jujutsu kaisen is about two men with such godawful personalities that they are literally the only people who can stand each other. and then they break up and decide to make it everyone elseâs problem
I love that rewatching Atla in 2020 got so many more people to realize âOh, Jet and Zuko totally kissed on that ferryâ and just went on their merry way, like one of the only good things 2020 gave us

when I think about it, i realized that Toph legitimately DOESNâT have any real skillset outside of playing high society stuff, sitting around all fancy like, and fighting, and she knows it
she knows how to convincingly seem to be high society and talk to people, because she IS a very important person from a powerful family, so she was immersed in that stuff since she was young and she wasnât really allowed to learn anything else. She was basically born into a gilded cage, and she knows it. And lounging around is, more or less, the only option available to her in that circumstance.
She learned how to fight on her own, and she had to sneak out and hide it in order to actually do that
so ultimately Toph can be seen as having a fairly limited skill set and a big part of her character is that she acts tough and seems that she doesnât care, it makes sense that this is ultimately something sheâd be really insecure about, and it seems like a reason for her to eventually become a guru of sorts and an Earth Sage just by philosophzing and working things out on her own
now, ultimately, Toph DOES do more things than just âtalk fancyâ and âhit thingsâ, but the thing about it is that itâs pretty likely that SHE doesnât see it that way, so it seems like an excellent character angle to strike especially when, from her POV, it seems like all her friends are polymaths while she just does two things, and one of them she hates because she learned it entirely against her will
itâs so surreal to me that supernatural went on for so long that the final arc of the show was literally the main characters screaming and begging and fighting for freedom and rest from a controlling and obsessive author/god who had been writing their lives up until that point, who simply would not let them die. it went on for so long that it went from being a show where the two leads used phones with antennae and made references to myspace, to being a show where they literally referenced the âsir, this is a wendyâsâ meme and dean said âgalaxy brainedâ. it went from being a dark and gritty show shot on film to being a show shot on digital where the saturation was so bright that it looked like a sitcom even at night. after 15 seasons, all the fear and grittiness and tension had been sucked out of the narrative. it devolved from a story about choosing free will over destiny into a story about whether or not having free will is even possible after youâve discovered that god has personally controlled your whole life. the transformation from âclassic kripke eraâ supernatural into ânetwork controlled never-endingâ supernatural was literally played out in the storyline of the show itself. itâs unbelievable.
