this is Perfection
If Hope Is A Taste ( what’s yours?)
It’s another morning, another day where the sun shines through his curtains and turns his room a lazy blue. Funny how the world goes on as though nothing odd has happened in the past few days, that if not for the constant upkeep on the current situation through frantically sputtering mouths and small articles in the newspaper he would be clueless. Even worse, he would probably be a victim by now with his regular schedule revolving around the night and how it once was a time where he could clear his head. After this, Chaow wonders if he’ll ever look at it the same way. While the lack of sunlight helps his eyes focus and ultimately aides in keeping the migraines away, he would rather sacrifice that comfort to keep a temporary sense of safety. Anything to make him believe he has more of a fighting chance when it suddenly feels like the point of a knife is staring him straight in the face, held by hands more willing to thrust forward than drop their weapon. He thinks about what chaos would be discovered this morning, the thought swimming dully between flickers of his own plans. If he turns on the news would there be more headlines that sound too similar to the ones he read the day before, saturated with the blood of people he may or may not know? There’s a sinking feeling when he thinks about community now, the creatures he can see trying to go about their lives like everyone else, surviving like everyone else. Existing on the precipice of a human society with his hands outstretched into the supernatural one; he never thought about how hard it would be to see them collide like this. It’s too easy. The way his hands hover over the green call symbol, thinking about familiarity and a voice that sets his spine straight, thinking about what she would say when he exhales something pathetic, conjured from a place of fear. Timidly, the pad of his thumb swipes across it and he watches the as the screen jolts to another, displays the typical calling… text before it catches a signal and ringing prompts him to raise the phone to his ear. Even after willingly making the decision to call, he still flinches when she picks up. “Hey, Gyuri?” Belatedly, he notices how tired he sounds, like hasn’t slept in days despite just waking up. “Whats — what’s going on?” And it’s stupid, really, to ask a question that he already knows the answer to, but he does it anyway, perhaps subconsciously searching for a different response.
@obsgyuri
Gyuri isn’t sure how to orient herself without putting pressure on something that aches. Sleep showed her kindness by taking her mind off the parts of her that are hurting. From the moment she woke up, everything rushed back to her, though not all at once. It comes in pulses like the waves of vibrations coming from her phone. She doesn’t know who’s calling, but anybody who has access to this burn phone’s number has it for a specific reason. The feeling of obligations starts in her gut and raises up. The flow pulls her up from the ensnarement of her covers and pillows. She reaches for her phone and sees CHAOW appearing at the center of her screen.
“I’m guessing you’ve seen the news.” She doesn’t allocate any of her energy to cover the rough edges around her voice. For a very foolish second she thought he called about her sister. Her shoulders fall into a slump. It’s hard to gauge how much he already knows judging from his inquiry. He either knows very little or is simply trying to find out more information. Whether what he already knows overlaps with what she has to offer bothers her not. She went to sleep with fatigue as her company and woke up with fatigue’s presence still lingering around. Chaow’s potential disappointment in her can attach itself elsewhere. Three’s a crowd.
She sighs and decides to lay all her cards out for him. “Well, they’re called the Chaos Controller’s followers. Most of my contacts haven’t given me much anything outside of the fact that the remote controllers are a radical group.” She scoffs at herself acting bold when a beat down from an officer put her in her current state.
“We don’t know why they’re establishing themselves by implementing a temporary curfew. There is a full moon on the eleventh,” she’s thinking out loud. Although she hasn’t quite worked out the correlation between the two facts. “There is a witch among them. At least one.” This statement draws from her personal experience. She recalls that night and the way the witch mostly observed before getting away. It left her feeling unhinged as if someone is trying to collect information on her.
“Have you been staying inside?”
❖ Secondhand Scars
[ EVENT | @obsxten ]
Gyuri didn’t know what she needed exactly. ––Well, a doctor would be a good place to start. One look at her matted hair coated with dried milk from being poured over her eyes, her red swollen eyes, or her bruised shoulder, and anybody could tell she needed help. But she limped down the road and across the street anyway. All she wanted was a soda and maybe a band aid or two. It was all she could afford. Being in Sunseong on a very limited budget meant that she couldn’t see a doctor even though she needed medical attention. And being her stubborn self also meant that she wouldn’t see a doctor even if she could. After what she went through, something about a professional in a uniform rubbed her the wrong way.
Her non-dominant hand rested on the entrance door and pushed through. The cool breeze of the air condition rushed to greet her. Luck hadn’t been on her side all day, but she hoped it’d come belatedly. She initially boarded the bus to pay Ten a visit ( albeit, unwarranted ), but she didn’t want to see him now. She just wanted to gather the things she needed and leave. The walk home would be a long one since the blockade on the main road back was still clogged up. The road sides were littered with news reporters taking statements and relaying back the horror that incited earlier. If they catch sight of her, they’d no doubt deem her as a true horror to poke and prod at too.
