how can i make it up to you? HOW CAN I MAKE IT UP TO YOU?
your eyes jolt up to your friends, who you have been sort of ignoring for the past twenty minutes. thankfully, they surprisingly didn't seem to mind.
at the sight of your head peering back up, stella turns to ask you, "wait yn when are you gonna head back to the dorms?"
i purse my lips before taking a sip of my soda. "um, probably soon, i mean we can all leave together, our dorms are all pretty close by anyway."
"yeah you're right. leave in... 10?" stella asks the table. she puts her elbow on the table and leans her head on it, "i'm lowkey getting tired."
"really? it's only 10 pm!" leesol exclaims, "the night is still young."
ella looks at her, "girl, as soon as i get to our dorm i am crashing for the night. i don't know how you stay up so late all the time."
"i mean with all the procrastinating and late night cramming i do, it's sort of a perk?" leesol replies, slightly shrugging.
"more like a curse! i see you falling asleep in almost every class we have together," moka adds.
"which is technically only 2!"
"okay.. okay.. but like... not too much on my sleep schedule. it's a work in progress," says leesol as she laughs, very awkwardly.
in the midst of the banter, you open your phone and finally reply to ryul's message, despite how off-guard it had you.
"shall we head back?" stella says, almost in perfect sync as your conversation with ryul ends.
"yeah sure," you agree, "wait, before that.."
as they get up, the girls all turn to look at you, a curious look on their faces.
"you won't believe who i just talked to."
all four of them immediately sit back down.
"wait what do you even mean, kim ryul? like from lngshot."
"yes bro. the idol from lngshot that i lowkey have a crush on."
"okay lowkey is an understatement... but carry on!" moka remarks.
you turn on your phone and open the chat room, handing it to stella, the other 3 girls peering over her shoulder as she scrolls through the messages.
"HE SAID WHATTTTT???" ella yells.
suddenly, the shop keeper pops out of the store, "hey girls, would you mind lowering the volume just a bit? it's 10 pm."
"oh my god, yeah of course, sorry about that," you say, giving the employee an apologetic smile, before glaring at ella and slapping her arm.
"brooo he wants you," leesol says, undeniable grinning from ear to ear as she turns to face you.
"okay he clearly just wanted to apologize."
stella looks at you, clearly not buying anything you had just said, "girl NOBODY talks to a stranger for 30 minutes just to apologize."
"the conversation just kept going, it wasn't like.. intentional! there was just a lot of explaning to do, you know?"
"yeah, yeah," moka replied, sarcastically nodding.
ella faces you and takes your hand, shaking it aggressively, "yn you're actually gonna be the gf of a KPOP idol."
leesol grasps your shoulder, causing you to turn towards her, "i mean, YOU even think he's fine.
"i mean..." you say, biting your finger with a knowing smile, causing all the girls to burst into squeals.
"okay yeah he is, but also SO awkward," you add, "he like tries so hard to be nonchalant."
"THAT LITERALLY MEANS HE LIKES YOU," stella claps in excitement, "HE WANTS TO IMPRESS YOUU."
"no way... i have no idea what he's tryna do but him having no social skills isn't a sign of anything."
"whatever you say yn," moka countered, smirking at you.
as you all finally get up and head to your dorms, you walk over to leesol.
"um sol, can you let me know how much the repair is going to be? when you ask you friend tomorrow."
"yeah, of course. i'll make sure to update you as soon as she replies. don't wanna keep your idol boy waiting," she laughs.
"oh my god. do NOT call him that!" you lightly shove her.
a couple minutes later, you finally arrive at your dorm. you can't help but think about ryul. not only did you just have a full on, one-on-one conversation with him, but you're also going to see him in person tomorrow.
to be honest, the thought of seeing him so up close makes you not even know if you want to be at barricade anymore.
