Compulsions are mind numbing.
I'm not trying to be quirky.
How my brain works (tw?)
"Okay I touched the bottom of the soap bottle. Now I have to touch the top. Okay yes I touched the top but was it far enough to the right? If that was too far to the left then I have to touch it again just to make sure I touched it far enough to the Right. Right is good, left is bad. Damn, did I touch this two or three times? Better touched it four times incase. Wait, did I touch that three or four times? Three is risky, better touch it five times. No, too far to the left, touch the right said again. Damnit, six times. Okay, six seven eight nine ten. Damn but what if I touched it twelve times? Twelve thirteen fourteen fifteen sixteen seventeen eighteen nineteen twenty."
I hope whoever is reading this has a good day and remembers that they can do this. 💓☀️
The more specific my compulsions get, the longer it takes to do them and the worse I feel doing them.
I'm terrified of going crazy.
To the people who act like ocd is quirky and not a serious mental disorder,
You're assholes.
I almost had an anxiety attack in astronomy because none of the notes that I was writing looked "right" and I had to keep rewriting everything.
Wouldn't it be great if my brain actually functioned properly
Do you ever look back at "weird" things you did when you were younger and you're like
Yep, that was the ocd.
Taking notes in class sucks sometimes cause I have to rewrite certain letters over and over until they look right and it can be hard to keep up
One of the most frustrating things is when I have to do a compulsion, but the compulsion I have to do also makes me feel like I'm being contaminated with germs.
One of the most embarrassing things is doing a compulsion in public and someone asking "why did you do that?" Or "what was that for?"
An object: Isn't sitting the "right" way
My brain:
I don't know how to manage my ocd and it's becoming an issue
