There’s so much surrounding flowery and the flowers motivations that I want to talk about but it’s a jumbled mess in my brain. Like flowery doesn’t actually believe in everything he says to the fun gang and esp ralsei, it’s clear to me that he understands and accepts why they’re fighting to close their fountain but is simply questioning their motivations in doing so. And all the flowers are all apparently are very aware that if they do manage to keep it open they’re going to Actually die at some point due to being left in darkness irl but it’s worth it to be able to live their dreams as long as they can and be able to finally be of use (in their opinion) to asgore.

With ralsei, flowery admits near the end that he was teasing him all this time to try and get it through his head that he should strive for his own happiness for once(COUGH TRANS RALSEI COUGH). And flowery is obviously aware of Some of whats going on, he knows Kris opened this fountain in the first place, he knows of ralsei’s actual role and powers and he knows Something about Kris is different and that they have some other motives that may be dangerous. The way he mocks their friendship to me is him pointing out that both Kris and ralsei are not being honest with the others at all and that in reality, their friendship is kind of rocky all things considered. (Also I love that hes constantly telling Susie about things she ‘shouldn’t know’ and the fact he told her and only her Off Screen about the code in the soil??)

I see a lot of ppl saying that flowery was right about everything or that he did nothing wrong, but I think it’s more complicated than that. In the end flowery is still caught up in doing things behind asgores back and denying the fact that ‘showing asgore this perfect world’ wouldn’t actually help or solve anything at all. He’s just desperate to do something, anything before he and the others turn back or even die as ‘useless’ flowers.

But this mf can’t even get himself to truly fight for his cause because he hesitates in the last clash with Kris, not being able to bring himself to actually win the fight and hurt them. He’s known this entire time what the outcome was going to be, like ralsei has been saying. After all, hes said that he believes Kris and the others are going to save the world, regardless of his knowledge of other things going on. Idk man it’s all just so UUUUUUGHHHHHHHH AAAAAAAAARRRGHHHHHHHHHHHH ITS SO SAD MAN yes hes funny as hell and comes across as genuine in the end about everything but also he spends all this time going ‘The Power of Flowers is Unbeatable!’ while thinking flowers are actually useless and ultimately he knows he agrees with ralsei about how this is going to end

Want to add on a few things, having also watched ppl play through the game. It's as if flowery cant bring himself to be able to do anything unless hes tricking himself into believing in the whole 'Flower Power!!!' thing. He sort of went through the entire 'flowers are actually useless' thing before and after his fight with Kris, but IMMEDIATELY was psyching himself up when trying to fight the knight. Maybe part of why he lost right then is because he stopped believing in that moment. Perhaps changing your stats is tied to the power of your hope/dreams :(

I think his personality and appearance (aside from the Rudy parallels) also reflect his belief that flowers are just supposed to look pretty and then wither away. He tries to embody that because, well, he believes that to be true, but also dreams that he can go beyond that.
