RocknRolla (3.5/5):

From the other Guy Ritchie films I've seen, I was hoping (and expecting) to like this one more than I did...and in no way is it a bad film, something just missing.

The film started of SUPER strong, and Ritchie's editing style is always an enjoyable watch...unfortunately it just didn't stay consistent pacing wise. Normally I do love the way Ritchie paces his films, although I'll be honest his editing style does make this easier to watch and follow.

Cast and soundtrack where great, no complaints there it was solid all round and great performances from everyone.

Overall, a enjoyable watch...RocknRolla may not be Guy Ritches strongest film, but in no way was it his worst either (although it's pretty hard to not enjoy a Guy Ritchie film)

The Virgin Suicides (4.5):

I'll be honest, this was my first Sofia Coppola film and honestly....nepotism well used👏👏

This film is visually stunning and really well made...I do feel as though it could've been longer since it kind of get rushed, but overall it was really visually pleasing and I do love that in a film

The micro expressions in the girls acting was flawless...especially Lux's last glance just before the car scene (Kirsten Dunst is a legend) and it really helped make the film

I don't really have much else to say, I feel like nearly my EXACT opinions on this film have been stated by every second person on the internet

Also side note Tumblr feels like a very topical place to write a review on this film

Memento (5/5):

I LOVE THIS MOVIE!! It's always been one of my favourites, since the very first time I watched it. Christopher Nolan's non-linear story lines have always been something that I enjoy in a film...and Memento will always be my favourite example of that (I may be bias since it's on my top 20 films, but that's beside the point). The way it crafts the story line around the viewer to make you just as confused as Leonard will always br a master class in film writing and I will die on that hill

The art direction is top tier, the mis en scene matches the film perfectly and not to mention Guy Pearce is PERFECT for this role, and he's just an amazing actor overall. This is also the perfect film to rewatch, I gain something new from it every time I see it, and that is sometimes a hard effect for a director to achieve.

Memento may not be as flashy, or as technically advanced as Nolan's newer films...but it is certainly authentically Christopher Nolan in all the greatest ways without all the high budget CGI and VFX and there will always been something wonderful in its self about that

Also, being an avid Fight Club and David Fincher fan myself, I do love that Teddys phone number is the same as Marlahs in Fight Club. That is a great little Easter Egg

Fantastic Mr Fox (5/5):

Now, I hadn't seen this film in A LONG TIME. By that I mean in at least 8 years...and if im being honest i definitely bawled my eyes out watching it again

It is absolutely GORGEOUS and oh my god so nostalgic I almost couldn't handle it

When I was a kid this was one of my favourite films, and I still have the DVD somewhere to this day, its always held a special place in my heart even though I haven't seen it much recently. Whilst it may not be my favourite Wes Anderson film, it's certainly high up in my ranking and it's definitely his best in terms of sentimental value for sure

When you take a well loved children's story written by one of the best authors of all time and let one of the best directors ever make a gorgeus stop motion picture of it, youre not going to get anything short of excellence I can tell you that

I'm so glad I took time to come back to this film, it would be worth it in every timeline. It just feels like a warm hug...it will forever be one of my comfort films and im stating that from this day foward

American Psycho (4/5):

Honestly was hoping to like this one a little more, but it was still pretty good.

I don't have much to say really, the visuals whete quite cool and the voice over to see what was going on in Patrick's head did really add to it

It sucks that this film got so twisted by pretty much everyone whose seen it, because it really is a great commentary on people with the same personality and thoughts that Patrick Bateman has...like who the fuck wants to idolise thay fucking creep

Sinners (5/5):

OH MY STARS was this incredible. Hell of a ride and I was sat for it all.

Ryan Coogler, you are a genuis. I'm honestly regretting that I hadn't watched this sooner. I went into this one kind of blind, all I really knew is that there where singing vampires and Michael B Jordan was in it, but I did have high expectations... I had heard great things and everything single praise about this film I had heard was right

Those musical sequences, DIVINE

The casting and the acting, STUPENDOUS

Oscar worthy film? 100000%

To the Academy, give Paul Thomas Anderson that best director award...it's long desverved but if you dare let One Battle After Another NEAR the best picture award let it be known im boycotting

Moonrise Kingdom (5/5)

This will forever be one of my favourite Wes Anderson films, and watching it again just makes me so happy. This might be his most visually stunning film, or maybe one of the most visually stunning films I've ever seen.

It has the classic Wes Anderson charisma with the perfect mix of child hood charm and innocence and it could have not been pulled off better. The colouring is gorgeus, the editing it perfect, the art direction is spot on, the costumes are great and I could make a whole list about how perfect the production was but I'd be here a while. I think wr can also all agree that every character was perfectly cast in this as well

Wes Anderson, please make more films like this

Good Will Hunting (5/5):

Re watched this one since I hadn't seen it in a while, and let me just tell you seeing it again makes me tear up a little. I remember it being absolutely gorgeus, but not to this level...it truly blows me away what re watch of a film can do

Matt Damon, Ben Affleck...thank you for writing this masterpiece and thank you to the casting directors for casting Robin Williams (rip 🙏), you've truly created one of the ultimate comfort films

When writing a film it's to make a character that lots of people can see themselves, but they nailed it cause damn i felt some of those scenes deeply

This is the absolute peak of sad white boy movies, argue with the wall

Life is Beautiful (3.5/5):

Ok, before anyone comes after me, this is art. It was a beautifully made, goregus film...unfortunately something just felt missing

The story and the charcters are amazingly crafted and I can appreciate that to its full extent, something just felt missing. I could just feel that parts of the film had been cut out, and honestly that sucks because this easily could've been a perfect film

The message was extremely powerful, and the characters stories and perspectives where told wonderfully, something just felt missing. I had been eager to give this one a watch for some time now and will probably give this one another go, I think my expectations where too high this time round

The Darjeeling Limited (4.5/5):

It was hard deciding between 4 stars and 4 and a half, but I went the extra half since visually, this might be one of Wes Andersons best films

I did really like how this film painted India in a positive light, unlike many other forms of media I think they did it quite beautifully. The characters where very well done, and Wes Andersons dry human definitely did strike again

Unfortunately I didn't find myself connecting with this as much as I would've liked, I don't know what it was but something just didn't click, not necessarily a bad thing though since the visuals definitely captivated me (as they always do in his films) Can't complain too much, I do love me a good Wes Anderson film

The Departed (5/5):

DEFINITELY worth 2 and a half hours, I was slightly skeptical at first (no idea why, this is exactly my kind of film) but was definitely optimistic within the first 15 minutes

I lost count of how many times "The Departed" was written into the script, that is a genuis title drop if I've ever heard one

I was IN LOVE with the cinematography, literally couldnt take my eyes of the screen, god it worked SO WELL. The editing just enhanced it to another level

Also shout out to the absolute STACKED cast, they killed it, can't believe Marky Mark was the only one that got an Oscar nomination

Mr Scorsese, Im sorry for doubting you...you've never failed to blow me away
