The One Who Made Red (TOWMR) is an interactive text-based thriller/supernatural romance loosely based on the fairy tale of Little Red Riding Hood except a bit darker and with a few more twists! This story will be made in Twine.

The story will take place in the small village named Rose Bud that resembles medieval times. In this village, you will build relationships along with exploring this world made from twisted fairytales!

People in your village have gone missing. They’re gone for days or even weeks. But...they all return in one place.

The Oakcaster Thicket. The forbidden forest. Someplace that nobody in their right mind would be found in, but your people were found there.

In pieces.

You along with others felt helpless, you the most as you were felt merely a small clothing tailor. The feeling grew so strong that fear became common. It was something people around you had gotten used to, like rain from the sky, they merely moved through it.

However, some hoped that The One In Red would save them. They were fools. You knew they wouldn’t dare show their face to your people. Not after what they did or …what they are capable of doing.

You had started losing hope.

But then one day, two mysterious figures wander into your shop, questioning you about what you know about the monster in the woods that haunted your people.

Things in your world started getting pulled apart.

Good thing you are used to stringing things together to get the bigger picture.

The question is, however, do you want to see what this picture will make?

THE WOLF (M/F/NB)

..is one of the strangers that entered your shop...They go by Muriel/Malia/Maren…..You would have thought that given their demeanor, they would have a stoic face, but it is concealed by a wooden mask that has been carved to resemble the animal their title holds. They regard everything in your village with disdain and caution. But maybe, with you, their chilly brown eyes will be filled with warmth.

THE ONE IN RED (M/F)

...was the one who started this mess....few even know their name is Sherwin/Sayua...from the minute you met them, they always seemed deranged. They were either insane or simply grumpy; it was either/or. But that day, when they needed their cloak repaired, was months ago. But now that your hunt for The One In Red has begun, maybe you'll finally obtain the answers you've been looking for regarding the monster in the woods. Their dark skin and piercing eyes are well-known to you.

THE ONE WHO CRIED WOLF (M/F)

...also known as...Barnett/Bernadette Idoya...one of the few who survived the clutches of the monster in the woods, and your best friend. You've been friends your entire lives. They've made it their duty to make life easy for you and everyone else in the community. Their round faces complemented their lovely toothy smile. However, those warm eyes you've become accustomed to may conceal something darker.

M doesn’t react as expected. Instead of being surprised, they brighten visibly and coo at the MC, reaching out to hold the four baby outfits sewn together. In M's culture, having multiple children at once is common, which is why they are more surprised by their other partners' reactions.

S nearly faints, while B can't decide whether to keep supporting the assassin's weight or to freak out. Freaking out could mean either fainting as well or squeezing MC with affection. The baker settles for a bit of both. M is forced to release the baby outfits and lift both of their partners off the floor.

Everyone is happy at the end of the day. Perhaps a bit scared and intimidated, but they welcome the idea four babies with open arms. Dawn, on the other hand, doesn’t know if she likes the idea of being out numbered.

How would the RO’s and Dawn react if while on a stroll with MC and their pet mouse, a masked thug attempted to rob them when suddenly MC’s mouse shapeshifted into an enormous, ferocious monster which ate the thug whole, before turning back into a mouse and letting MC pick them up off the ground, as MC says,”that’s such a good boy, yes you are!!!”

This ask reminds me of Goose from captain marvel 🤣

S: S's jaw hung open, eyes wide, fist lifted in preparation to fight the thug your mouse had just swallowed. They knew they didn't like the rat. The assassin kept their fist raised, warily shifting towards you while looking at the mouse in your hands, which you were cooing to. "What the hell is that thing?" S asked abruptly, reaching out and carefully poking the mouse.

"He's my good boy."

"That is a demon. I know an exorcist —"

"S—!"

It took several minutes before S even considered walking alongside you. They settled for loitering nearby, taking sideways looks at the mouse and consciously avoiding walking in front of it. The assassin refused to enter your shop until the beast was far away.

M: M didn't flinch. Their eyes widened slightly, and they took a step back from where the thug had stood. Relaxing their hands, which had been ready to swing at the bandit, they gently raised their gaze to the mouse in your hand—or what appeared to be a mouse. M narrowed their eyes in curiosity and snorted at the mouse while stretching out a hand.

"Good… beast."

"I know! He is the best boy!"

