‷ watch out, oakley yang, has crash-landed into roswell !! they look twenty-six years old and celebrate their birthday on 12th of June. they are from wellington, new zealand, reside in the greystone complex and are currently working as a tattoo apprentice at black box tattoo and piercings. one thing you should know about them is she has no tattoos because she’s afraid of needles, and hopes her apprenticeship will change that.‷
soggy:
he watches the stranger gracefully exit the shop with his mouth slightly agape. “ what ? no way, you have the subtlety of a brick. ” a falling brick, one that’s almost too close to hitting you in the head, the satire in his voice made that obvious. “ there’s people out there getting tats of eminem on their arms, i don’t know what’s worse. the latter is hideous but the former ? otherworldly. ” his lips push into a smile that read DID YOU GET IT ?
“Okay, okay, okay. You’re laying it on a little thick. I’ve never really been known for being subtle.” Their mother and father always liked to point out their social inadequacies when they were young. Never being good enough for family friends was one way to alienate a child. “You’re quick the jokester. Otherworldly. Yeah, I definitely prefer otherworldly to sickly sweet candy.” A small smile grew on their face, wondering if their joke delivered.
oakley:
“Might have been, but screw it, surely you have enough custom with locals, right?” questioned Seb with a shake of his head. He’d never once considered getting a tattoo while he was on the road, it was a big deal and you needed to thoroughly research your artist, so he wouldn’t have dared. So to him, people who got tattoo’s while on vacation were crazy anyway. “Last thing you want is for your job to get boring.”
“Not as many as I’d like. Most of the locals stick with McBossin. They are the more experienced one after all.” As an apprentice, Oakley was still learning a lot of the basics, but was not bad by any means. And that was the tattoo world for any artist - they needed to work their way up to the art they really wanted to do. “I guess it could be worse? It could hearts they say mum that are popular. UFOs are much better than that.”
ezra:
it was hard for ezra to hold back the cackle that left the back of her throat, hand flying to her mouth as she watched the other person walk away. “oh, no, i definitely think that was your fault.” the words escape in a giggle, hand dropping back down so she could focus her attention on oakley. “but i wouldn’t worry about it too much. they don’t know you, so there’s no need to stress about whether they’re mad at you or not.”
“I wouldn’t say I’m stressed about the situation. I mean, I wasn’t trying to be insulting.” Oakley tilted her head and gave a small chuckle. “Talk about cosmic timing though. At least we didn’t say goodbye and start walking in the same direction. I would be way more embarrassed if that happened, you know?”

Massoud pushed the cig between their lips and shrugged. “Nah, pretty sure they got a tattoo, I see them cradling their arm,” he shared. “Though they might not come back,” he added, giving them a side-way glance. “You did end up in this situation because you are working here, you know that right? This is ufo central.”
Oakley did a double-take, attempting to see if their arm was wrapped up for healing, but no such luck. Oh well, any business at the tattoo shop was good business. “Maybe, but is it too much to ask for some creativity? Like... A cow instead of an alien? A cool planet? Or... something cool?” The ufos had been cool at first after all.

“ yeah, it probably was. ” aoife said on an exhale, wisps of smoke from the disposable vape in her hand spiralling out of her mouth into the air. It wasn’t a habit she indulged in often, but she had been up half the night at work and her horoscope predicted a rough day ahead, so she figured she had the universe’s permission. “ but i think you might have dodged a bullet, babe, i could smell him from all the way over here. ” her nose wrinkled in distaste, “ eau de mom’s basement. ”
“A bullet and and easy $200. But I guess that’s karma for me?” Oakley offered with a small shrug. They wrapped a strand of hair around their fingers, trying not to fidget nervously at the thought of their rent being due. “Is that a french cologne?” They asked honestly, binging themselves back into the present.

“ well .. yes , “ ender responded , never one to sugarcoat a situation , especially to her colleague , “ that was absolutely your fault but , then again , you shouldn’t have to tattoo anything you’re not excited to tattoo . i’ve turned away countless prince albert piercings . i don’t care how much i’m being paid — “ hands were thrown , palm up , in a beg for forgiveness , “ — i’m not getting that close to a penis . “
Oakley paused in thought before conceding Ender was right with a small nod. “Maybe - but it’s quick, easy cash. Which I need. At least it’s usually on someone’s arm.” A shudder ran through Oakley. “I watched McBossin tattoo a a penis once. It was actually disgusting. And the dude passed out. So I do not blame you.”

“Look, I get that I’m still at the apprenticeship stage of this shin-dig, but if I have to tattoo one more UFO/Alien combination on a tourist, I might just scream.” A very tourist-looking person took the opportunity to walk away at that moment. “Come again soon!” Oakley forced out behind the stranger’s back. “Do you think that was my fault?” They asked in a stage-whisper.

“Pleaseeeeeeee”, Pandora begged, tugging at the sleeve of whoever had been unlucky enough to come with her that night. “I love karaoke. I promise, no one will be judging you! I’ll even let you pick the song, okay? I just can’t stand only being an observer!” She resisted the urge to pout, only giving her companion a wide eyed look, teetering on pleading, her face full of excitement. “And the next drink is on me.”
“There are not enough “Acidic Alien Blood Punches” on this god-forsaken planet to ever get me drunk enough to participate in karaoke. My artistic abilities do not surpass my phalanges.” Oakley waved their hands with a show of spirit fingers. “Pick a song and I will be a damn good cheerleader.”

with a heavy kick to her car, knox let out the loudest scream of frustration she could muster. of course her car had to break down. she shouldn’t have been so surprised, really. the car was as old as a grandmother—hell it looked like it belonged to a grandmother back in the 60s at most. all she wanted to do was drive it and the car load of flower pots back to her apartment, but apparently luck wasn’t on her side that day. she heard footsteps approach and grunted, “yeah, i know, i’ll be out of your way in a few minutes. but if you know how to hotwire a car, it’ll definitely go a little quicker.” the last part was a bit more sardonic.
oakley slowed their dusty bike as they approached the temper-tantrum happening in the middle of the town. the car honestly looked worse than their vintage schwinn, but there were less mechanics involved in something like a bicycle. oakley jumped off her bike and walked it towards the woman, only a little startled at the grunted comment. “I can’t say that hotwiring my car is in my realm of expertise, but I can offer a ride on my handlebars to the mechanic? If that would be helpful in this situation...?”
