i saw this tweet on my timeline and it honestly pissed me off. i, well, don’t stand for the pledge every (or any) morning. this girl actually went on to say whoever didn’t was “disrespectful to our country” ?? really?? i don’t stand for the pledge:
• because on average you have a 1/18,000 chance in being murdered, while trans people have a 1/12 chance
• because a man had to say (yell) “i can’t breathe” over 10 times while being choked by a policeman before he was killed, and nobody listened.
• because people are still blaming that poor eric gardner (even when his death was filmed and put online), because blaming the dead one is always easier (this is for all black, police related deaths such as mike brown, trayvon martin, etc)
• because a 16 year old girl named jessie was murdered by police, only to be handcuffed afterwards and searched by police (no medical help was called either, and when her sister tried to film as evidence, she was threatened as well)
• because still almost half of america has a ban on same-sex marriage
• because Michigan passed a bill saying that any medic can refuse emergency treatment to an LBGT person if goes against their religious beliefs (UNCONSTITUTIONAL)
•because over 64,000 black women are missing in the united states and it isn’t even brought up to a sentence at the bottom of a tv screen
• because the political body making decisions about abortion is 85% male
• because when women are sexually abused they are STILL asked what they were wearing that day
• because women are still getting paid 77¢ for the man’s dollar (at maximum)
• because my mother still throws the word “faggot” around, and when i tell her to stop, she gets mad and goes “why are you DEFENDING them?”
• because the only way to actually succeed in america is if you’re a white, cis, straight male
• because men who are against feminism are buying #meninist T-shirts, as if they actually know what meninist means. look it up
• because people were SURPRISED at obama saying “gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender” during his SOTU speech…
…and if this is what “liberty and justice for all” means in america, then why do i even live here? let alone stand for the pledge?
(i would say so many other things, but we all know how long the list would be)
