idealiist issued a challenge!
Garchomp had a temper, she wasn’t going to deny that. She wasn’t very fond of strangers and would often try and scare them off...that was nothing new. What WAS new was the dragon in question walking up to some poor soul and trying to fit their head into her mouth. It wasn’t like she was trying to bite down or anything but...goodness, that just wasn’t very polite.
Suffice it to say, she rushed to pry the Pokemon’s mouth from the man’s head. “I’m so sorry! She’s never done something like this before- Garchomp, let go!”
platinumverity issued a challenge!
If it wasn’t for a loud, curious trill from Togekiss, Cynthia would still be lost in her book and unaware that someone was passing by her cozy little reading spot. She glanced up, smiling upon recognizing the person Togekiss was trying to point out to her. With a light snap her book closed, finding its way back into her bag before the Champion stood. “Lucas!” She called in greeting, approaching the boy with a smile and a wave.
“It’s been awhile- I wasn’t expecting anyone to pass along this route, let alone anyone I know.” This wasn’t exactly an often traveled road, after all. If it could even be called a road. It was more of a small path leading into Eterna forest, out of the way and quiet. The exact reason why it was an ideal place to stop and read for a bit.
excntrique issued a challenge!
“I suppose this is the place...” Cynthia looked up from the paper she held, staring at the large building that stood before her. Lumiose City was quite the confusing place- with so many twists and turns amongst the roads, it was a wonder she had only gotten lost for about an hour and not longer. Reaching up, she patted the neck of Garchomp as the dragon stood beside her. “Now, behave yourself, alright?” She smiled as her companion gave a low rumble in response, touching their heads together before straightening back up.
“Good girl. Come on then.” She folded up the paper, slipping it into her pocket and approaching the doors. She made sure Garchomp could get in first before following her, looking around curiously. “Hello?” She called as Garchomp inspected a large potted plant.

Lance wasn’t paying attention to anything but the Murkrow on his hands, but Aerodactyl was, and when he saw Garchomp going silent, the Rock-type couldn’t stop a big smirk from appearing in his face. Finally! He hadn’t really talked with that Garchomp, but the way she growled at Lance, he didn’t like it at all. Plus lady Tyranitar kind of hated her, or at least was very wary about her since apparently the Garchomp had attacked Lance in Canalave when he was sleeping peacefully in his Ultraball… So, while he didn’t say a word, he was more satisfied with the sudden silence at the sight of Lance’s extraordinary powers than Lance would even approve. Yes. Take that.
The Pokémon didn’t chase the woman away when she kneeled next to Lance, though. As long as she didn’t disturb, it was okay, and as long as Garchomp kept her growls quiet for once, he had no complaints. He just glanced around while Charmeleon jumped back to his side, and blowed wind to Lance’s face again.
The trainer, meanwhile, had managed to at least not be in the edge of a severe asthma attack. His chest still hurt, but air was slowly reaching his lungs a bit more fluently with every deep breath he took. He, however, was only focused on Murkrow.
He stayed like that for almost a couple of minutes, eyes closed and light surrounding the Pokémon’s whole body in search of any other wound. He found a couple of scrapes and one which was a bit deeper on his side, probably caused by the trap’s teeth as well. By the time the first minute had passed, the main wound had already closed, but he spent the second one making sure to heal any internal damage, until Murkrow was completely cured.
“There!” He exclamed in a wheeze, standing up and reaching his arms out. Murkrow doubted for a moment, still a bit shocked, but as soon as he started to flap his wings, carefully, he realized he could fly normally without feeling pain in the wing or anywhere else. “Everything’s fine now! Just… Be more careful the next time, alright…? If you see any of those horrible traps, come and tell me. And warn everyone you can, ‘till everyone knows…!”
Murkrow landed on his shoulder to nuzzle against his cheek in gratitude. Only then Lance turned his gaze towards Cynthia, and his smile became rather awkward. Well, that was what he wanted to avoid from the start, but reached that point, who cared? It had been an emergency.
“I guess… you want me to explain, right?”
The moment Murkrow tried and succeeded in fluttering his wings, Cynthia had to grip her knees and clench her jaw in order to avoid leaping right up and bombarding Lance with questions. When he finally looked at her and spoke, she could barely contain herself.“W-who with half a brain wouldn’t want an explanation to...to that!?” That was the sound of the floodgate opening. Almost at once the Champion stood, face alight with a grin. “That was incredible! I’ve seen Pokemon that are receiving some of the best medical care possible die from lesser injuries!”
