A “where are they now” kind of reflection on this post that was made 12 years ago and has 70,000 notes for some reason:

- I really appreciate that truejaku not only mentions one-ler, my cannibal once-ler ask blog, but also includes context, allowing this post to be enjoyed by those outside of my circle. I believe their contribution is surely the defining factor in the success of this post, which truly gets funnier the less you know me.

- I like pennydreadfuljournal telling me to show him how well I boil an egg. This may seem to some like a “haha random xd tumblr humor” moment. But it’s actually something very relevant and personal to me, because 12 years ago I was really into boiling eggs.

hey. don’t cry. crush two cloves of garlic into a pot with a dollop of olive oil and stir until golden then add one can of crushed tomatoes a bit of balsamic vinegar half a tablespoon of brown sugar half a cup of grated parmesan cheese and stir for a few minutes adding a handful of fresh spinach until wilted and mix in pasta of your choice ok?

Over the last couple of years this has become my standard pasta recipe, and I can make it from memory. It’s always there when I want something quick and delicious and don’t want to order out. It’s the perfect base to add in some extras, too. Here are some I've used in various combinations, depending on what’s in the cupboard and fridge:

Knob of butter with the oil

Season with a little oregano, basil, crushed red pepper flakes, and black pepper

Generous splash of red wine that’s been lingering on the counter

Squeeze of tomato paste (tube kind)

Sliced mushrooms rescued from the back of the fridge

Half a block of cream cheese, cubed, stirred in ’til melted and blended in (at end)

But, you really don’t have to add any of these, because it’s just a great little recipe.

i am a SUCKER for characters who start out as copies of other characters but eventually become their own people, their own identities, completely different from who they once reflected

I work with kids and sometimes we have to do safety lessons with them about like, not telling strangers on the internet your home address or something. And sometimes the kids wont understand why, so you have to impart upon them that, well, some adults want to hurt children. And thats kind of difficult to do, because you have to beat around the bush, both because you dont want to scare them (while still making them understand how serious it is) and because you might lose your job if you explain it too straight forward.

Luckily, for some reason, the villain of one of the most popular franchises with children for the last 10 years happens to be a serial child murderer. So when a kid asks why they shouldnt trust strangers, instead of hand wringing and humhawing my answer out, I can just say "we dont always know when a strange adult has good intentions with children, or when they are William Afton."
