Hello everyone, my name is Mia! ˖°𓇼 This blog is an archive of some poems I have written here and there that draw parallels between my life and nature, specifically the ocean. hence the name oceanslovemail! I've found that I can go through having about 30 emotions in 30 seconds and 2 years worth of thoughts in 2 minutes. But although I am quick to come to conclusions or to develop opinions, I take a while to change and grow, much like how the ocean can be fast-moving and destructive, but takes many, many years to change shorelines. I'm from South Florida and I've never lived further than 30 minutes from the beach, which has led to some of my most formative moments taking place near or in the ocean. Oceanslovemail is a mosaic of my most vulnerable feelings, whether they be fear, love, or melancholy. Welcome to my grotto!

P.S. The theming for this blog did partially come to mind while i was re-watching the music video this GIF is from, Sade's "No Ordinary Love"!

Although this poem isn't blatantly ocean themed, it does involve the moon, which is always pushing and pulling tides the same way that my emotions are constantly changing. This is one of my oldest poems, as I wrote it while I was going into my Junior year of high school. I was feeling intense impending doom as I laid in bed unable to sleep after counting how many days I had left of summer vacation before school started. In high school, I was constantly spreading myself too thin to feel accomplished. Re-reading this around the same time three years later makes me really sad, and I wish I let myself rest more often back then. But on the other hand, that time in my life taught me so many important lessons and I am proud of who I am because of it.

This is my first photography post ! ⋆.˚° I took this on a beach in Tangier, Morocco during my time studying abroad! My study abroad program was a dream come true and it opened my eyes to so many different kinds of people from different cultures. I was based in Seville, Spain, but some of my classmates and I took a weekend trip around Morocco and it was definitely interesting to say the least! Disregarding how odd the trip was, I am so beyond glad I experienced it and I think everyone should travel as much as they can as often as they can, even if it's just driving to a different town for a day trip. ©2026, Mia Villegas

Hello again! °‧ 𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 ·｡ This poem is more is freshwater-focused! I thought it was fitting to revisit as I just came back from a trip to Alaska and it made me remember how important it is to feel small sometimes. The freezing rivers, jumping salmon, and gorgeous bears were so different from the swamps, mangroves, and beaches I'm used to! Anyways, I wrote this one some time ago while falling for someone I definitely wasn't ready for mentally. I was thinking about the summers and spring breaks I used to spend in Northern Georgia and how I would watch my brothers skip rocks over the river in our backyard. The way the rocks would fly over the water and fall so suddenly has always perplexed me, and I felt like it was an amazing allegory for sudden romance!

This is one of my older poems! I wrote this one after finding out pearls are actually a defense mechanism that clams use to expel irritants that manage to enter into their tissue. I found it really beautiful that things that cause the clams danger or pain can be turned into something more beautiful. I found this out after getting out of a weird relationship that I tried really hard to keep, even though it was causing me extreme anxiety and continuously confusing me. Towards the end of the relationship, I found out this person was seeing somebody else. Initially I was heartbroken and so disgusted with myself, but I soon realized that I would prefer to end things this way rather than be disappointed deeper into the relationship.