She quickly stepped around him, leaning back down to look at Murkrow’s wing. “You can barely even tell that it was injured! There aren’t any obvious signs of lacerations or-or the bleeding or muscle damage and he can still fly! And you were able to so easily calm him to avoid strain or even more blood loss brought on by panic- I had my suspicions but I don’t think there’s even any questioning now that you can actually communicate verbally with Pokemon- and now this! This is just-!! Oh Arceus above...”
Brushing a hand through her hair, the zealous blonde sat, taking deep breaths to try and calm (or contain) her enthusiasm. Garchomp remained where she was, watching her trainer’s excited ramblings and snorting once she finally calmed and sat down. Her tail flicked in agitation as Cynthia took one more slow breath, staying quiet for a moment before looking back at Lance, a huge smile, excited smile still present. “Basically...yes, an explanation would be fantastic. Ah, if you wouldn’t mind, that is.”

He payed no attention to Garchomp’s growls, and while he noticed the hesitation that almost drove her to ignore him, he had already reached out both hands to hold the Murkrow when she approached and left the Pokémon to him. As he tried to grasp air in deep breaths that rather sounded like gasps, he blinked and focused all his attention in the Murkrow, wound almost ripping part of the wing with its feathers.
It wasn’t the first time he saw wounds like that, sadly.
As he held the bird letting it rest on his left arm, Lance placed his right hand on the bleeding wing. The Murkrow was obviously confused at first, trying to fly again, and only increasing the pain, so the Tamer gently pressed the Pokémon’s body against his chest in a soft hug.
“Don’t move…” He said as he kneeled down, breath heavy as his lungs still struggled for oxygen. He could use an air bubble from his Dragonairs right now. Nevertheless, he closed his eyes and tried to ignore the pain in his chest as his right hand started to shine with a smooth shade of gold. “Give me a minute… It won’t hurt at all. You’ll be able to fly soon…”
The Pokémon surrounding him got closer to peek at Murkrow, both curious and worried. They had seen how that man’s powers worked already, but never with a wound so serious. However, a sudden wind made them take a step back when Aerodactyl landed, flapping one of his wings to blow air against Lance’s face when he saw him sweating like that. Charmeleon jumped off Aerodactyl’s back and approached to the Tamer, glancing at the rest of Pokémon and the woman there.
“Dragonite and Gabite are looking for those things again. Gyarados, the twins and Tyranitar will watch over the forest’s limits.”
Lance nodded in understanding, light covering Murkrow’s wing completely in gentle waves as the wound started to slowly heal. It would take him a little while, but he had healed things worse than a pierced wing.
She waited and watched, gripping the fluffs of her sleeves as she expected him to pull potions free from his pocket or something of the like. What she wasn’t expecting was for him to kneel, calmly despite his labored breathing, and cup his hand over the wounded creature. Even less so for his hand to start glowing. Her eyes widened in shock as the soft light began to radiate from him, even Garchomp’s grumbles dimming and being replaced with curious silence.
Slowly, as if moving would chase away the shocking sight before her, Cynthia lowered her knees to the ground as well. Her eyes remained locked on Lance and the light that was slowly coating Murkrow’s wing. She didn’t wish to look away from a sight as strange and wondrous as this for a single second. Even the arrival of the two dragons didn’t draw her focus.
A thousand and some questions instantly began to bubble up as she watched the shredded wing gradually mend. He was healing it. Not with medicine, machines, bandages or anything of their ilk, but with that light. Never before had she seen or even heard about such a thing.
First there was the strange way he spoke to Pokemon- as if he could understand them and they him. And now this. She certainly hadn’t been expecting any of these surprises when she first met him. And she couldn’t help but marvel at what other fascinating secrets he held.

Wounds run deep☾ ~dragxnwrath~
He would have never thought he’d have that kind of problems in an oh so called haunted forest, at least not with the Old Chateau driving away the less brave visitors Eterna could have. It had been years since he saw hunting traps like those, he himself had made sure that any hunter didn’t approach Viridian again, unless, as Agatha said, it was their spirits the ones who returned.
Yet a couple of days ago, Gabite had noticed one of those horrible claws in the grass, and after looking everywhere, between him, Aerodactyl and Dragonite, they ended up finding five of them, luckily before any Pokémon fell on them. He knew how deathly those things could be. Who in their sanity would put them in a forest, it escaped him, but not before setting fire to his rage. He was really trying to believe there was a little hope, but in moments like those, he was completely sure that if he found the hunter, he would go mad.
Probably the reason for which he hadn’t looked for them.
