hunting with me sometime, who knows maybe it’ll strike up some memories?” Coraline suggested to her striking the memory for her to upload her latest flash drive of information to her computer from her voice box to see if she could decipher some of the audio

“I love a red wood forest, the trees are so pretty and tall and they are like magical beacons.” Her brows furrowed and she thought for a moment, trying to think of where she saw the red woods. “i mean i think I’ve seen the red woods in real life, I’m not sure though. But i know they are pretty.” She grinned brightly, “I would love to ghost hunting that sounds like a lot of fun, creepy good fun.” I’ve also always wanted to go mermaid hunting and vampire hunting.”

Coraline laughed a bit, not in a mean way of course but mermaids and vampires did sound interesting “If you go vampire hunting just make sure you bring a bag of rice, if you need a quick escape you throw it on the ground they’re supposed to be super obsessive compulsive and will have to sit on the ground and count every grain of rice while you run away. Brings a whole new light to the Count on Sesame street don’t you think?” Coraline asked her with a chuckle Mermaids would be an interesting one, she wondered if they were beautiful like the stories said or ugly hags like the games always portrayed them.

Coraline couldn’t help but laugh a little bit as she leaned back in her seat “I always thought I had strange dreams but I think yours might take the cake Mabs.” Coraline admitted spinning in her chair carelessly as she wondered if perhaps something peculiar like that may have actually been possible, she didn’t dare tell Mabel those thoughts though enough people thought she was crazy as it was in a town that was even crazier, no need to stir up more trouble.

“Have you thought about going to a dream analyst? Maybe it’s some kind of weird premonition.”

mabel flipped her hair back and shrugged. she was always told she had a wild imagination. but she also believed in the impossible. the bright, the strange, it was all beautiful to her.  “i mean i guess the strangest thing is they always take place in the same little forest. the unicorn, the merman, the gnomes. I don’t know what it is. maybe one day i’ll figure out where this little town actually is and I’ll figure out what these dreams are.” twirling a lock of hair the brunette nodded. “no, i’ve never like the idea of someone reading my thoughts. or trying to.” she shuddered.

“Yeah, paranormal studies and demonology.” Coraline explained to him she hoped he didn’t ask why she had chosen to pick that, she didn’t want to lie to him and she also didn’t want to talk about ‘the other mother’ and her unreasonable (yet totally reasonable) fear of sewing and buttons. 

“What about you? What are you studying?”

“That’s so cool, seriously.  I’ve always been into that kind of stuff.  Kinda makes me wish I knew about the major when I declared mine.”  He chuckled softly.  He hadn’t thought to ask why she’d chosen it, he just assumed it was an interest of hers, just like him.  “Me?  Journalism.”

“Well have you thought about doing a minor or taking some of the classes for the heck of it?” Coraline asked him “If you’re already studying journalism you could always write and report paranormal stuff there are plenty of books and articles about Urban legends.”

Alright so maybe wandering around at night wasn’t a good idea even if you were ghost hunting, Coraline totally underestimated just how creepy it still was walking by herself at night even if she hadn’t found anything.

That was until she heard someone behind her and instantly reached for the mace on her purse turning around glaring at the other stranger “Why are you following me?”

It had been a long day for Daphne, and she was ready to just go home and relax on her couch with a bowl of ice cream and Netflix.  It had been dark for a few hours now and admittedly she was walking through a sketchy part of town, but when a stranger suddenly turned and started accusing her of following her, her eyes went wide.  “Following you?  I’m just walking to my apartment.”

Had she maybe been imagining it? She knew she had a habit of being a little paranoid sometimes and honestly? She really wouldn’t have been surprised at this point, maybe she had jumped the gun a bit?

“S-Sorry,” she said softly looking at her feet a little embarrassed she knew she was in teh wrong may as well fess up to it.  “I Thought you were....guess i’ve just read to many horror stories lately.”

“As long as you don’t scream until after we get a picture, you can scream as we run away alright?” Coraline asked laughing a little at the idea, she looked back at her text book 

“That would be the perfect thing to find for a paranormal studies major, I wonder if that’s something we may go over in class some day.” Coraline said thoughtfully 

“Don’t worry, I’ll try to contain it.”  He chuckled softly, looking down at his feet.  He knew he wanted to see something out of the ordinary, mostly just to prove to himself that these weird feelings he was having were true, but he had no idea how he’d react if he did see one.  “You’re a paranormal studies major?  That’s so cool, I didn’t even know that was a thing.”

“I don’t think I’d be really surprised,” Coraline said shrugging a little bit “I mean I haven’t heard anything about it but it could be fun to go do some research into it and see if there is like a swamp creature or something lurking in the woods that no one can explain.”

It could be good Vlog content, heck it could be good credit for some of her classes who knows? 

“If I find something though you’ve gotta come with me to look for it though.” Coraline added with a smile it was always more fun exploring creepy places when you had more people it also made the entire thing less intimidating

“See, I picture this place having a sasquatch.  Some kind of weird ape creature that squats in the woods and eats berries or something.”  Mason chuckled softly.  He had no idea why the thought of mythical creatures living in town was so exciting to him, but while most people would find the idea terrifying, he found it really interesting.  “Oh, totally, but fair warning, I might start screaming like a baby.”

“and so theeeeeeeennnnnn the gnome was like “mabel will you marry me and be my bride”. and i was like no, I won’t cause that’s kind of weird. but he turned into this huge gnome monster but i defeated him with my leafblower machine.” the girl laughed. “crazy dream! i mean i totally wish this stuff could happen to me but i’ll be happy with my dreams.”

Coraline remembers everything that happened to her the first few days she moved into “The Pink Palace Apartments” though she often wishes she didn’t due to some nightmares she is still plagued with.

Coraline has gone into paranormal studies because of what happened to her and she hopes that she might be able to help other people that have weird things happen to them and think that no one would believe them, Rivergate seems like the perfect place to start since it seems like only half the people around here seem to remember who they were and according to some people they either have super powers, were gods or even were dead which often brings Coraline the fear that her “Other Mother” may come back for her.

Coraline has an “irrational fear” of sewing needles and dolls, after what happened last time who can really blame her? She’ll often go into panic attacks around dolls and sometimes has to even leave the room if people are sewing.

Coraline has a black cat at home, she’s decided since a cat helped save her that it’s good to always have one around, besides most animals have a better sixth sense than people do so she may as well keep one around

In her spare time Coraline researches places around town that seem are rumored to be haunted and sometimes does a vlog on the locations dedicated to studying and proving the paranormal, she’s gotten a bit of a weird reputation on campus some people like her and others avoid her which she can’t really blame them. More to come when I can think of them