She made the decision to go into the public restroom in the convenience store after making her purchases to clean herself up. Though her brother was used to seeing her come home as a wreck, she hated worrying him. She held the same distain with a certain cashier at this store too, despite the fact that she knew he hated her. But the options in front of her were limited. She needed to buy the items before she could get cleaned up, so she sucked up her pride as best she could.

❖ Enough
[ EVENT | Prompted Solo ]
“Sometimes the biggest crimes are the ones we commit in the name of a threat perceived to be real, while ignoring the pains of the ones who are actually hurt.”
obsxeunae:
When one is a curious being themselves, the expressed interests of others brings some sort of endearing allure quality to light to their person. Eunae doesn’t ink that being drawn to such things is something that only she feels; anyone would be pulled in, wouldn’t they? Gyuri’s almost child-like right now ─ a far cry from how they were when they first met, for sure.
“There is.” Her tone may be neutral, but her expression speaks hints of amusement. “A real one.”
Though the thought to say ‘like a normal library’ comes to mind, even she knows that that’d be colored in inaccuracies. “It’s public,” she confirms. “A database of history. And spells. And magic.” Obviously.
“They say that no one has ever read everything found there. There’s so much.”
Gyuri almost gulps at the platter of new information placed before her. It’s hard to digest it all at once but boy, she feels like a small kid in a toy store. An idea hits her like a current passing through her body, shocking her out of her daze. There’s a possibility Eunae is messing with her to get back at the sneak attack. She sits upright again and takes a few breathes to stabilize herself.
Eunae doesn’t seem like the type who will be petty, but reigning herself back is necessary nonetheless. “A database of history,” she echoes, barely unable to contain the wonder in her whisper. Imagine all that access to history at the tips of her fingers and not having to ask for personal recollections from one creature or hunter to the next.
“There must be something cloaking it, right? So normal humans can’t get to it?’ Her own statement brought a downward curl to her lips. If that’s the case, what if she isn’t able to gain access inside?
❖ Bring your hunter to work
[ EVENT | @obsluhan ]
Gyuri and her new “client” walked side by side but there was an unspoken chasm between them. Truthfully speaking, there were many things left unspoken. Most of which pertained to her first night at a strip club, particularly the one where Lu worked. Bars, been there. Clubs, done that. Those locations already got her used to intruding bass lines and breaths heavy with alcohol. She traveled to countless places and seen many things, and yet all in the span of one night shift, she saw so many things she never had before.
She would shove her hands into her pants’ pockets, she had to stay vigilant since her duty was to look after him. Unfortunately, she couldn’t even manage to look at him at this moment. Maybe she should’ve said something more than just the stammering ‘you... you dance good’ she gave him earlier. Either way the window of opportunity closed already, and bringing it up now would just mean she thought about his performance this entire time.
A harsh coughing sound broke the silence. She aimed to clear her throat but it felt like something was stuck in it. ( Possibly the compliments that she owed him but were too flustered to voice. )
“So... You always come home at this time? It’s pretty damn late to be out by yourself in general.” She didn’t have to check her watch to know that no good came out of being outside at this hour. It was around this time where she first met him too. ( Further proof that nothing good lurked around this time. )
“Do you work, like, weekdays and weekends too?” Performing that frequently would be so tiring, she thought to herself. Lu, himself, had such a thin and pale frame too. It must have been due to his diet and schedule. Although with the way he carried himself on and off stage, he certainly seemed healthy enough.

GREW UP ON THE WRONG SIDE OF REALITY
obsxeunae:
She’s not one to hold grudges. Live and let go, she thinks ─ it’s the best way to go about things. The same sentiment extends to Gyuri; regardless of their beginnings, the young witch holds no animosity towards the other. At least, not in a visible manner. Who knows what lingers behind that emotionless expression of hers.
When she nods, it’s delayed by the process of elimination that her thoughts are preoccupied by. There’s no stopping where they could go ─ she’s the one with full control over this itinerary.
Anyone is cute when they’re curious about magic like Gyuri is, though.
“There’s… the shops,” she starts, nodding slowly. “The magic ones. And… the magic library.”
The bus doesn’t abruptly stop but Gyuri grips onto the seat in front of her as if the world around her stopped spinning. Her eyes widened. “There’s a magic library around here? Like, a real one?” She waves her hand along with her head shakes to try to retract her last statement.
It wasn’t her intention to merely suggest that there were fake libraries out there. In the past she visited personal libraries within other witches’ homes that served as the hub of information for the coven. She never seen a public establishment though.
