important aspects of this blog

in all default verses , arthur is not yet married to anyone. he rules alone with only merlin —and in some instances, his mother— by his side. in that, all marriages / romances are fair game. i would just rather develop them than have something set in stone. i’ve read all those variations, and i want my own.

additionally , in all default verses , he has open , advisory communication with viviane / niniane / nimue / the lady of the lake at all times. he also trusts his sister morgaine / morgana always , even when he shouldn’t. it’s why nimue ends up saving his ass so much in le morte verse.

in all verses , arthur has made a vow to avalon, which is the only way he is able to acquire excalibur no matter how he does it. he keeps that vow until the day he dies, which is why he is welcomed back and healed in avalon after the battle of camlann. it also means that if the church were to ever challenge him or ask that he renounce avalon, he wouldn’t, and it would be means for war. 

any and all threads with children of arthur , mainly mordred , will have to be plotted , at least lightly , beforehand.

while arthur does have a cursed verse , i will NOT write with nimues who use k.atherine lang.ford and heavily favor her played as a woc as she is in the book and should be in the show

Odd considering how much he wanted to be older when he was a boy , more so when he took the crown , but it all boils down to the cycle it represents. Time does not stop , even when a life does. The crown rests upon the table across the room , and yet , Arthur’s head feels no lighter. In fact , it has begun to ache , and he is not sure whether it is due to Viviane’s visit or Merlin’s commentary on Viviane’s visit. Or both. Regardless of which , it makes an initial reaction to her appearance in the doorway impossible. 

He still is not entirely sure what to expect from her. She has been pleasant enough thus far , but quiet though she may be , Arthur sees something no one else seems to. Her silence , deafening in its own right , does not imply a lack of intelligence. If anything , quite the contrary. So her little riddle does not simply settle in the pit of his stomach like a warm meal. Instead , it is heavy as brick and just as chalky on his tongue. 

❛ Alright , fine. I will ask then. ❜ Standing , he turns to face her fully as a sign of respect although he crosses his arms over his chest. ❛ What - ❜ His paranoia halts him before he does however , and he looks around as though expecting the merlin to appear there between them at any moment. Moving closer , his voice lowers as he tries again. ❛ What do you think of his plan , the Merlin’s ? ❜

I Want to be Apocalyptic, something only the end can see ( Assassin’s Creed ) — When Arthur becomes king , he is immediately approached by the Order of Ancients, who had previously seduced Uther and now laid claim to his throne. Arthur , at the behest of Merlin , agrees to work with them , not at all realizing what it was he was signing up for. It is not until Avalon’s faction of the assassins come to him and prove exactly what the Order is that he comes to terms with the fact that he was a puppet. When the Order realizes that they are losing their grip on Arthur —albeit unaware he is now actively working with the brotherhood— they begin to groom Mordred, who they had saved after having Merlin orchestrate the massacre on May Day, for the throne. And the killing of Arthur. 

Dear Terror, I know what hunger is and there is little I can offer you ( Faerie Podcast ) — Reincarnated for the nth time , Arthur finds himself in a vastly different world that not only distrusts magic and the fey but actively seeks to experiment on , torture , and destroy them when they slip through the veil. Arthur helps to found The Department , a secret branch of government set out to protect the fey. Of course , there are those who do not believe and worse , those who snake their way into the job in order to disrupt the plan. Arthur , still clinging to the memory of his oath to Avalon and the fey folk , must do everything in his power to protect them while shielding himself from those within his organization who threaten to smother him and his intentions. 

We were gods at the beginning of the world. We will be gods again ( Old Guard | Immortal Verse ) — After failing to die during the battle of Camlann , Vivianne and Nimue inform Arthur that he, like them, is immortal. They convince him that he has a second chance to do good, and so rather than race back to reclaim his throne , he works from the shadows , focused on setting right some of his wrongs.

            It’s strange, how  g r o w n  he’s gotten, last she saw him he was but a babe Merlin insisted should not stay with his parents, for his own safety the sorcerer said. Ygraine isn’t so sure. She smiles slightly at him, not in the way a mother would smile to her child, after all, he’s a stranger and it feels like he always will be such.  ❝ Merlin. I understand he’s still around. ❞  Plotting certainly, under the guise of advising.  ❝ I would take care, witchcraft is tricky and often unreliable. ❞

❛ He is. ❜ It isn’t that Arthur fails to understand how fleeting his own autonomy can be at times. By now , he is acutely aware of it , far more than he was when he was sixteen. His frustration with the fact has never fallen upon his oath however. He will not allow it. Besides , Merlin is no longer his only counsel , and he knows the voice of his own conscience now as well. ❛ Gods are tricky. So are men. Witchcraft is only as tricky and unreliable as the one who wields it. ❜ What he knows is that he does not know his mother , not like he knows Merlin or even Nimue. It is a harsh reality he has not allowed himself to dwell upon. ❛ Have your beliefs never failed you ? ❜

arthur chews his lip , a regression to the vague memory of his childhood. a childhood that never could have allowed him to foresee all of this. he does not know if he is grateful or spiteful , but it doesn’t matter much now , he supposes. ❛ i would love to , but see , the problem with that is - i do not know which words up here are my own anymore. ❜ so much push and pull , an excessive amount of counsel , and while he realizes this is much of the same , he trusts kay at least to be brutally honest. ❛ i only wish i would have used them before. in the beginning. ❜
