  Something the others eyes caused her to pull the drink slowly away even as they spoke. “Of course,” Nodding with a smile, not to judge the other but Phoebe didn’t drink period - minus having to taste test the new drinks at the place the halfling stuck with virgin drinks and water - so in general she couldn’t understand risking ruining clothes for a drink. “I’ll be right back.” Disappearing near the bar before eventually returning, “This is The Gathering, changes color - it has gin, sparkling wine, orange and the little herb well - miss spoke it’s a flower but it’s pea flower. And that is dry ice.” Motioning to the smoke, “It’s very good, won’t ruin your dress either.”

“The drink wouldn’t the dress, I would --” the defense started slipping from her lips unbidden, she didn’t want someone to think she was a toddler who would spill the drink all over herself. But she also has a long standing rule of never talking about what she does in those nights, or explaining herself to anyone. It’s hard to give an excuse when you don’t even understand your mind. “I like the dry ice, very fancy.” raising the drink towards the other woman in half a toast, she takes a big sip, humming. “My, it’s even more delicious than I thought it would be.”

“Oh, perfect is it?” The slightly teasing reply was past her lips before Del had even considered responding any other way. Not to be rude, not to be cruel but because more often than not? It was how many of her responses came out when not in a professional situation. Her mother once told her it was the light to the darkness inside of her, of her fascination with her father’s kind and the realm of the dead. That her lighthearted responses balanced it all out in the end. She wasn’t so sure that was the case.

“Feel free.” The brunette gestured slightly to the arrangement- it hadn’t been important, really. Not in the long run. Just an errand for the funeral home and there had been plenty of other types of other flowers listed as ones that were perfectly acceptable to the grieving family. And she was sure the dearly deceased wasn’t about to be picky, after all. “You have a particular love for orchids?”

“Really, you are an angel, that’s what you are.” green eyes sparkled with glee as she grabbed the bouquet, gaze shifting from the flowers to the woman for a few seconds before settling on the woman out of politeness. “No, no. It’s nothing very specific, not a fascination or any other thing like that. I’m throwing a little event and orchids are such an elegant flower, they are perfect for decoration, you know.

She preferred simpler things in her personal life; wild flowers you pick up in the park because you think someone will be happy to receive them; one lone rose. Orchids at this point feel clinical -- gorgeous, elegant, awe inspiring as it blooms, but not very personal. “Do you?”

“You know that bar is also yours too, so even if I didn’t ask you this straight forward, you could ask me too. I’m not good at the decoration part, you are much better at it, not to mention you know exactly what dad wants, and I really don’t want him to hear him, how it doesn’t look homie, I probably going to mess up in some other way but you know with your touch he probably won’t notice that quick.” He chuckled “But now that he had asked he smile at the flowers and nodded “Thanks, I hope she likes them.” After paying, he opened the door of the store to her sister, so they could walk to the truck “Do you need help getting ready for your winter wonderland, I don’t have to be at the bar until late that day and we can also talk about the bar while we work?”

“I know, I know. But I could never give the attention it deserves, the attention you give to it. You set the tone, not me, as much as I want to sometimes, I can’t go around changing things to my taste.” and she has never been good at doing things halfway, either she is fully immersed in something, or she tries to erase it from her mind, if not it will haunt away the little sleep she has. So she thinks about the bar, she ruminates, she dreams, she pops by and helps with joy, but if she allows it one more little drawer of mind space it will move in with a truck full of stuff. “If you need me, I’ll drop anything to help you. If not, you do a cute job already. Now that you mention it, Dad has mentioned a few things so I know what he wants.”

“Yes please! We can discuss and you can hang up the flowers on the top of the archway so i don’t have to climb on a chair.” after checking all the flowers were secure, that the petals wouldn’t bruise when the car started moving she got into the truck, plucking the bouquet her brother had selected from his hands to rest it on her lap. "She would be a fool not to love them, and besides choosing to date you, she has never given me any looney foolish vibes.”

It had been months since Benjamin had brought flowers to Nicole and Bethany’s grave. Part of him felt terribly guilty about it and the rest of him, well, he could barely stand the sight of it. Their grave in and of itself made him sick to his stomach, knowing what he had lost. On this day, however, the guilt had gotten the best of him. He had called ahead and ordered a bouquet, nothing specific other than telling them to put together the prettiest one they could imagine. 

He was in line to purchase it when the woman in front of him showed interest. At first, there was a tint of rage burning in his heart, but it was brief. How dare he be upset at someone else wanting this bouquet when he didn’t even want to deliver it to its intended destination. Besides, what could his deceased girls really do with it? “If you want it ma'am, please be my guest. It’s not going somewhere that can’t wait. I can always get another one.” His voice cracked towards the end of his sentence and he soon found himself clearing his throat. “I mean it, really. If you’d enjoy it, you should have it.”

