Funniest part about Robin Jason canonically going to heaven is that it implies either 1) Jason didn’t kill Felipe and Bruce completely blew up their relationship for no reason or 2) you’re allowed in heaven after killing someone as long as that someone really deserved it, which would then imply that heaven itself is on Jason’s side in the Jason vs Bruce conflict.

I tried distracting a vampire by throwing rice at him, but I only had two grains with me so it didn't work. He counted them instantly. Then he asked me what I was even doing with exactly two grains of rice, and I explained how a bowl of rice tastes better if you spread it out over an entire day. I asked him if he was gonna suck my blood but he said no, he just had a lot more questions about the rice thing.

my favourite edition of the batfamily is prior to jason’s death where it is just jason, dick, bruce and alfred. there’s one panel I remember from pre-crisis where dick literally wanted to adopt jason and I need that for their modern dynamic. a dick who can’t even look at jaybin for taking his name at first, even if it’s bruce’s fault. eventually, circumstances arise and they get to know each other. after that, he’s jealous he didn’t get the chance to keep jason the way bruce has.
now jason is like the child that gets traded back and forth between divorced parents. he has a bag packed for weekends with dick, and even when dick is mad at bruce, his bitty baby brother is always welcome to hang out in blud. when he’s downright furious, he straight up kidnaps jason after school to do things that would give bruce an aneurysm. bruce will think they just had a fun time getting ice-cream or something, and the next day he sees headlines about adopted wayne sons starting a conga line in front of the iceberg lounge midday or something, who knows.
I also like jason being an affectionate young child because I imagine his childhood (prior to bruce and dick) was full of love before his parents succumbed to unfortunate circumstances (love the idea of catherine, willis and jason being a happy family before the drugs and the incarceration).
so once he’s comfortable, he starts yearning for that familial closeness again. maybe here he’s younger than canon, and he’s shy, but slowly he starts hugging everyone. he’s so tiny that it makes for such a comical picture when he’s wrapped around dick’s or bruce’s calves. they like to lift him to sit on their shoulders (he’s their BABY). dick will even toss him up in the air or dangle him by his legs. he claims to hate being treated like a child but he loves it.
he is also a kisser (he saves them for special occasions). once, there’s a situation where he’s on (slightly) higher ground during patrol, making fun of the fact that bruce has to look up to see him. he gives Batman a peck on the forehead, or technically his cowl, before taking off cackling. this is the first time it happens and bruce is bamboozled, but he can’t stop himself from smiling like an idiot.
then he helps rescue nightwing from some nefarious plot and now dick’s slumped against a wall, tired but unharmed. he kisses dick’s hair before saying something to make nightwing chase him (jason doesn’t like seeing him downtrodden). dick follows him into the night, his face bright and happy.
out of costume, he gives them cheek kisses when he knows he’s going to miss them. like when bruce is about to leave for a long business trip, or dick is returning to bludhaven/new york after an extended stay at the manor.
he even kisses alfred’s hand once as a joke while they banter with fancy old english.
I also have this image of bruce working late at night in his office. jason, who is used to all of his family sleeping in the same room, comes to find him. he’s sleepy, rubbing his big beautiful teal eyes, and just crawls into bruce’s lap. he tucks his head against bruce’s shoulder and immediately dozes off. when dick is at the manor, they have full-on sleepovers. baby jay, who would love cosleeping due to his past, thinks the manor is too big and I’ll die on this hill.
just their little family with jason as the glue before it all went to ashes would be so precious.

