Founder’s Grove, Humboldt Redwoods State Park

The tree with the burned out heart was still alive and growing. Fun fact about Redwoods.  They have a very complicated genome and are acutally hexaploids, meaning the have six sets of chromosomes. Also, they grow real big. The Dyerville Giant that fell in 1991 was 362 feet tall and had a diameter of 17 feet.

These trees can grow many places in the world, but nowhere else do they grow quite like Humboldt County.
