Do you think live action adaptations should be as accurate as possible to the source material?
Yes (The source is the original artists intention/it's good no changes needed)
No (It should be transformative/I want to see someone's artistic interpretation)
Maybe (Depends on the material/creatives involved)
I need to know what everyone else thinks.. this is a burning question I ask friends constantly -- ESPECIALLY in the wake of video game movie/tv releases as of late
This also goes for novels and comics being adapted to live action formats, including stage plays/musicals if you have thoughts on that
I know some people might want a 4th option here with something along the lines of: I'm sick of them/Don't think they're necessary, which is incredibly fair
But I'm asking from the perspective of what you're already familiar with and have seen for yourself over the years and (humor me) the ideas that the Horrific Hollywood Machine was capable of doing something well enough and wasn't over-saturating the market with reboots/remakes/sequels/prequels AND that it could even be possible for indie creators to pull it off
This comes to mind with the recent news of HBO adapting a Baldurs Gate 3 "continuation" series and Youtuber Markiplier's successful self-made indie horror film Iron Lung
I want to see what people generally think makes or breaks projects like this. What fans want and are willing to support if the opportunity was there and realistic

famous last words
hello my beloved mutuals. this is your quarterly reminder to play Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines (2004), a landmark cult classic PC video game available on steam and to install the unofficial patch, last updated in may 2025 as of this post
