Rainy afternoon

This week has started off rainy and it will probably continue to rain all week. I’m not sad about this because I love the rain, but I’d love to have a covered porch so I could sit outside and listen to the rain as it falls. 

One surprise for the day is that we had a chicken in our yard. I don’t know who’s checked it was but I hope she was able to make it home without any issues. 

My house hasn’t gone completely back to being a mess and I’ve been able to clean a little everyday. Unfortunately I do have some dishes in the sink right now  and a ton of laundry. My kids have not helped out a ton but we are still working on getting chores to be a part of our routine.

Bad Start

I woke up this morning in a bad mood. I’m upset about how fast my house gets dirty. I’m upset about how the weather is nasty enough that my kids need to stay inside. I’m upset about the fact my oldest doesn't want to do his school work. I’m upset that my husband doesn't understand how little time I really have to do stuff for myself.

But mostly I’m upset with myself for throwing a pity party. So I’m going to try and start this again.

Today I woke up and my youngest smiled at me. I asked my oldest to practice the piano earlier than normal and he played until his arms hurt. I make a cup of tea and was able to drink it by myself (thank you PBS Kids!). I am able to stay home with my children, without breaks and sick days, and I get to watch them learn and grow.

Today I woke up in a bad mood and remembered that I have a place I can write my problems down.

Something about me

I’m going to start this by letting you know Nyx (or Nyxie) is not my real name but the name of my lovely black cat. She is a wonderful addition to our family and is the only other girl in our home. I will probably post photos of here from time to time because she is adorable and everyone needs some cat love.

I am a stay at home mom with 3 wonderful boys. I’m in the middle of elementary school, preschool, and toddlerhood. My oldest is currently homeschooled and we plan on doing that through high school. We will adjust as necessary if any of them want to go to a more traditional school at any point.

I struggle with cleaning, staying on task, and being social. I have ways to overcome most of my struggles from years of practice and being uncomfortable. Cleaning is the hardest for me to overcome but I’m seriously trying.

Cleaning is my enemy

Today I am creating a blog to start my cleaning journey. I spend most of last week panicking and cleaning the bottom floor of my house. There is still some clutter but overall it feel nice and looks good. Upstairs looks bad, feels bad, and is bad. I need to change something and today that starts with this, and electronic journal of what I’m doing and how well I’m doing it.

My expectations are high right now. Kitchen looks pretty good, living room looks great, playroom looks cluttered but you can see the floor. My goal is to do at least 1 load of laundry a day, and keep the downstairs looking like it does now. My reality is that I’ll start slacking off by this weekend, and while my husband won’t mean to he will end up giving me an excuse so I don't feel bad that I let the house go back to a mess.