i also absolutely adore the batfam dynamic of jaybin, dick, and bruce because it's just so precious. i always think of a jason who got to grow up in this universe so he just constantly has an overprotective big brother and a dad who refuses to let him be independent. jason is their BABY. everybody back off immediately!
affectionate baby jay who misses his mommy and daddy and makes up for it by being so loving with dick and bruce ☹️♥️ he's the light they've needed. he helps dick and bruce get along again because uhm... jason just invited us both to watch him reenact his favourite play... i don't wanna see you bruce but i guess ill come over... for baby jay...
ajsjs the image of jay being dragged back and forth between bruce. that's their emotional support sunshine sweetheart jaybaby. if they ever see even the slightest wet shine in his eyes, they're going after everyone immediately.
THE KISSES :( oh baby jay has healing kisses. one little smooch on the forehead or cheek instantly cures all their ailments. bruce might not even be upset (he's just frowning like usual) but jason will come up to him and give him a hug and kiss on the cheek and say don't worry, b, everything's gonna be a-okay! :D and bruce will feel happy for the rest of the year

every now and then i'll read a fic where Jason post-resurrection is characterised as being basically zombified/having to relearn everything about being a functioning human, and a lot of the time that heavily includes him not speaking/needing to relearn to communicate, and it really makes me think about the logistics of him being re-taught how to speak by Talia and the league. like, this is a boy sustaining heavy head/brain trauma to the point of death, resurrecting but Not Perfectly, enduring whatever the full effects of the lazarus pit does to a persons head, and then re-learning from scratch how to communicate in a completely different part of the planet from people with completely different native languages/linguistical habits. i usually wonder about how being around a full-on Crime Alley kid like Jason from a young age could effect Damian, but honestly there should be more focus on how league culture might effect Jason.
we already know that foreign accent syndrome is a genuine thing that does exist, albeit rare, and there are cases where after suffering traumatic brain injuries multilingual patients have woken up and forgotten their main language, instead switching to a lesser-fluent but still spoken/studied language instead. so is it not viable to say that after everything Jason endured head-wise, that re-learning how to communicate from the league/the Al Ghuls could heavily impact his mannerisms/way of speaking? it's possible that after learning a bit of Arabic as Robin and then sustaining brain trauma and being re-taught how to speak by an Arabic organisation that Jason could forget English entirely and have to pick it up again later as a second language, which... English is quite renown for how annoying it is to learn as a second language due to how ridiculous and complicated it can be. i could totally see Damian ending up more fluent in English than Jason for a good while, just because he's been learning since he was way younger. i can easily see Jason fully knowing and remembering his life pre-Ethiopia, knowing English is supposed to be his mother tongue, and yet due to a mix of brain trauma and league training, somehow Arabic has become more natural for him to speak. he keeps forgetting words in English and has to whisper to Damian in Arabic for reminders in front of people, and whenever they listen to American radio stations he gets really fucking frustrated because he knows from the melody that they're listening to one of his old favourite songs and yet he can't fucking pin down what the lyrics are anymore. meanwhile Damian is next to him belting it out in full English because while he hates singing he loves pissing Jason off to no end.
at the very least i think it's plausible that Jason could develop a Middle Eastern/Arabic accent, which would 100% help with the whole 'keeping a secret identity from the bats' thing, but on the other hand it would definitely jar the fuck out of them when they realise that Red Hood is actually Jason. as somebody with a British accent, it would be like if i died and then randomly showed up a few years later speaking broken English with a full-on Filipino voice with no context whatsoever. like- there's no way it wouldn't catch Bruce and Dick so off guard at first. Jason would be so done with Dick, i know it.
Dick, squinting:
Jason: ok, so, i was thinking that if we went in through the left side-
Dick: you know it's just us, you can drop the accent. i promise i won't tell.
Jason:
Jason, teeth gritted: for the last time, i got hit in the head a bunch and it fucked up the language centre in my brain.
Dick, chastised: yeah- i know, sorry, sorry, i'm not- i'm not trying to be mean. carry on.
Jason, eyeing him: ....*slow sigh* anyway, as i was saying, i think we should-
Dick: but are you sure you're not doing a bit-?
Jason, throwing his gun at the ground: I'M NOT DOING A FUCKING BIT.

