ok so my local nijiya (jp supermarket) has a sticker section and recently theyve gotten a BUNCH of obscure characters in there .. they had fruitpunch, strawberry king, goropikadon and the vaudevilles :3c go cop some bc Holy shit. Obscure merch in the states. Whoa.

Creators of obscure Sanrio characters

Look at this beauty. These are the introduction pages for Mimic Mike and Cherde; originally published in Strawberry News c. 1988-94. These were posted to a blog owned by the company Knot a toy, who buy and resell toys in Japan.

Seeing these makes me want to look into the creators of some of my fave obscurios. Most of the character designers aren't named on the official website, let alone pictured next to their creations.

Cherde's creator is named Yumi Watanabe and Mimic Mike's is Mitsunori Nakajima ... I think. I do not really trust Google translate.

I'm going to try find more creators from now on I think.