“I meant is it open to the public? How does it work?”
☼ 〰 | song of regret
{ hunger could make a person do some crazy things, sometimes. } on bad days, it made siu want to eat people. on good days, it made him want to eat his own bodyweight in sweets. neither of those scenarios were ideal, if he thought about it since one saved him money, but the other saved him from trouble { and trouble he really needed to avoid at the moment }. charmspeak wasn’t a power he liked to use, or used often, but in those moments where siu had run out of options & was left in a restaurant without any money and a grumbling stomach, keeping eye contact & allowing his voice to turn into that sweet, beckoning melody, while the clueless and dazed owner was continuing to shove food in front of him was the best he could do. it probably didn’t align with a lot of people’s moral compass & some might even call it theft, but siu will be the first to argue that if someone wishes to give him food, he couldn’t say no. the restaurant was almost empty, anyway, there weren’t a lot of people who were paying attention { or so siu thought, from what he could see from his peripheral vision }. the young woman who was sitting there and very much into themselves invested couple surely wouldn’t be interested in what a scrawny kid was doing.
@obsgyuri
this wasn’t a place that gyuri visited before. being paranoid to a point to where she constantly changed up her routine worked well with her habit of being adventurous. talking to new people, opening up to new experiences, visiting new places, she didn’t mind any of that. but there was something within this restaurant that did rub her the wrong way.
there were very little things within the venue that captured her attention. all of the casual interior decorations bypassed her interest completely after she regarded them when she first came in. her plate was nearly gone and the seats all around her were almost barren except for a few. So there was nothing to deter her attention away from the scrawny kid who got an endless trail of dishes. It was a strange image that didn’t add up. The host first came with the bill, then the owner had to come out. Now the owner was serving him.
Surely, that kid couldn’t be that impressive... Gyuri pierced through the last piece of beef on her plate with a fork. There was something she couldn’t place her finger on but the lifeless look on the owner beckoned her to not look away.
She scooted her chair back and stood up, making her way to the other table. Without hesitation, she nabbed the opportunity to get a closer look at the situation that perplexed her. “Hi, you’re the owner, right?” She played dumb. “I wanted to complement how good the food is. I’m a long time customer and I never got a chance to talk to you to thank you.”
27. What is their biggest regret?
❖ HEADCANONS MEME@obsxsiu
The smallest mistakes really trip Gyuri up, so it’s not rare for her to spiral into a cycle of self-destruction when she regrets she doesn’t handle a situation better. That’s really how you gauge how much she regrets something, by looking at how much stupid and dangerous situations she puts herself in to “make up” for her mistakes.
But getting to the point! There’s this one time she had a vampire straight in her scope, but the vampire looked so desperate and so human that she hesitated. In that moment of hesitation, the vampire grabbed her brother as a hostage. Everything ended okay though: brother’s fine, vampire’s dead. But to this day nobody knows it was her fault other than herself.
Suspicious? Who?
obsluhan :
Lu has always been a bit to gullible. The moment he hears this woman say that he’s dropped something his nervousness declines and he’s posture goes from alert to lazy once again. He blinks at her- still watching her closely as she reaches to get whatever it is that he’s dropped. He’s gullible, sure, but he’d like to think he’s not stupid. She doesn’t draw a weapon, though , and that’s enough for him. He smiles just a little- shoulders rolling forward ever so slightly as he adjusts the bag on his back. Turns out this girl is just another friendly person who wants to lend a hand. Seems like he might have dropped his apartment key.
“Thanks, dear.” He pulls a hand from his pocket gently as he approaches her. His hand barely brushes her’s as he takes the key back. He has no real concept of personal space, so it’s likely that he’s a bit too close. He puts the key in his pocket and slowly grips the strap on his bag. His head rolls to the other side- watching closely. He’s glad that it’s dark here. Perhaps his eyes will looks a bit less dead and uncomfortable in this lighting- again, assuming they aren’t glowing.
“No, no… Sorry I was so rude. This part of town can be a bit rough around the edges. A lot of druggies and gangsters out in these alleys.” He flashes his teeth with a smile- eyes narrowing as he laughs gently. There’s no harm here. He may be a dealer, but she has no reason to assume that. It’s not like most people can smell what drugs he has in his bag. If she could, he has more to worry about than being caught as a dealer. “But honestly, I appreciate the kindness, dear. You’ve saved me a lot of trouble later. ”
He hums softly now. He can’t help but keep his head titled- lazy. He’s less intimidating this way. He knows that his human form isn’t as intimidating anyway, but he still thinks of it a great deal. Maybe he’s too self-conscious about it. Maybe he’s always convinced there’s a reason he’s worth being afraid of… Or maybe he’s just always scared of himself.