He had said yes, and to Odette’s ears no word rang sweeter. She was always chasing it, never stopping until she heard it, drunk on the victorious feeling it gave her. The intonation behind his words failed to please her though. It would have been easy to simply smile, thank him and take the beautiful flowers away; she had already taken a step backwards, to leave, her fingers curling on her side to grab it. “Aren’t you a sweetheart, but I shouldn’t have asked, my mama is always telling me I should be less selfish. It’s a gorgeous bouquet, you must have worked hard on it.”

There was a hint of stubborn sadness in her face, she really had become attached to the pretty little thing. It was the knowledge of how annoying her conscience would be later on that made her stop, it would replay his sad eyes and broken voice over and over again; Christmas was just around the corner, she doesn’t need this negativity dragging her down. “Someone else will enjoy it a lot more than me, of that I’m sure.”

“Wow nice to know you feel the same way as Cash.” He shook his head, knowing that she was just joking and actually more interested in the flowers. He chuckled and shrugged “Well depends on the nose” He pointed his nose “This thing has exploded it’s potential since I turned, but well the tulips are cute too. And I don’t think we have like a flower thing, I mean I had given her a flower or two every now and then, but yeah I think the tulips look pretty and they smell amazing.” He asked the same lady if he could have three tulips, before the left. “Hey O, by the way, can I ask you for a huge favor, can I leave in your hand the decoration at the bar for the Christmas party?”

“Finally, I thought you would never ask.” she had, of course, preliminary ideas about what she could do, she knew the space well and knew how to best enhance it’s natural charm, but she had been seriously trying to not think too much about it, in the case her brother made the monumentally stupid idea of not asking for her help. For future reference, preliminary ideas include a full color scheme, a sketch of the place and a reserve on her favorite shop for some of the items she thinks she will need, and of course a pinterest page. “And good choice with the flowers.”

He chuckled “Yeah yeah, I know I know, sorry.” Daniel offered a smiled at the lady at the other side of the counter and shrugged as he focuses his eyes on a pot full of Mexican sunflowers and smiled when his sister threat him of leaving him behind for some flower arrangement “Excuse you! that’s my truck I’m the only one driving it.” He moves his face pretending to be annoyed by his baby sister but also smiling amused. Daniel went back to the sunflowers and smelled them and turned back to his sister “Okay I need your help, do you like these ones, do you think they are pretty? Before you say anything, no it’s not for the event, I know they won’t go well with the orchids you picked.”

“Hmm. Sure, sure, dear. I would never leave you behind.” waving her hand dismissively, she gave a few instructions to the ladies, extra ice in the pots to keep the orchids fresh, careful wrapping so they wouldn’t bruise, and of course a ribbon in each pot! “Well, let me see. They are pretty Dan, but don’t you think it’s a little on the nose? Mexican sunflowers. And they aren’t very romantic, unless they hold some secret meaning for the two of you. If there isn’t... Those tulips over there look so inviting.”

If there is one truth in New Orleans is that Odette Grace Bolton is a good southern Belle; poised, with perfect manners, a quick laugh and a death glare that will scare any green boy straight.

This life wasn’t what anyone expected from the tomboy prankster that used to run after her brothers, screaming curses and whose knees were always bleeding. Growing up, she found it hard to match up with her brothers, legs always too short to catch up with them, their sparkling personalities and talents overshadowing her. Sure, these days she is an excellent cook, but god knows how many times people said ‘why don’t you just let Daniel cook, he is so good and such a doll’ and she never became her mother’s heir like she had always dreamed of being – Cassidy  was overflowing with magic while she could never sit still long enough to master anything.

What she ended up mastering was the art of being the perfect daughter; a calm in the storm for her parents to steady themselves when things went awry. And she liked that. She liked that people trusted with their problems and responsibilities, knowing that if they put something in her hands, it would not only get done, it would be perfectly executed. The trust people put in her, and the praise she received later, made her shine.

One doesn’t grow up as the daughter of a firefighter and a supreme without wanting to do something more. So, between all the events she throws, be them for the preservation of a historical monument, or to raise money for a local charity, Odette also teaches history at a High School near the Garden District and Catechism on Sundays after church.

Odette’s main focus in her charity events is the needs of the firefighters of the town – she is a daddy’s girl through and through. You can often find her raising money to remodel the stations, and fighting with the local government that the equipment they are using is old and puts the firefighters in danger.

