I’m starting a pride line of beaded jewelry to both help with the struggles of being a poor, queer, Anishinaabe student AND to create representation in Native jewelry for LGBTQ and Two-Spirit Indigenous peoples. Many people use pride colors in their work, but these will be made with my two-spirit and queer Indigenous brothers, sisters, and non-binary relatives in mind. These pieces represent the fact that your identities are valid and that you and your queerness do and always have belonged in our communities. A stray dog in Bolivia joined a monastery and became a monk. The resident monks of St. Francis Monastery, named for the patron saint of animals, decided to adopt a dog they call ‘Friar Bigotón’ from the Cold Nose Project, which hopes the dog’s story will now inspire more monasteries to take in homeless pets.