“Ah… On that note, do watch yourself, honey. These parts are rough, as I said. I’ve heard word of killings on the streets.” He’s a bit more mumbley now- smile gone. His eyes focus on her yet again and, at the mention of killings, he hopes there’s no small glint. “I wouldn’t be out so late myself if it weren’t for my job. Club work is quite stressful… But enough of that- sorry, sorry.” A laugh. “Please do be careful on your way home.”
Gyuri eyes the spot where his hand came into contact with hers. She feels a tinge of discomfort but she knows the brief contact and proximity is a good sign. Both indicate some sign of comfort from the other person. Her focus lifts up to meet his eyes, and his gaze does meet hers head on. People’s eyes speak louder than their voices. His eyelids rise like tides to the shore when he smiles at her. The warmth from his look has her considering to let him go tonight. Establishing a pleasant interaction is enough to warrant another for a different day.
Maybe it’s the proximity or maybe it’s her momentary lapse of judgement, but she almost swears there’s a glimmer around those crescent eye smiles. Her hand clenches behind her back. Catching herself sound this unreasonable was grating her own nerves ( they’re almost as grating as the various pet names launched at her. )
“It’s nothing!” She waves her hands in front of her, deflecting his compliments that she doesn’t deserve in the first place. “I just heard the key drop and I saw you so I assumed. I wouldn’t call you rude.” Trusting, maybe. “I did follow you like a creep after all––”
She breaks character when something he says catches her off guard. “Oh?” Her eyes widen with surprise. “You work at the club?” And here she thought he just chose that venue as a place to deal. Without noticing, she quickly scans him from head to toe. Maybe he works as a staff hand like she does. Bartender or host, perhaps. Bars and clubs are places with a lot of traffic. People who work in those areas usually pick up more things about their surroundings than one does from the news and such.
Like the city killings for example.
There’s a mental bookmark on this topic as soon as the words formed from his voice. She almost chastised herself for not bringing that up before the club job thing, but in retrospect it made her look better ( more “normal” ) to talk about something casual first. Murder might be on her mind often, but for other people... not so much.
39. What recharges them when they’re feeling drained?
❖ HEADCANONS MEME @obsxeunae
She tries to surround herself around people she knows she can trust ( which is really a handful of people as of now ). She’ll ask someone to watch a movie with her or just hang and eat somewhere. Being in someone else’s presence comforts her, and making new memories that can replace her worries, however temporary the replacement may be, is something she strives for when she’s not feeling like herself. If that’s not a viable option, she’ll stay in her room and just drown herself out in her favorite ballads and sing along for the cathartic release.
11. Intellectual pursuits?
❖ HEADCANONS MEME @obsxeunae
One of her skills that really should be ranked is her ability to understand academic speech. She’s a big reader, although she’s limited to mostly reading English text with great fluency. She can still get by with Korean, and Tagalog and Thai on a lower level. She’s always checking out books and learning to supplement her lack in opportunity to learn in public schools after a certain point in her life.
TEDTALKS? That’s what she’s about, son.
Someone please go to an escape room game with her so she can tear up and room and yell when she starts getting stressed. She’s been to one and escaped with :10 seconds left on the clock and started obnoxiously cabbage patching (the dance).
Learning languages.
29. Reaction to sudden extrapersonal disaster (eg The house is on fire! What do they do?)
❖ HEADCANONS MEME @obsxeunae
The very first thought that comes to mind is, “Someone is trying to kill me.” Even if it’s hellfire from the skies, she’ll think it’s because someone set this shit up to get her. The mentality comes from the constant repetition of the belief that her family has made many enemies over the years. Which is well enforced but anyway! She’s not someone with the most developed sense of forethought when under extreme stress, so her plan would be to:
Run.
2. Do they have any daily rituals?
❖ HEADCANONS MEME @obsxeunae
Outwardly, she tries her BEST not to form any noticeable habits. She’s someone who tracks others and learns their patterns as part of her hunting process, so being on the other end of that is not something she strives for. But of course it’s much easier said than done.
To a stranger’s perspective, it’s still noticeable that she:
stops by the library frequently.
relies on public transportation.
works at a bar.
can often be seen with her little brother.
always orders spicy food if she’s ordering food. (this pertains to nothing. i just wanted to let you all know any way…..)
Behind closed doors it’s much easier to see her daily habits that she almost always stick to such as:
checking the doors and windows five times when she wakes up and before she goes to bed.
flossing before brushing, then again after brushing.
singing to herself whenever she’s showering or is on the toilet.
sending her parents “i love you” texts at the start of the day.