i used to get sad about shit like this and how in both canon and fandom, jason is treated as the outcast nobody likes, but now it simply fuels my jason whump. please continue to treat him exactly how canon treats him, it makes for the best angst. like how in canon, the characters mistreat jason because they fundamentally misunderstand him, fans do that as well which is hilarious
Do not ever be rude or condescending to someone who asks "obvious" questions, no matter how obvious or silly you think the question is.
For one, in some cultures asking an obvious question is just a polite way of acknowledging the situation. So for example, if you just put your jacket on and start clocking out, a co-worker asking "oh, you done for the day and heading out now?" doesn't deserve you sneering at them like an idiot, scoffing, and saying "uh duh, just like I do every day at this time" when it's likely they knew the answer, but were just asking as a polite way of acknowledging the situation.
But even if they were genuinely unsure that you're leaving even though it seems obvious to you from context clues, so what? What does being rude and condescending to them achieve? Maybe they couldn't sleep last night so they're really out of it today, maybe they're dissociating, maybe they're about to pass out from low blood sugar, maybe some other employees sometimes put on their jacket and only clock out briefly but come back.
There's all sorts of reasons they could be confused about whether or not you're leaving, but intentionally making them feel bad achieves nothing except, well, making them feel bad. Either way, they're not hurting you or anyone by asking a "stupid" question, so there's no point in being rude about it. If you still want to make them feel bad about themselves for looking "stupid" when they weren't hurting anyone, that is the mindset of bullies and abusers.
Thank you everyone who is pointing out in the notes that this is usually an attempt to connect with someone and/or strike up a conversation. Because honestly in my experience 9 times out of 10 when someone asks an "obvious" question that's what they're trying to do. If someone walks into the kitchen and asks "oh are you cooking?" while you're standing over the stove holding a spatula, they probably already know the answer, but they're just trying to start a conversation with you and connect to you.
All the more reason it's sad and hurtful when these attempts are met with sneering and being treated like an idiot.

So Bruce is a registered foster parent, yeah? Well, who’s to say he couldn’t be an emergency placement for a four/five year old Jason Todd while his mom’s in rehab and his dad’s in prison?
Dick is very unimpressed with this child running around asking nonstop questions. Bruce is getting baby fever. Alfred forgot how sticky small children could be.
im annoyed again so the rant of the day is:
Jason should not have scars!
and look i get it, people think the look is cool, and there is something to be said about treating someone like a monster BECAUSE of obvious scarring, arguably it falls in the category of prettiness is equal to goodness and therefore godliness (especially in the american context), BUT the whole point of jason's story is ERASURE.
his legacy, his story, his pain, his traumas, all of it is GONE. in the eyes of other people, jason is virtually an irrational blank slate who is supposed to be filled in by the people around him, he is what they SAY he is. everyone has been allowed to dictate how they view him, how his story was told, what happened to him in that warehouse -- ALL. OF. IT.
jason does not OWN a single part of his own trauma. it is someone else's, it's dick's, it's bruce's, it's joker's shining moment -- it's not jason's.
he doesn't have the scars, or twisted limbs, or the physical disability that would come with his torture. all he has is the memory of it, what he KNOWS happened and no proof other than his own words, and that's why he keeps YELLING about it. why he keeps DEMANDING to be heard because they cant SEE what happened to him.
he is aware he doesn't look so much like the kid that died, but that's HIM and he should get to decide how HE feels, what HIS death and torture meant, and NO ONE lets him and it's so easy to ignore because there's no physical proof on his body that he went through it.
jason's whole story is about grappling with the inescapable while everyone pretends nothing happened to HIM, like it just occurred to some version of him he has no access to.
but he CAN.
he IS that kid, and that kid deserves to be heard, to be stood up for no matter how many times he's silenced.
a jason with scars is harder to erase, is harder to pretend is separate from the tragedy that occurred, a jason with scars is NOT the jason we know.
and playing into him being covered in scars is actively playing into his erasure because he shouldn't nee to be covered in scars to be BELIEVED.
he shouldn't need to be covered in scars to be HEARD.
he shouldn't need to be covered in scars to be HONORED.
