First of all - here some REALLY OLD pixel art I made before I made Lily or Oliver and before I really had a story written.....have a weird wolf monster and Isaac in a weird style from 2014. May still include the wolf monster.....we shall see...
ANYWAY - It’s been a WHILE, sadly life is always there to get in the way of fun things like making pixel horror games! :(
This game was an ambitious hobby that sadly has been set aside for a long time, due to personal health reasons, and simply just not have enough time!
I have a lot of people asking me whats going on with the game and honestly I don’t know, I want to keep chipping away at it and I might do just that....but I might not... There might be random updates and art here and there if I get the time, but again...there might not.
I am not completely disappearing or ending the game/blog/development etc...but I can’t promise anything except I will update/post when I have the time to, and still love my little project just as much as I did when I started!!

SO many people are asking me if this blog/game is still alive...and the answer is sort of...?
I started this blog/game when I was in college - and now I’m working a full time job and living on my own and paying bills - so you can understand I don’t have much time now.
I will still post bits and bobs when I’m inspired to, and YES I AM STILL SLOWLY CHIPPING AWAY AT GAME STUFF AND I AM OVERWHELMED BY THE LOVE I HAVE RECEIVED!!!
OBIT is still here - but will be pretty quiet most of the time to be honest. Thank you for all the love and follows people have given, and for sticking with OBIT!

hey a few things, a) this game looks really neato and all the chara designs are really thought out, super pretty, goodness. b) the theme you have on desktop doesnt support a lengthy description really well, because of that the page change is cut off, not sure if anyone brought that to your attention yet sorry if its been said, c.) i was wondering if youre coding the game yourself or useing smth like game maker? me and my pal do roms but we havent put together a game yet, not sure where to start

- Secondly, thank you for bringing the theme problems to my attention! When I edit it, it displayed okay on my screen, so thanks for telling me or I never would have known it wasn’t displaying correctly for others!! :-)
- Yes, the game is being created by me on my own! I’m only using RPG Maker VX Ace which I’ve learnt myself through online tutorials/videos etc… it takes a while, and it’s not the easiest but it doable! I’m still learning, and there’s a lot of trial and error too!
- I create my maps using Photoshop because you can use and grid and guidelines on Photoshop. I create most of my pixels and sprites on Paint Tool Sai however, it’s my favourite art/drawing software and you can use loads of textures an brushes etc… just like Photoshop! :-D
Also no I don’t have a personal blog at the moment, life has stolen much of my time so I haven’t even been able to upload to this blog! :-( Hopefully sometime in the near future!

I use mainly Paint Tool Sai to sketch and pixel most of the game graphics! It’s an amazing software to draw with, and you can also install lots of brushes and textures like you can in Photoshop! I find this to be the best software to make my character sprites/face tiles and graphics! I also sketch out maps roughly with this program.
I also use Photoshop to make small edits and adjustments and map layouts because it has a grid/guidelines! Photoshop is definitely the best for me for making maps!

hey! so i noticed that your sidebar says that there's no redistribution or anything allowed, but I'm not really sure if this would fall under redistribution or not. But would it be fine if i used the art of lily here /98089620793 as a side image? would that still fall under that even though i'm not doing it for money or anything? I would be sure to credit you and all of that of course.
No thats perfectly fine, thank you for asking! By redistribution I simply mean no saving/copying images and reposting them anywhere etc… without permission. Using it for your sidebar image is completely fine, thank you for offering to credit and for asking - much love! :-)

So, I’ve had a lot of people asking about story and characters, so I’ve decided to do one big post, rather than spamming my blog answering 100+ anons! I am going to try very hard to give you some more details without ruining too much of the story/game itself…here goes!
“TELL US ABOUT THE PLOT? WHY WON’T YOU TELL US ANYTHING?”
This is the question I get the most. I find it extremely difficult to get the giving away information part, and keeping things a secret balance correct! A lot of the game is about not knowing what the heck is going on, and discovering the world with the MC (Isaac). What I will say is I am in the process of making a post (with images!) that explains a few things for people, including more on the plot (which I have tried very hard to carefully word!) more on the characters, and more on the in-game maps/worlds, but there is a lot, so it deserves its own post.
“ANY FACTS ABOUT THE CHARACTERS YOU’RE WILLING TO SHARE?”
So here are a bunch of random facts about the 3 MCs:
Isaac: Isaac is 6ft1, 20 years old, and has very dark hair and brown eyes. He always wanted to paint for a living. He keeps to himself and will not “burden” others will his feelings or problems. Isaac is afraid of failure and letting others down.
Oliver: Oliver is 5ft11, 22 years old and has blonde hair and blue eyes. He has a younger sister (10 years younger) named Eileen. He was in a car accident, which caused him to receive severe burns to parts of his body, his sister died in the accident, Oliver feels responsible for her death. He is desperately afraid of being alone.
Lily: Lily’s hair constantly flows and shifts, a lot like smoke – it varies in shape, size and length. Though presented in a typically female form, with a female associated name (which they chose themselves), Lily has no defined gender – others simply assume they are female. Lily is very, very old. They can alter how they look physically.
“HOW’S DEVELOPMENT GOING? HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO COME UP WITH THE PLOT?”
The story has been developing in writing for around a year. The game is being created by myself alone and is going to be a BIG project that will take some time. The story/plot is complete, with the odd tweak here and there. I work on the art/sprites/pixels/tiles etc… map by map, scene by scene, as I find this easier to do. I also draw the maps out on Sai or Photoshop before actually making them, it gives you a clearer overview. OBIT is a very personal project, I feel very attached to the story and characters.
“HOW’S THE GAME GOING? CAN WE HAVE SOME DETAILS?”
I assume people mean progress of the game(?) - I would estimate it’s currently around 30% of the way there! Development is spotty and slow (so thanks for sticking with me!) - but I want the finished game to be exactly as I imagined, so it will not be released until I am 100% happy with it! (no set date)
GAME DETAILS:
Main Characters: 3 (Isaac, Oliver and Lily)
Game Length: 5-8 hours (hopefully, depending on in-game choices)
Genre & Themes: Horror, surreal, moral choices, physical and mental illness, death, generally SENSITIVE SUBJECTS (I was afraid of portraying sensitive subjects in the game, and nearly didn't at all because it is only a RPG horror game and I do not wish to offend or upset by doing so, but it’s crucial to the story I want to tell! I will be trying to tell my story as sensitively and gently as possible! There are warnings during the opening screens however...)
Age Rating: 16+ (for sensitive subjects and cursing)
Number of endings: 2
Other: The game is mainly in black and white, most artwork is pixel work.

Yes, I use a Wacom Bamboo Fun Medium tablet! This one:
The medium size is much better for flowy, continuing lines! It’s really fun and easy to use once you get the hang of it! The quality and grip on the pen is also very nice! I would recommend it to anyone looking for a high quality, lower price tablet!
