Why Are You Here? || Hakuryuu & Shuu
Hakuryuu couldn’t believe his eyes. Red eyes that were fixated on the dark haired boy standing right in front of him. The same boy who told him he couldn’t live the island, God Eden, because of his important attachment to the place he once called “home.” Hakuryuu once called God Eden “home” too, but this boy, this boy he calls a close friend, this boy is different.
For a moment Hakuryuu extends a trembling hand out to Shuu, ready to stroke his cheek, to see if this is real or just another dream. Thoughts of his old friend often filled his mind, their tearful separation that still felt like a complete blur to Hakuryuu. It was months ago but this was all too sudden for him. His mouth opened and closed, struggling to find the right words to pour out of his mouth.
His face still is visibly tense, and he looks nearly distraught with a tinge of surprised shimming in his red eyes. Hakuryuu tries to smile, but it comes out a little weak and way too forced. “Shuu… I didn’t know you were here! When…” He almost said “How” but quickly stopped himself before spilling out another word.
"When did you get here?"
The extended hand of the other surprised Shuu a little at first-- But he did understood the action. It was a little strange that he showed up here all of a sudden. He had always been saying that he couldn't leave... That he had to protect God Eden. He couldn't remember the last time he had left God Eden. Had he even done that before?
"Well-- I arrived here not so very long ago... Ehm, A few days ago, I believe?" Shuu felt guilty. He felt guilty for showing up like this. He felt guilty because of all of the things he had said about not leaving God Eden. Maybe he should've written a letter towards his friend about the fact that he was going to this academy. This moment would've felt different if he had done that. But one can't change things that happened in the past.
He quietly promised himself that he was going to send a letter next time-- if it would ever happen again. "I-- I'm sorry."