B: There was a pregnant pause. Then B erupted into incoherent screaming, arms flailing, and leg kicking out as they fell backwards. They were prepared to talk the thug down, not for your mouse to transform into a big beast and devour said thug. The baker scrambled backwards as you looked around, fawning at the creature that had just eaten a person.

"What is that?!" B gasped, looking up at you in dread and shock. They almost passed out when you held out the mouse to them. They attempted to flee and head back to their own store, but you appeared adamant on bringing them back to reveal the true nature of your mouse. Whether the mouse was a "good boy" or not didn't matter to B because you could tell them everything in their own store.

“When both wolves.” Does that mean Dawn’s animal form will eventually be a wolf like M’s?

So about that picture of M and Dawn…are M’s hands tattooed black or do they just really need to wash them?

To be honest, knowing M, they probably should wash their hands. But, in all seriousness, their hands are naturally that shade of black. Think of it as a birthmark. When a shapeshifter such as M gains their mask and actively shifts, they gain subtle changes in their skin.

For example, Ms wolf is black, so their hands, legs, and ears resemble a shade of black and hold some fur. On the other hand, if a shifter is an owl, the persons eyes would become slightly larger, and feathers would grow onto their body!

hi hi! i absolutely adore the world you've created in the one who made red! the vibe is so interesting and just like pulls you in??? i recently reread it and honestly one of my favorite IFs EVER, the way you write and your prose is just beautiful. and pairing reading it with like a good gothic horror instrumental playlist and a cup of hot tea? the best type of self care day i could ever ask for!

I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Writing a horror/thriller fantasy interactive fiction story has always been a dream of mine. I’m thrilled that those aspects stood out to you. “I want to know everything you know.” The small girl demands, eyes wide and brows tightly pulled together. Both her hands clutch a recognizable red piece of cloth that your eyes can’t help be drawn to. Damn, you knew that bastard had something to do with this. You had to think of a lie—! Just then, you hear a low rumble, you’re entire body freezes as an instinct. Slowly, you look back up at the giant that stands behind her. Their narrowed eyes nearly glowing, but they held a warning to them as well. “Tell us.” They growled, the tone left no room for argument.

A family portrait. One made when both wolves entered your village and saw someone drawing them. Perhaps you’ll even get to see that interaction it will be…. Interesting.

How would M and Dawn react if when Dawn finally got her animal form…it turned out to be a chihuahua?

M stared at the mask their daughter held, confusion clear in their gaze. It was really... tiny. They narrowed their eyes and turned their heads to the side as Dawn leaned back on her heels to observe the wood. "It looks like a rat," M grunted before they could think. Their daughter snorted in agreement before putting on the mask and shifting.

It was definitely a rat. When M picked up their daughter and showed the MC, demanding to know what they were looking at, the MC informed them that she had transformed into a... chihuahua. Whatever that was. Apparently, they were ankle biters. That would work for M. Dawn yapped loudly as M joined her in their wolf form, trotting after her when she caused to much chaos.

M is the kind of person you'd think could kill you—and they certainly could—but in reality, they're a sweetheart/weirdo who always has worms hidden on them.

I don't think this has been asked before (at least not that I could find) but the RO's (+poly) reaction to the classic "Would you still love me if I was a worm?"

S: "I'd use you as bait if you became a worm."

"What—?!"

"What else would I do?! You'd be a worm!"

M: They stared at you blankly. You could almost see the gears turning in their head as they processed your words. Silently, M digs beneath their cloak and holds out dirt with a few wiggly worms in their palm.

"Keep. Pocket," they say while extending the hand towards you. At least the worms look fat and healthy.

B: They've been asked this question before by former partners, so their reply is automatic and accompanied by a light laugh. "Of course I would. You'd be my worm." B cheekily adds, "You'd have to watch out for your mouse even as a worm though. I'm not keeping that thing."

Quad poly: M remains silent as their two partners argue over your fate if you became a worm. They stand beside you as B defends the idea of loving you even if you were a worm, while S refuses to show that much affection for a worm.

"It's still the MC-!"

"—they would be a worm!"

"And??"

By the time they come to some sort of agreement, M is showing off the worms in their pockets to you.

What if in early relationship phase the poly were teaching M how to kiss? Since I don’t think M has a lot of experience in that department.