Beneath the cool exterior, and the drawl that assures everyone that ‘she is fine and there is no need to worry about anything’, lies a tangle of nerves that are always in danger of bursting. And burst she does: not often, but every few months, when the pressure gets too much, she has one drink too many, and suddenly she is dancing on top of tables and getting into trouble and someone (usually one of her brothers) needs to come and get her before she gets arrested. If you ask her about what happened the next day she pretends it was someone else, refusing to talk about what goes through her mind during those nights.

She is well liked by her students, though they do find her a bit too much at times, she is very dedicated to them and has a mischievous streak that has made her the ultimate winner of every prank war between the teachers for three years in a row. 

Magic is still very much a part of her daily life, but not in ways that make her mother proud, the opposite really. Over the years, her relationship with her mother has deteriorated, always starting because her mother claims she has no respect for magic. There are no clever spells or potions in her repertoire, simply very well executed basic things that make her life easier. The lone exception is glamour spells, that not even her mother can deny she is a master of.

Her love life is the opposite of dramatic, it’s sad and boring really. When Odette was sixteen, she was head cheerleader and of course she fell in love with the quarterback with the dimpled smile and bright future. They were going to be together forever, or in reality, until four years later after she spent her whole college experience dating him, and on their graduation day, he told her he was moving to Connecticut to go to Law School and had no plans of coming back or dating long distance. After that, she lost most of her interest in dating and hasn’t been seriously with anyone ever since. The years and nostalgia have made her think they had the perfect relationship, when in reality they fought all the time and had different goals in life – she wants to have plenty of children, move to a smaller town where they can play in the streets, and he wanted to live in a big city and adopt a dog. Now, sometimes she lets a friend set her up with a guy, and when she is one of her drinking binges, she has a regular fuck buddy that she calls up; but she only calls him after she is drunk, they are the sort of person she would never usually pay attention to when she is sober.

  She stared for a moment at the girl before letting out a soft laugh. “Not to assume species but this would have anyone who isn’t a succubi on their butt.” Phoebe nodded, as if trying to warn the girl before setting one of the random drinks she carries – so people may get it – in front of her. “Here, this is called the Queen of Hearts. It’s meant to give you butterflies.” She offered with a smile, “I can get you something similar to that but the sweetness smell is an herb the bartender uses, he puts it in a few other drinks.”

In the back of her mind, she guarded the name to her memory -- Queen of Hearts, for another night.  For another Odette, but this one wanted to wake up bright and early tomorrow to visit the pound so she just smiled wide, shaking her head. “This dress is too pretty to be ruined by a drink, don’t you think? I’ll take the herb one, please. And the name of the herb if you don’t mind sharing.”

Peached had called a small order into the florists days prior to this. It was a much smaller version of the traditional bouquet her mother always ordered to line the foyer for New Years. A white lily and purple orchid combination that was burned into Peach’s memory. Even though she didn’t make much money at the coffee shop, she thought it was important to have a small reminder of her family. Especially since she was staying with her brother; it was a bit of a peace offering, of sorts. 

So of course, it was a bit of a shock when an absolutely stunningly beautiful woman in front of her complimented the bouquet she had personally designed. “Oh, bless your heart,” she replied, placing her hand on her chest. “I’m afraid I can’t part with it. It’s a bit of a tradition in the McCallum family, and I would be terribly disappointed if I didn’t have it.” She offered an apologetic smile, though inside of her mind, the gears were turning. “However, I designed it. I’m sure these lovely ladies wouldn’t mind putting together a few more if we asked them. It’s not like they’d be doing it for free, right?”

A flicker of disappointment flashed through her features, her eyes going to the pretty bouquet again. The following words were a balm to her ears though, the lines of her face were washed away, leaving behind a blossoming smile. “If you don’t think it will be too much trouble, especially since it’s a family tradition. I wouldn't want to impose.” all the other flowers would be going directly to the venue, but this one she wanted to put in her living room, it would cheer up the place, maybe distract her from the piles of papers strewn around.

After all the flowers she bought today, the ladies were all too quick to get started. “Well, I must know the name of the person with the prettiest arrangement in New Orleans.”

Daniel wasn’t sure how could anyone actually resist his little sister smile. He was pretty sure that the parents perfectionated the get away with murder look after they had him. He chuckled and shook his head, you have better taste than me at the decoration part, so if you say is perfect than I believe you, Odie. I just didn’t know that many flowers were needed, but I think we still have a bit of space at the truck to get more. Let’s just hope nobody is allergic to orchids”

"It is.” was she agreeing that it is perfect, or that her taste is better? The twinkle in her eyes says its both. “It’s a big archway, I need it to be completely covered in orchids, which is not an easy flower to use. They need to be kept in pots, I can’t exactly shape them, you know?” but it was the perfect flower to use to create a warm winter wonderland; its white petals contrasting perfectly with the night sky, but its flower and smell reminding those who walked underneath it of warm summer nights. “If there isn’t any space in the trunk I’ll just leave you here.” petting his cheek affectionately, she smelled the flowers once more, eyebrows scrunching up in glee before she twirled back around to face the counter. “The orchids and this arrangement, thank you.”

