She was suggested to have a hobby to have her mind distracted - self defense just makes her want to beat the crap out of the dummy - art classes were fun, even though her pieces often followed quite similar themes - even what should have been happy painting of people has something off-putting about those... One night in dorm when she does the same meal for the third time in row, she does consider trying cooking though, it can’t turn out bad. Maybe it will encourage her to try new things without suspicion.

Laurie had enough of therapists after listening to doctor Loomis and co being more interested about the killer and his behaviour towards her than the mess inside her head. Private doctor was also very expensive and didn’t seem to get things working with her, so she scrapped the idea. 

After what was time just sitting inside four walls, Laurie slowly welcomed life back, finished high school and decided to study again. She attended painting courses - kind of these paint & relax type, but paint your woes on the canvas. Which... resulted her paintings become sort of abstract and unsettling with figures without faces - or masked. 

She also attends to self defense courses, something to control her frustration with but also learn techniques to defend herself.

Exposed to cruelty, Laurie develops from scared shitless to ‘I am hard to impress’... step in a room with bodies or anything shocking and she is like: what’s going on here now...