You’re right about that. M had no concept what 'kissing' between humans meant. The closest they had come was nuzzling people affectionately or licking their hands in their wolf form. Teaching them how to kiss in front of their other partners was... intriguing, to say the least. When M first attempted to lick S's face, everyone had various reactions. B couldn’t stop laughing, S shrieked in shock, while the MC tried to figure out why M suddenly looked offended.

Imagine if B baked S a cake in the poly and in frosting are the words, “Sorry I Fucked your sister!” In big red letters!!! I know B would NEVER do this but I wanted to share this idea anyway because I find it so hilarious.

S’s honest reaction to receiving the cake:

MC and Dawn are just standing to the side watching the rest of the poly and Erica wrestling around and chowing down on some popcorn while they watch.

"I bet Erica will win," Dawn mumbled through a mouthful of popcorn, her hand delving into the bowl the MC held between them as they watched the scuffle. The small girl snickered as M threw the baker over their shoulder with one hand while pressing the other against Erica's face, who was attempting to claw at them while S pulled at her hair with their gauntlets.

"I don't know... M seems to be handling it," the MC commented. However, as soon as they spoke, Erica lunged past the hand that held her still and jumped onto M's shoulder, where B was slung over. Startled by the turn of events, Dawn laughed loudly as they all tumbled to the ground, her baba looking irritated as if they were a wolf dealing with unruly pups. She watched as M struggled for a moment before deciding to just lay there, while B screeched when Erica grabbed a fistful of their hair. S's loud voice broke through the baker's shout as they all wrestled.

"Someone should do something about that..." Dawn said, picking a popcorn kernel out of her teeth.

"Yeah... want some more popcorn?"

"Oh, yes!"

The day S finds out Erica and B used to date, also happens to be the same day S chases Erica around the Guild wearing a hockey mask and wielding a chainsaw…what an amazing coincidence!!!!

It was an unforeseen coincidence that the very next day, after the pure chaos of S chasing Erica around the guild with a hideous mask, Erica found herself quite literally and figuratively throwing herself at B. The baker ended up face-first on the ground when the assassin tackled them. As B struggled to squirm away from Erica's unrelenting pinching, S joined the pile, knocking all the air out of them. Fortunately, M came just in time to keep B from becoming a squished mess on the ground.

I just found this IF and I'm so happy to see how active you are on it - this is such an interesting concept and all three characters have my heart (and brain. Brainrot). So excited to see where this goes.

I’m glad you're enjoying the concept and the ROs so far! Trust me, they might seem intimidating when you first meet them in the IF, but they all share a single brain cell—or, at best, each one has only one. If they’re lucky 🤣 I'm definitely trying to be more active on this blog, even when my writing hits some roadblocks.

Since B had a lot of partners when they were teenage heartthrob B, how would S react in the poly to the reveal that B once dated Erica?

"I did date Erica, but it was only for a week."

There's a long, awkward pause in the MC's bedroom. S's mind comes to a halt as they stare blankly at the baker, their lips parting and their left eye twitching slightly. They don't notice M gently sliding an arm around their waist, and the way the MC cringes visibly. "Erica," S echoed.

"It was barely a week. We both decided to terminate things," B swiftly adds. The assassin almost laughs—not angry, just somewhat irritated, but not as much as they could have been. S scratches the side of their jaw and snorts, shaking their head and gazing down. "You must've fallen from grace to be with her of all people."

"You're not... upset?" B questions gently, reaching out and grasping the assassins free hand in their own in a tender gesture. S kept their head angled away, their face darkening with color as they pursed their lips.

"Darlin', it was ages ago, and besides... now I get why Erica especially likes to irritate you."

"Oh, she's the bane of my existence—"

"—tell me about it!"

Hello! I was reading an article about a disease called Canine Parvovirus, which only affects canines, and I was wondering, if M and the wolf form share injuries, like a cut on one shows up on another and if M get’s pregnant then the wolf wouldn’t want to come out, then if M’s wolf became infected with Canine Parvovirus or any other disease which only affects canines, then transforms back to M, would M then be sick too?

The disease would definitely be shared between them! However, if they were to get entirely separated by M removing their mask and not wearing it, the wolf would carry the sickness while M would only have minor side effects.

The only way they could totally share an illness is if M wears the mask or completely surrenders control to the wolf. If they remain separate with the mask off, the sickness will only harm the one who has it. For example, if the wolf develops parvo as a pup and M removes the mask until the pup is fully healed, M will be unaffected.
