You sat in your room, completely stumped as your stared at the tweet you’d just seen. You had a few thoughts, but they were all ridiculous.
You’d thought, ‘Maybe I can bring a snack?’ No, that wouldn’t even last a day. ‘Maybe I can bring my sweater?’ No way. That’d start dating rumors.
Then, you had idea. In almost an instant, it came to you. “My perfume!” You shouted as you stood up from your bed, rushing over to your desk. You scrambled through the drawers, searching for the cute, pink glass flacon.
As you opened your last drawer, you found it. A small, pink heart shaped glass of perfume with a broken heart design on it. Ariana Grande’s Thank U, Next; Eau de Parfum. Notes of raspberry, coconut, and rose petals.
“It’s perfect…” you murmured as you ran your thumb over the label— completely ignoring the fact that this is the only perfume you have and it’s limited edition— but, it’s worth it for Megan Skiendiel, right?
Suddenly, bzzt. you got a notification from your phone.
Curiously, you took your phone off your bed and set down the perfume. When you looked through your notifications, you saw that Yoonchae had posted.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” You groaned as you began yo look around your bedroom. “Man, I don’t have anything!” You paused for a moment before a moment before you got an idea. “I’ll get her a mp3 player…” a smile formed on your lips as you looked down at your phone.
“Alright. Eyekons better be ready, ‘cause i’m gonna give Megan and Yoonchae the best gifts!” You declared, pointing your finger to the ceiling.
“Hey, shut up!” Your step-brother Martin shouted from the living room. Your face flushed red with embarrassment, setting down your phone and deciding to get ready for bed.
You slipped out of your jeans, lifted your shirt off of your chest, and unbuttoned your bra. Once left in only your underwear, you grabbed pink pajama shorts and a graphic tee, specifically a katseye one, from your drawers.
You made your way back over to your bed, you laid down and slipped under your covers as you stared up at the blank ceiling. you found yourself too excited to fall asleep as you thought about meeting Megan and Yoonchae. For real. In person.
It was surreal, almost. You just had to wait.
The day of the fansign came quickly. Sooner than you expected.
You had spent the entire day prepping your gift for Yoonchae. You bought a mp3 player, the kind you could carry in your pocket. You transferred a bunch of files onto the mp3 player. Newjeans, Jennie, Ariana Grande, Addison Rae, SZA, Deftones, almost every artist she’d mentioned liking or used on her insta posts. You even bought earbuds she could use for it.
So, there you were in line. Your gaze flickered to the table with a black cloak over it. The members hands. The smiles on their faces as they signed albums, t-shirts, photocards. You swallowed nervously.
Your heart pounded in your chest as you approached the first member, Sophia. You trembled vigorously, your face red as you handed her a brand new Beautiful Chaos album. She furrowed her eyebrows slightly, an endeared smile showing on her lips as she looked at you. “Don’t be nervous.” She says softly.
You can’t say anything. You just smile and nod. You take the album, passing it down to each member. Manon, Lara, and Daniela. Then, you reach Megan. Your face began to flush a deep red. Even people in the line behind you were giggling. You felt humiliated.
Your ears rang as you trembled. All you heard was the laughter from behind you as your vision blurred. Suddenly, a voice cut through the thick tension in the air. “Hey.” Megan. Her voice was soft. Grounding. She looked at you the same way one would look at a fine art piece— with intrigue and admiration.
Her eyes scanned your features. “You’re so pretty.” She mumbles. It’s not like a ‘you’re so pretty!’ it’s not giddy or kist her being nice. She sounds like a woman mesmerized. Your smile coyly “Thank you,” you say whilst fumbling with the strap of your purse as you reach into your purse with your free hand.
“I— uh— have something for you…” you breathe out, pulling out a small, pink flacon of perfume. The limited edition Ariana Grande Eau de Parfum. Megan’s eyes instantly widen. “Holy shit!” She yelps. Her face flushes red, and she covers her mouth.
“I-I’m so sorry, that… oh—god, i’m sorry.” The other members instantly look over, their eyes widening as they see the perfume you hand to Megan. “No way!” Lara shouts, sitting up a little straighter. The person in front of her furrows their eyebrows and Lara chuckles nervously. “Sorry.” She murmurs.
