You are the most beautiful kitty in the whole wide world. I remember when I first met you I was so scared of you. You’d bite me every time I came to see your mommy. I knew you weren’t treated right by your previous owners but I was still scared so I decided to give you space. I think when I gave you space you started to build up trust with me. Days being bit turned to weeks, to months until you eventually stopped.
You started to follow me around the house and that’s when I knew you were my best friend. You’d always be right beside me where ever I went. You trusted me and with that I decided to trust you. I’d slowly start to pet you, starting with just the top of your head to being able to pet you under your chin with both my hands and rest my nose on yours. You’d grunt every time I did it. I loved your love grunts. (You’ll always be my little piggy.)
You are so strong Bubby. You got sick and mostly healed and things felt fine for a while. I was so happy to be able to get more time with you. I knew you were old but I didn’t get to spend most of your life with you so I was grateful for any amount of time I could get with you.
More time passed and you started getting worst again. I saw how hard it was you. So your Mommy and me took you to the vet. We got you on medication but it didn’t help. I secretly was hoping you’d get better like you did last time. I never wanted to think about saying goodbye to my best friend. But one day I just sat there and thought to myself “I’m ready, because I’ll never actually be ready to let you go. But if you’re ready and you need me to be ready I will be.”
Last night you weren’t doing good. I hated seeing you like that. You looked me right in the eyes and meowed at me and that’s when I knew it was time. You were ready.
Mommy and I brought you to the vet this morning. We still wanted a professionals opinion and they agreed that it was time. I held you and told you how much I loved you as you crossed the rainbow bridge.
Bubby, I want you to know how much I love you. Everyone’s saying how we saved you but really you saved me. You taught me to not judge a book by its cover. You were and still are my best friend. I will never forget you and you will always be in my heart. I hope where ever you are now it’s the most magical and amazing place. I hope it has plenty of turkey and tuna. I hope you get to meet other kitties that can guide you. I’m just so glad that you are pain free now.
Bubs, where ever you are, what ever adventures you take next, just know that I love you, miss you and cherish every moment I had with you. You are and will always be the best Bubberton💖
