Youtube:

-Will comment on every byler video stuff like "tf mike is straight, he's dating el" or "Byler is unrequited your delusional"

-half of them are preteens and children and

-the ones that are willing to fight with you, will go immediately to calling you delusional when you prove them wrong or they can't come up with any evidence.

Reddit:

-Will mass report and downvote any anti m*leven or byler posts until they are deleted.

-hates all of us for simply shipping byler.

-makes up things about the show to convince themselves of m*leven endgame, and all their other reddit bros believe them for example "Eleven was happy crying and smiling during the monologue" or "Mike was just surprised that Eleven loved him back so that's why he looked confused when she kissed him"

i want to provide some context for the following milkvan comments

these comments were replies to a byler comment underneath a post made by netflix UK containing milkvan (this post was made 1 week ago if you want to see it)

this is the comment that the milkvans are replying to:

unprovoking. maybe a bit problematic underneath a post containing milkvan but it's not calling milkvans names, which i would assume is enough to not warrant an aggressive response.

here are the replies to that comment:

so unnecessarily aggressive. no need to get so angry to the point where you are calling someone fucked up, stupid, dumb, toxic and miserable over a SHIP from a TV SHOW.

it's also upsetting because the person that made the original comment (kirrillynoble) was so mature. they didn't respond to any of the rude comments, but still had a healthy interaction between another milkvan that wasn't hostile at all.

this person that replied with a milkvan comment wasn't provoking either, it was just a fair and decently executed rebuttal to what kirrillynoble said.

why can't all interactions be like this

Mike is a character that needs a lot of grace. Will is a character that gives a lot of grace. That's why Byler works. Only Will understands that Mike makes honest mistakes and is still willing to give him the chance to make things right. Why else is Will so ready to listen to Mike when he's pleading with Will to take him back again in s4?

Will never holds Mike's imperfections against him.

i wish i could rewatch season 2 without the knowledge that byler is a ship with over 100k followers on tumblr and just pick up on the context clues and be like "woah this is pretty gay" and then research it more and be shocked but very excited to learn that theres actually a ship name for will and mike and there's a lot more that i missed that makes this ship even better

I really think Midleven is an example of "loving what someone did for you instead of loving them for who they are."

Like...the only other example of this I can think of right now is from iCarly so bear with me lol. But there was that episode where Freddie saved Carly's life and got injured in the process and then Carly suddenly started having feelings for Freddie after that and they started dating but then they realized Carly didn't actually romantically love Freddie for who he was, she just thought she did because she loved what he did for her. She loved that he risked his life for her.

So like with Mike and El, I think it is very similar to that.

Mike does love and care for El, but not romantically. And he thought he loved her like that but he really only loved what she did for him and his friends and he mistook that as genuine romantic love. And we kinda see that in s4 with all of his "you're a superhero. You saved the world!" talk. He really admires her for what she did to save him, his friends, and the world. He loves what she did for him and she sacrificed a lot for him and his friends so I feel like he also kinda felt indebted to her. So not only did he convince himself he genuinely loved her romantically, but he also felt like he owed her his love for what she did. Does that make sense?? And then El loved that Mike took her in and treated her with kindness and helped her when she really needed it. She also loves what he did for her instead of loving him for who he is.

I really think there is genuine love and care between them but it's just not romantic. It's not the way they thought it was. I think they were never in love, they just loved what the other did to help them and save them and they mistook that as being in love (I do still think they had little crushes on each other though lol).

I don't know if any of that made sense 😭

I dunno, I just find it funny how Joyce is the only one who has never been annoyed/upset at Mike at all. Hopper, Jonathan, El, and Will all have been at some point, but Joyce probz sees Mike as her ride or die since s2.

Especially when Mike held onto her when Bob died and she was devastated, or when they're piecing together the drawings to map out the tunnels, like Joyce has seen the best of Mike - he's an honorary Byers in her book.

Don't understand the people who say it wasn't Max that gave El strength...like this is literally a moment that exists.

This was when Mike was still blabbering and whatnot. She does not look motivated or empowered at all. She's not even trying to get out of the vines. She just looks resigned.

And then she turns to look at Max and sees Max getting MURDERED.

And then we get this shot of El. They hold on it for a good couple of seconds.

And then we have Mike yelling at El to fight.

And it's only when she sees Max getting hurt paired with being reminded she needs to fight that she finally attempts to get out of the vines. It's not until she looks at MAX that she finds the motivation and strength she needs to break free.

Like...it was NOT Mike's "love confession" that helped her. The only part of his monologue that would have helped her even a little bit is when he was telling her to fight. That's it. It was not him "confessing his love." Because what she needed to hear in that moment was that she is strong and that she needs to fight. She didn't need a love confession. She just needed to hear that she needed to fight for her best friend.

But anyway, the main factor in helping El break free was her love for MAX and her seeing her best friend being murdered. It wasn't some boy giving her a love confession...and that is why Elmax is superior tbh 😌
