BIOGRAPHY:
Odette was born in the middle of autumn to two beloved members of the Mystic Connecticut community; her father is an adored physician and her mother was a well revered high school teacher.
She is the youngest of two girls. Though she and her sister often got into squabbles growing up, they are thick as thieves. She considers her sister her closest confidant.
In high school, Odette was voted Homecoming Queen two years in a row. Though unlike her predecessors, she never had been a cheerleader —she’s much too clumsy.
Odette was planning on going to college nearby, as she was afraid to venture out of her comfort zone and the insurance of home. That all changed when she got a scholarship to Boston University and ended up majoring in English.
After graduating from college, Odette worked at a publishing house in Boston for about a couple of years until her grandmother, a Manhattan native and previous owner of The Busy Bean, got sick. In her will, she left the shop to both Odette and her older sister.
Odette always knew there would come a time where she would be in charge of the store and while owning a coffee and tea shop wasn’t her preferred career path, it’s definitely always been part of her plan. She moved into her grandmother’s old apartment in the West Village and began running the shop with her sister. Odette loves caffeine, which she’s always found to be by herself while reading a good book. She’s the manager and operator while her sister is in charge of the financials.
Since becoming the owner of The Busy Bean, Odette’s begun to update some of the decor to reflect her own aesthetics. She’s slowly integrating more bookshelves and wants to establish a community library where people can trade books and whatnot. One day, she’d like to open up a tiny book section in the store.
Upon moving, she got a dog —a King Charles Cavalier named Lily. She can often be seen around the store, since Odette swears that dogs are good for business.
Aside from running the coffee shop, Odette dreams of writing her own book. Her preferred genre is romance. When she’s not at the store, she’s hard at work on what she hopes to be a stellar plot.
Odette was born with the gift of a good heart and a spunky personality. She’s what she likes to call a meticulous risk taker, which is a bit contradictory. She’s prone to making split decisions at the drop of a hat, but once she makes said decision, she plans it out in it’s entirety. She always has to have a plan, which is probably why she’s so good at running the bookstore, but bad at actually writing —she’s creative and has tons of ideas, but if her brain strays from the path or the outline she’s built, she beats it back into submission.