He had made sure to let Dragonite burn those damn things, and warned all the Pokémon he found in Eterna about the hunter threatening the peace in their forest. And he hoped all of them would be aware of it before it was too late, since after all, and even with little fights or rivalities, those Pokémon knew to take care of each other.
But as he feared, one of them fell. As soon as the wild Pokémon saw the Murkrow, a bunch of them started looking for Lance, and soon he had some Bunearies, two Dustox and a Beautifly surrounding him and pleading for help.
Needless to say that as soon as he heared the first words, he blasted running between the trees, following the direction the Pokémon told him. It took him less than a minute. But he wasn’t there anymore, nothing but the broken trap and blood-stained grass.
“A woman freed him! She’s run towards the exit!”
He ran as fast as he could, feeling the lack of oxygen stinging in his lungs to the point he felt like choking. He hadn’t run like that for months, maybe more than a year already, and while the pure air of the forest helped, his asthma wouldn’t go away that easily.
“Stop!! Stop right there…!!” He shouted with the few air he had left when he saw her. He grabbed her arm, only then recognizing her as the same woman he’d met in Canalave, with the same Garchomp who already wanted to kill him once. Hell, it didn’t matter anymore. “Give… Give him to me… I’ll heal the Murkrow…” He wheezed as he tried to recover his breath.
Even with Garchomp’s growling, Cynthia took no notice that someone was running after them. It wasn’t until her arm was snagged that she did, and even then, she pulled against it for a moment before actually realizing it was a person. A person she recognized, she found, when she turned to see what was keeping her from helping the Pokemon in her arms.
Despite her curiosity towards the man she had met at the library, his demand was almost met with an abrupt refusal. The Murkrow needed serious medical help that only a center could provide. Not even the highest priced bandages or potions that trainers carried around could help right now. It was dancing right on the tip of her tongue before she took note of the wild Pokemon surrounding the ginger’s feet. They were all huddled very close to him, gazing up at the bird with obvious concern.
Some of them glanced anxiously between the Murkrow and Lance himself while others were displaying aggression towards Cynthia... it was that which made her swallow the refusal and move closer, very carefully handing the wounded Pokemon over to Lance. “I don’t think there’s much potions can do for him, though,” she said the moment he safely held Murkrow. “The trap he was in cut very deep...”
Glancing down, she noticed the Pokemon that had been growing agitated at her calming and instead switching their focus to Lance and the Murkrow. She blinked but said nothing more, brushing some of the blood on her hands against the sides of her coat.

Residents of Sinnoh wandering through Eterna Forest was certainly nothing new. From trainers to berry collectors to just couples and curious children exploring its depths, the vast woodland was not shy of human presence. Unfortunately, while most who traversed its paths respected the forest and the life within, there were those who did not. Pokemon hunting was an act not allowed within the safe confines of the forest, but it is hard to monitor every part of such a large area.
Coming across a hunted or trapped Pokemon before it was collected was also difficult, but that was exactly what Cynthia did as she stepped through the woods. With a book filled bag on her hip, the Champion had been planning on finding a quiet place to read for a bit. Those plans were quickly dashed, however, when a low whining caught her attention. Diverting from her path, the blonde peeked into the nearby shrubbery where the sound stemmed from, only to rear back in shock moments later.
A small Murkrow lay against garnet stained grass, fluttering one wing in weak panic. The other was snagged within a jagged metal trap, the device biting into the poor thing to the point of spilling blood. It was only worsened with the Pokemon’s struggling. Almost at once, Cynthia reached into her bag and pulled out a Pokeball. Following a light tap of its button, her strongest Pokemon and closest companion spring fourth in a burst of light.
“Garchomp,” she spoke to the dragon, causing her to turn with a yawn. “Garchomp, quickly and carefully now. Help me get this trap off!” She knelt down, using the fluff of her coat to try and quell the bleeding as Garchomp leaned closer to the ground, sniffing at the metal device. Giving a scoff, it didn’t take long for the dragon to secure her jaw around the clasp of the trap. One powerful snap later and Cynthia was able to part it’s spiked claws, freeing the Pokemon’s wing.
The Murkrow instantly began to try and fly, flapping for only a moment before it crumpled up, trembling and keening weakly. “Calm down...” grimacing, the Champion kept her coat pressed to the wound as she gently gathered the avian into her arms. “There’s no way you can fly with such a wing. We need to get you to a Pokemon center.” She was concerned, though...the wound had only been aggravated by the struggling. As she began to hurry out of the forest, the Murkrow cradled in her arms and Garchomp behind her, she feared there might not be much a center could do.
