Usually such a blatant act of disrespect would anger Wallace. But this coming from Lance of all people is what intrigues him.

It’s why he’s calmly reading over Lance’s shoulder. None of the texts make sense to him. If anything, he’d say that Lance’s partner was quite obnoxious with all the smilies and blocks of texts. It’s funny to see Lance’s one word responses that’ll never go beyond a sentence.

Good. Whoever it is, isn’t that close to Lance yet. That grin on Lance’s face says that they’ll soon knock Wallace and Steven from their place. And that? That is something Wallace cannot allow. Not in good conscience.

“It’s fine -- you seem quite distracted, Lance. You’re not...dating someone, are you? ...oh, I think I’ve just heard a few hearts shatter.”

he just stands there. he was about to wave. but like ... it looked like wallace was busy. so he left for 20 minutes. and came back. and he's hovering. outside wallace's gym. in sunglasses. he put them on. okay, he's about to leave again. oh, no. wallace saw him. he looks like he wants to die. he clears his throat. " hi. "

It’s his pokemon who notice first. Milotic doesn’t seem any different from usual but her tail twitches -- betraying her excitement and curiosity. Wallace’s Luvdisc, who has always been terrible at keeping secrets, hops frantically side to side. Whoever waits outside Wallace’s gym is not a foe and must be well-known. It can’t be Steven as Steven would already be inside without a word.

Lance!

Wallace is a good friend who allows Lance to stew in his uncertainty before finally confronting him. Maybe delaying the inevitable is cruel, especially for someone as anxious as Lance but...Wallace just can’t help it. Something about teasing him is much too fun.

“Lance -- I wasn’t expecting you, hello. Oh, don’t be a stranger. Aren’t you going to come in?”

Yes! Yes, they do. It’s in the beginning stages, of course...but I’m sure it’ll develop accordingly! I’m expecting quite the whirlwind of a romance. A professor and a spy? It’s all...daring, isn’t it?

If Steven asked, Wallace wouldn’t hesitate to drop everything he had on his plate for him. A hand reaches up to play with the blue locks. Amusement plays clearly in Wallace’s eyes and he’s helpless but to laugh. “Oh, you’re quite the charmer. If I was a weaker person...” He’d be seduced! As of right now, he’s more flattered, than anything. It’s a warm feeling that washes throughout his entire body. Comforting. “I thought you’d never ask! Yes, yes. It’s Versace. What tipped you?”

The fact that neither of them had partners. There was a lot of material there. If Wallace was a lesser man, he might have rolled his eyes. Instead a simple smile plays at his lips at he reaches over and grasps Steven’s hands, staring at the nails. They’re not in terrible shape but... “I suppose so -- you’d only end up chipping the paint, wouldn’t you? On one of your little excursions. You are being silly when say it wouldn’t suit you. I think it’d look awfully lovely.”
