The changes to the battle of the gullet were so bad…took the soul out of the whole thing. Found myself not even upset about Jace’s death, because the show did nothing to make us feel a connection to him, and the double fake out was ridiculous. Making Rhaena somewhat the reason for him getting hit the second time was unforgivable lol. Not to mention, his death was pointless without Viserys and Aegon being the reason he’s there.
I am not going to get mad, as I clock into the “get mad factory” and watch house of the dragon.

whats obvious now is that the fandom largely views sansa as being helpless which has never been my interpretation. sansa is not actually less capable than her pov peers (ie: arya, jon, dany, bran). shes not. dany started with nothing. she was sold. she was abused and betrayed. shes currently stranded in the steppe, but she still does stuff lol
sansa does less not bc she is inherently less capable but bc she defines herself by being ladylike and that in turn encourages her to be passive and highly unmotivated to do anything that would compromise her precious femininity. but again not inherent. its a choice.
one that is made under pressure but a choice all the same.
and im not arguing that this is bad characterization at all. i think its a worthwhile perspective. whats misguided was the assumption that sansa be rewarded on account of her inaction. the point of her character was never to showcase her allegedly superior morality as was frequently suggested. she isnt better than the other characters bc she (mostly) opts to sit pretty and do nothing. that was always a ridiculous reading and subscribing to that notion is what led the fandom down a deadend while discussing her arc

dude it's just politics, it doesn't matter. all it does is shape every single aspect of the society you live in from the second you are born until forever
ned’s time in king’s landing is actually so funny because you have everyone like littlefinger, varys, cersei, etc. telling him how bad he is at scheming and keeping secrets and playing the game. meanwhile this man has had a secret targ baby hidden up north for 14 years and noneee of them have a clue. he doesn’t even have to try that hard either because no one gaf about bastards, so ned just shoves jon in the back of the hall when the royal family visits and lets him hang out right under their noses. then jon quietly gets tucked away on the wall with absolutely no suspicion from anybody because for once ned didn’t put his trust in anyone but himself. what’s even funnier is that ned gets to king’s landing and immediately starts drawing attention to every single scandal that relates to his own secret…investigating robert’s secret bastards, publicly condemning him for his plan to assassinate a targaryen child, accusing cersei of lying to everyone about her bastards…like why are you bringing up shady bastards when you have a shady bastard of your own to protect. except he actually gets away with it! because he’s taking advantage of westeros’s rigid class hierarchy and their complete disregard for/dismissal of bastards and outsmarts them all and then he just dies. the worst part is that ned can’t even appreciate how funny he is because he’s so repressed that he can only think about jon in any meaningful way via violent ptsd flashbacks. tragic but still an unintentionally better player than any of his killers.