Four florists, three different online vendors and one street merchant with questionable prices later, and she had enough orchids to frame the archway of the ballroom of her latest event. As she was about to pay, she plucked one last bouquet from the counter, raising it to her face to breathe in the sweet smell -- what was one more arrangement? That’s spoken for, dear. The lady behind the counter raised her eyes to a figure behind her. 

Squaring up her shoulders, Odette twirled around, flashing the person her best winning dimpled smile, brown locks tumbling over her shoulders.“Don’t suppose I can convince you to part with this one? It’s beautiful, perfect even.”

     Danse Feerique humming with lively people and music, the air always having some magical touch to it. Enough to even make her enjoy her shift there, gently shifting on her feet to stop the ache of the heels while keeping an eye on the guests seated… Dark hues shifted easily to see in the dimmer room, moving to the empty tables and grabbing the glasses. One particular table caught her eye, the server handing off her drinks to someone else… At first the halfling had some hesitation but moved towards the strangers. “Oh woah –” Donna quickly put her hand over the drinks rim to stop the other, giving a nervous laugh as she tried to pull it away. 

  “– Um, I think she might have given you another guests drink. I’m sorry.”

Dark green eyes blink repeatedly as the drink is taken away, rising to meet woman’s in a questioning glance. The farther away the drink gets, the more her lips curl, until they finally blossom into a dissatisfied pout, giving her the appearance of a puppy whose toy was taken away. “Smelled much sweeter than the wine I originally ordered, I wasn’t going to complain.” she had been annoyed at first, but it smelled so lovely and inviting that she had gotten quite curious about what it would actually taste like. “Think you can get me another one?”

The backdoor stood ajar, the light peaking through illuminating Rayna’s silhouette as she stood in the alleyway which lead to the back of Mahogany Jazz. Music was faintly overpowering the buzzing nighttime sounds of the streets of New Orleans as she fiddled with the lighter which she held lightly between her fingers. It was a busy night at the establishment which had a proper effect on her mood, namely, she hadn’t been this at ease in a while. Quietly humming along to the melody, she took a pack of cigarettes out of the pocket of her jacket before a sigh escaped her lips. Yet another bad habit she wanted to break. She had accumulated many of those over the years, most of them Rayna wasn’t even aware of. It was then that she glanced up and saw someone approach. It was too dark to make out who it was just yet so her tone remained friendly enough for it to go either way. “Sorry, staff only entrance.” She remarked, giving them a second to react. “Unless you want one of these.” Lifting the small box up, she shook it once. “In that case, do me a favor and take them all.”

Her nose twitched at the smell, the only outward sign of disapproval she showed, her face remained bright and relaxed after a night of dancing with friends and a lack of a stack of papers to grade; she had finished them all and that called for a celebration. “Never really mastered the whole smoking thing, the cough never stopped.” her shoulders rise in a small shrug, eyes closing for a brief second. “Mind if I still hang out here for a short second? Need to catch my breath.”

before I stalk talking about my child that I’m already in love with, here are some fun facts about me:

named my dog after luke skywalker, and once named a horse after a character from dragonball z;

i always say the alphabet wrong, idk why but i say the last letters in the wrong order;

today i literally sat down to find a town rp and i thought ‘bonus points if its set in the american south’ and i must tell you ladies and gents, I yelled when I saw this RP, I yelled. 

anyways, my child:

youngest bolton sibling, definetly doesn’t have any issues because of that. absolutely did not affect her whole personality growing up.

southern belle. can make sweet tea that tastes like ambrosia, her cakes are to die for, and she also has a mean right hook.

decided to teach high school history after watching too many british period dramas on PBS, still has a fascination with the victorian and regency eras of britain, her students definetly complain about it. 

while she is the fun (tm) teacher, she can be quite anal about literally everything else, is definetly developing an ulcer from getting stressed out about literally everything and everyone. has definetly gotten into fights with people who work in city hall. i feel it, she may have threatened a few of them.

looks like she has her whole life under control, not one hair out of place and then suddenly she gets drunk and lord help anyone gets in her way because she is a nightmare trapped inside a very small body (god was afraid of her power if he let her be any taller than 5″3.)