The other members figure they should focus on the people in front of them as well. Meanwhile, Megan has a big, joyful grin on her face as she takes off the top, spraying the perfume onto her wrist once. She moves her hand toward her nose, and she looks up at you with excitement as she smells it.
“Thank you so, so, so, so, so much!” She practically squeals. You nod. “I-I know you’re a big fan, so i figured why not… give it to you? Hah.” You murmur nervously. Yoonchae looks over at Megan as she smells the perfume, a slight frown playing on her lips.
You move over to yoonchae, letting her sign the album. “I… first, i wanna say, i really like your new hair. Blonde really suits you.” Yoonchae chuckles at your words. “Thank you.” Shes not nervous like Megan. She’s confident— but her interest is still showing. “What’s your name, then?” She asks, preparing to write a nice note on the album cover.
“Yn.” You murmur. Yoonchae looks up at you with a sort of impressed look. “Woah, such a pretty name.” She teases. You fidget nervously in front of her. “And your age? Wanna know if i should write unnie, or dongsaeng.” She smiles. “Nineteen.” You murmur. “Yn unnie.”
You chuckle nervously. In almost an instant, Megan shoots Yoonchae an almost judgmental look. You notice, but Yoonchae doesn’t. She’s too focused on you. “You were saying?” She looks up at you with an expectant smile. “O-Oh, yeah. I got you an mp3 player.”
Yoonchae’s eyes instantly widen. “Really?” She asks with an eager tone, watching as you pull a small, pocket sized mp3 player out of your purse with a few USB drives to connect more music, along with earbuds. “I put some instructions in the little pouch with USB’s.”
Yoonchae’s face lights up, and she lowers her head quickly, looking at the mp3 player with complete and utter joy. “Thank you so much!” She cheers. You nod. “Thank you for signing the album for me.” You smile, grabbing your bag and walking away.
After leaving the mall, you can’t help yourself. You instantly jump up in the air, squealing as you look down at the album in your hands. People outside the mall furrow their eyebrows and look at you with judgement. A woman even covers her child’s eyes and guides them away.
You eventually stop, embarrassed by how excited you are, but you instantly rush over to your car, eager to tell the whole world about your experience.
As Megan’s twitter notifications blew up with questions like “Anything you wanna talk about?” And “So when are you gonna bring it up” Megan was immediately left with confusion. Her first thought was call Yoonchae and ask if she knows anything about it.
She dialed Yoonchae’s number, raising her phone to her ear. As the phone rang, Megan grew a little more worried with every notification. When Yoonchae finally picked up, Megan began to talk.
“Hey, d’you know the deal with like… everything going on in my twitter comments?” Megan asks. Yoonchae pauses for a moment. “Huh? Wait— let me check.” She says. Megan hears a few taps against Yoonchaes screen on the other end before Yoonchae finally speaks.
“Oh, yeah. This is probably about you screaming because of that one cute girl at the fansign.” She chuckles. Megan furrows her eyebrows. “Cute?” She sounds almost… annoyed with Yoonchae. “Yeah? Cute?” Yoonchae repeats with confusion. “Do you… think she isnt?”
“No, no. She’s cute. I’m just confused as to why…. You’re saying she’s cute.” Yoonchae scoffs slightly. “What? What’s wrong with saying that?” Megan rolls her eyes. “You know. I had her first.” Her tone is possessive, as if she knows Yn personally.
“Do you even know her name, Megan?” Yoonchae asks with an accusatory snarl. “Yeah, i do. It’s Yn. I’m not saying you can’t talk to her, but watch what you say. You know i’m into her. I knew you could tell. I saw that look on your face.”
“Shut up, Megan. You’re being rude.” Yoonchae bites. “Me? Rude?” Megan scoffs. “Rich. Fucking rich, Yoonchae.” She murmurs.
“Listen,” Megan begins, her voice dropping to a low, dark warning. “Don’t fuck my chance up. I love you, but i don’t need your shit. I finally find one person who i’m into, and you try to take that from me? Be careful.”
And with that, Megan hangs up.
