Programmed Cellular Death / 12th House Retrospective
Apoptosis. It is the body's way of culling what isn't necessary. When a cell no longer serves a purpose, the body decides to kill it. Its not sad, malicious, or ill-mannered. It is clean, programmed, and intentional. Simply put, what isn't needed is removed. Your body uses this... programmed death... to carve and model your body when you're developing as a fetus. Your body carves itself out of cells the same way Michelangelo carved the statue of David.
Its almost as if that final form already existed, even prior to being created. You know, we spend our lives becoming who we are, revealing what we have always been. In this metaphor, subtraction equals growth. Think of us like trees, not every branch is meant to reach the sun. Sometimes the healthiest thing you can do for the tree is to cut its branches. A tree doesn't become magnificent by refusing to lose its branches.
I've had to shed many things to become the person I am today. Interests, lovers, friends and coworkers alike. But that's okay, because I'm carving out the masterpiece that I truly am. I can spend time being thankful for what no longer serves me, rather than being bitter and unresolved.
I might be moving back to oceanside soon and I'm so excited
